As I watch the video, and see the gun mount beams, I had an idea. Use them to for a base to a small crane. Dingy crane, or for loading supplies, or Off loading the bags of garbage/refuse, etc etc.

Every nationality has certain sounds that are truly their own. For example, in Mexico there is the "Grito", which is a joyous shout of pride and exuberance. When that grinder jammed, Gemma's "Oh dear!" was such a purely British sound, I almost died laughing. Every week you guys bring a smile to my face for sure. Don't sleep on the safety glasses though. Thanks to a cheap pair I only have a scar above my left eye instead of across it.

Met a guy in the 60's. He had a huge swollen eye ball. Looked horrible. HE said a very small fragment of copper penetrated his eye. It caused a reaction with the fluid in the eye. He suffered over a year before doctors made it heal. At least they saved his sight. Thanks for being careful. I love your videos.

23:30 I worked for a heavy construction machinery company (very, very big) and after one of the big bosses saw the video of the blade in the safety glass it became mandatory to have two levels of eye protection when using 1mm cutting discs. Safety glasses and a face shield while cutting, what a pain in the ass!!

Last time I ran was the summer of 1972. I was 16 at the time. I like the way the ship is getting tightened up with each bit of wood going in. Sarinda is starting to come alive as is your tea cups. Tea tastes better with all the scuzz inside which my work teacup exhibited in the day and there is nothing wrong with it until slivers of it come off as floaters in the tea. That's a problem, burnt fingers.

5:45 - A way you can make it a bit safer to cut shallow angles on narrow pieces of wood involves those 4 holes at the back of the saw. Screw a sacrificial piece of wood across the fence and you can narrow the big gap in the factory fence down to a much smaller one.

06/07/2024 Hello Ship. Question? Q Are we making progress? You know that Noah built the arc with family also. From what I know about construction on land and nothing about boats other than my pontoons (3), I am now and always very happy to watch. You guys have overcome so many road blocks and unusual things that have raised your brow and a scratch on the head. Sooo! if my opinion counts ... you guys have made a great deal of progress on the renovation of this historic boat. With the tide and the winter and the trash removal and the materials delivered both in the shop and on board, many would have quit and divorced. But like me you guys are far from normal. You excel in many ways. Stay safe and alert. This is a job of work yet to come but I know of anyone better for this big. In answer to your question .... hell yes! Sincerely Don usa

It is amazing how much rotten wood is in that deck. I am so glad that you have decided to restore a maritime treasure and I do hope that you are able to get some time on it. I vaguely remember something about turning it over to the British War Museum. I think that would be an excellent idea and a wonderful tribute to the men who valiantly served in the Maritime Services.

It's even more important to wear safety glasses when working with copper. When you get a piece of steel in your eye A&E can remove relatively eeasily using a magnet. With non-ferrous metals such as copper they need to be a lot more invasive and with a lot more pain and damage.

When you eventually get yo dirt out the heating system, get it plumbed with PEx. I personally prefer Polypipe it’s the mist flexible and has the same (at least) 50 years life. If won’t burst when frozen and won’t creak as it warms and cools. You can feed it along like power cable and use fewer fittings than copper. It’s also cheaper.

Good thinking with the drop saw but try to set up with large piece against the guide block and the off cut allowed to part away. Doing this way you can hold the parent material hard against the guide without the possibility of jamming the saw in the cut. Much safer.

So what is the plan for replacing the deck beams that sit on the beam shelf? Are you planning to cut them out one at a time and slide the new one into place? I guess the entire superstructure is floating free (with a few exceptions) so raising the superstructure as you go should be possible. I've been wondering about this for a long time. Now that I see everything coming together with a nice coat of white paint, seems like a good time to ask 😊
