In this episode Nurse John is going to talk about real stories from healthcare workers who have went above and beyond their job and abilities to do something for their patients, to a stranger, for someone else. As they say nursing is a calling, you come in, knowing that you will be taking care of strangers, advocating for them, protecting them, healing them but even with all that many have done the impossible because of love, compassion, and dedication to their profession. Buckle up, tissues up, as we dive deep to these amazing stories for this week.

I'm not a health care worker. However, I love ur videos and just knowing that there are ppl like u caring for ppl makes my heart happy. I had 2 heart attacks laat yr and i was not involved in my care. They would not update me on my condition. I was afraid for the 1st time in a long time. I couldn't speak properly and my 15 year old daughter was with me. That's what scared me, seeing her so afraid and NO 1 helping us. I winded up walking out IV and all! Im ok now but my poor baby wouldn't leave my side for MONTHS! I wish there was more ppl like U! Love u bestie ur amazing! ❤❤❤

I’m a registered behavior specialist that works with kids on the spectrum in schools. I just got assigned to a new school to a special Ed class and the 2nd day a kid went missing. The teacher asked me and others to search for her all over campus -nothing. We started the search off the school in our own cars and I ended up finding her and ALMOST GOT ARRESTED. I thought quick on my feet called my coworker and got the principal on the phone and cleared it up with the officer and escorted me back.

Currently a CNA at a very nice nursing home (looking to become RN). When i say nice nursing home, i mean it is nice for the patients. The staffing situation is obviously shit, like it is everywhere else, so we get travel nurses frequently and they all suck, are rude to patients, don't put an effort in and so on on top of that they get the bare minimum on boarding. So today i had to work with this traveller whos basically close to being in a home herself, she just smoking, drinking energy drinks etc. so we are both on a ward with dementia patients and one of us has always to be there because we got runners. She says "i gotta do this and that" and is gone for an hour and i'm on the ward alone and i have to feed the people, do toilet walks and so on, then i got the runners, she comes back with the medication, does not know the names of the people so she takes a shit ton of time. in addition i need to show her around the home. Then literally EVERYONE SHITS. Ok i have to clean them up. On top of that, new people start working on my floor and the charge from one of the other floors comes down while i'm charting an hour later, talks to my charge and tries to make her give up all the good people that start and swaps them out for her shit.. i just fucking can't... management doesn't give a fuck about how good my ward runs, OH and i have double shifts this weekend .. working 6 am to 12 am and then 2:30 pm to 7 pm. I love my job, i love my patients, id punch some cunt travel nurse if i see them treat my patients like shit, but i can't take how normalized this all is, i go complain to my charge .. she just says "i know". But i will, if its the last fucking thing i do, become an RN. So since this is a therapy session, thank you for reading and take care, it will get better!

When I worked at the hospital, previously a home health nurse, I listened to the nurse's report and I wouldn't let the negative part of it influence me. I believe there is an underlying reason why a person is acting a certain way, you just have to assess the reason for it.

My elderly neighbor from one floor down in our apartment building was lying in her door, crying for help. Her legs stopped working and she had to crawl to the door. Yes, she had dementia and had several weird episodes previously. But. This time we had to call our local 911 equivalent three times! Each time explaining that the person was on the cold floor in December, unable to walk! They just plain refused to come for a demented person - my husband had to threaten them with police. Later I vistited her in the hospital, where she was in a sorry state - tied to the bed and, practically, abandoned. Found her relatives. Took care of her for a few days (the hospital staff even demanded I fed her myself). Brought all the necessary hygiene stuff. I'm not bragging, I just firmly believe that human beings should help each other. And yes, I neither am or never was ever a nurse, but those who work in our system just don't give a flying f*ck(

It's just so hard b/c ppl are in some of their worst moments. Like maybe they are being angry or pushy b/c they are scared n really care. In stuff it's like ppl are being over dramatic...or not caring enough and you never know how ppl are going t view it. Like in true crime....some one's in shock n they are like....this person didn't cry about their loved one....i would go t my obgyn appointments pregnant. N one of the nurses tried to say that I didn't care b/c i told her i wasn't going to make a appointment n be flacky until i knew for sure n had bus passes. N could make a for sure date. She's trying t say I don't care n I'm riding the bus there n back carrying a lawn chair b/c the bus outside the obgyn and hospital the bus stop had no seat n i about passed out standing waiting on the bus.....but I don't care....

Free health care doesnt mean good health care as well. I live in Cherokee, NC on a Native American reservation we get "free health care" its not the best. I made my daughter a dentist appointment but its not until June 2024?!! So yea thats the health care we are getting, I appreciate that its free but damn.

i know that Healthcare is paid with tax, but Canadian population is 39 million? United States were about at 340 million. our taxes would be spread out wayyyy more evenly. but at the same time, I pay tax for school and I've had multiple landlords (somehow) who can't read. so the discussion is a massive grey area. would I pay tax for health care? absolutely. I paid 3k for 2 staples. do I trust the taxes being paid being used correctly, absolutely not
