Damn that brought me back to a kid.again I LOVED that game I've been hoping they would release again so I could play with my kids! Thanks for the flashback
This Game is in fact VERY rare, which is probably why it goes for such high prices. Apparently there were MAJOR manufacturing issues with the Mechanism at the time which caused massive distribution problems. It was also priced incorrectly (under-priced) by mistake in the Marketing, which meant they lost a great deal of money on it; as a consequence, it was only on the Market a VERY short time. Also, people may be interested to know that there were in fact TWO versions of this Game; one using Cards as shown in this Video - the other using Dice. One is even rarer than the other!!
Thanks for the video! I just rebought this game on eBay and despite the high price tag, it was absolutely worth it. It's just as fun as I remembered it being when I was a kid. The ever-changing unpredictability of Tornado Rex's path as he spirals down the mountain makes it immensely repayable. I'm so happy to own it again.
My siblings and I used to love this game, we miss it so much! Funnily enough, we got rid of ours ( wish we hadn't) because the mechanism was broken and I couldn't figure out how to fix it, pretty sure I remember the board being cracked too...
If Restoration Games ever does a revamping facelift of this, I could really see them keeping the flip and move mechanic of the explorers and yet turning the premise into an interesting horse-race variation bidding game where you're bidding on which color explorers make it to the lookout post first with the top as a knock down factor. There could be many different types of bidding. A few examples could not only be who makes it first, but who makes it second or third, who makes it to a certain spot on the gameboard, or who is able to find the most gems or treasure on their way to the top.
@@BoardGameMuseumer That's so funny lol 😄 every time I watch this video I laugh when you say "Well he didn't really knock", (and then you pause and then you say well he knocked down everybody" , After you shot off tornado Rex😄☺️ It's funny.
@@BoardGameMuseumer "Now he didn't knock............So basically he knocked off everybody"LoL😄And meanwhile everybody on the board is knocked down. I got this game too and my friends love it. We play it a few times in a row sometimes.
Oh! You know what I wanted to ask you? Where did you send your Dark Tower tower to get fixed? How do you do that, do you recommend a good person to repair it and any other advice on what to do☺️ Thanks Norm sincerely Vince
And all my years is thrifting I've only found one in a thrift store and they were up to date on the prices. They wanted 75 but I think it was cracked and it might have been missing a piece or two. Still a great game
@@BoardGameMuseumerGeez not even the Thrift stores will sell it for cheap... this is literally my no. 1 most wanted board game yet it's impossible to find one below $70.
"Tornado Rex being sold for hundreds of dollars" because of course it's being sold for hundreds of dollars. Gawd I'm tired of everything I grew up playing with as a kid, all of my toys, now being resold for hundreds of dollars. Everything. Every time I hear about something from when I was a kid, if ever I'm like "oh I remember that. I'd like to get that again" 500 dollars ... DAMMIT!
They say something is only worth what somebody will pay for it, I don't know how all of these people get away with charging so much. Nobody is paying that, right? They're either like me and just say "ah forget it" or like you and find a way to get it cheaper. I don't know what they think they're trying to pull.@@BoardGameMuseumer
