How did you figure out angle for cleats?
@phildavis4288

I built one this exact same size about 3 years ago just 5 feet above the ground. I eventually found I needed a hand rail on the stairs especially leaving in the dark and when they're wet. I almost bought the farm slipping off of them after they got a little mold on them from the humidity. Wondered if you put a hand rail up at least one side of the steps. Mine is still holding together well. Hope yours is too.

Yes I added rails shortly after this video and recorded it.

Should look at possibly adding your archery blind under the shooting house

I honestly don't remember, but they will vary from yours because mine end down in a ditch.

How many acres do you own? What kind of work did you before moving to your new property? Love that tractor. I need to get one soon! Any tips for what to look for when looking? New? Used? Brand/model? Attachments? Price?

Sweet looking shooting house and food plot set up! Good job. Thanks for sharing the step construction portion. I like the method you used for the stair supports. Should work just fine IF you don't get a lot of rain in your location. Due to the fact that the step are flat however, water may pool up during heavy rains and soak into the edge cuts, causing them to swell and pull against the fasteners. Over time any swollen, wet wood will rot. Since their isn't a large amount of edge from the support boards underneath for the steps to rest on, any rot will tend to cause the steps to give way under weight. In Central Mississippi, even treated wood rots fairly quickly, usually in 5 years or so, because we get up to 75 inches of rain per year. Any type of wood rots in that sort of heavy rain climate. For anyone having a wet climate, I'd suggest using metal treads bolted to the side rails of the stairs. But the concept is great! Simple, cost effective, and gets the job done. I like it!

Andrew 🦌 this deer blind is well built. I like that you measure everything and build things to last. My brothers just nails boards together and it's horrible. I'm afraid to get in it. Enjoyed the video.

Great job! I love how you made the cleats full size between the steps instead of just a 2x4 under each step. I'm stealing that idea!

Can you make a follow up video showing exactly how you did the supports? I think I've got the general gest of it but just want to be certain.

You need rise ( height to door sill ) Run ) distance from blind out to start of bottom step ) that will give you the angle or go to your phone punch in stair calculator and it will give you those easy peezy

Was never meant to be a DIY video, I don't do those. Our channel is just a daily glimpse into our life. However if you look at the video below, it's me answering viewer questions including the steps. 45 degree angle and 8 inch rise height. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hHZ4mfm6A6E.html
