I like your style. You're very clear (and you minimize the gross, anatomical vocal cord shots!.) But you've helped me understand power. I always thought that to sing well I had to be completely relaxed with a very open throat but obviously if everything's very open all the time you wouldn't get any sound at all. Like all things it's a balance...

Thanks Stephanie. The longer I do this the more I believe that power...healthy, good power in singing comes after the voice is balanced and all extrinsic muscle tension is eliminated. It's somewhat counter-intuitive, but I've never seen or experienced good power by pushing and tension.

thanks a LOT for this lesson..i think you opened a new door for me to sing higher notes :) its always been difficult for.me.to sing high with power ..always when i wanted to si g high i felt everything just kept together in my throath ..didnt feel good. this technique helps a lot

Ok but 70% of my problem is my nose. No air escapes from one side at all times and it always changes depending on what side I sleep on. I always sound naselly. What now?

Have you been to an ENT and had them check your nasal passages. Sometimes there are things they can do to help. Once those things are taken care of, if it is still a problem, I recommend doing exercises that will lower the larynx.
