In 1971 the Pakistan Army committed a surrender in East Pakistan. It was a physical surrender. The Pakistani people forgave the Army for that ignominious surrender in 1971. In 2022, when Bajwa orchestrated the ousting of Imran Khan, the Pakistan Army committed another surrender. This time the surrender is of a much greater dimension: it is a surrender of ideology, it is a surrender of morality, it is a surrender of intellect, it is a surrender of nerves. However, this time the Pakistani people will NEVER forgive the Army for their ignominious surrender, as this surrender is of a vastly greater dimension and higher stakes and implications.

- [ ] Shah Sahib, Let me start by saying that I am not the person who asked the questions, but after listening to your detailed explanation about the tumultuous history of Pakistan’s politics and the involvement of military in the political affairs of the country, I felt obligated to write this rejoinder. I am just a distant observer and not affiliated with any political party. I am very ‘concerned’ by the abysmal state of affairs of the country. And your response was a good effort to give your viewers an insight into how did we get here? You started out by saying that the Military fought the first war in 1948 after the independence, and liberated ‘Azad Kashmir’. However, on the contrary, ignoring or forgetting the role of Tribesmen in the liberation of this region is like erasing an important part of the history. Also, the liberation of Gilgit Baltistan region, was made possible by the resistance put up by the warrior like people of the region. Again, no role played by the Military. Let’s look at what happened after Jinnah’s passing away. Liaqat Ali Khan was assassinated under very mysterious circumstance. There is a very strong circumstantial evidence that the geopolitical situation prevalent during the Cold War, played a pivotal role in his assassination, and there is a very real possibility that there was help sought from ‘inside’ to carry out this heinous deed. By the way, the family of Akbar Khan, the assassin of Liaqat Ali Khan, was settled overseas, let’s just say in the North America, without being specific. This would not be possible without the help of the civilian or Military leadership of the time. Why was an average Brigadier like Ayub Khan promoted to the rank of Major General? Whose inputs and recommendations were taken for such a promotion? A close examination points finger to the people sitting in distant powerful capitals. Sadly, it seems that nothing has changed. Ayub Khan’s dislike for East Pakistanis was no hidden matter. Sheikh Mujeeb stood alongside Fatima Jinnah. It’s known that Ayub’s election victory over Fatima Jinnah was questionable, and she also died under mysterious circumstances. Ayub Khan started 1965 war. The Pak Army’s incursions started in Kashmir region before the full blown war started between the two nations. Indian Generals made a strategic move to ‘save’ the occupied Kashmir by crossing the International border. The rest is history. What happened in 1971 is crystal clear. A country where the elections were always manipulated for the blue eyed boys of Military, repeated this unholy act during the elections of 1970, and denied Sheilh Mujeeb his due right. What happened rest is also history. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was an egotist and was not democratic at all. His nationalization destroyed the Industrial base of the country and killed the spirit of entrepreneurship in the country. This retarding the latent potential of the nation. General Zia saw an opportunity after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Thus descended Pakistan into a proxy war, where the National interests of the country were sacrificed for short term gains. The economic boom was artificial. The country lost its way, it became a hot bed of Islamic fundamentalism and sectarianism. The policies had dire consequences for what was to come. The subsequent governments of Benazir & Nawaz Sharif were mired in political infighting, with dictator era Presidential power acting as a guillotine for finishing their respective governments. We know the dubious role of the intelligence agencies in making & breaking the two governments, many former Generals have openly confessed about this. You talked about the razor thin majority Imran Khan got in 2018 elections. However, there is ample evidence which points towards the election manipulation to deny an overwhelming majority to Imran during the 2018 elections. The subsequent events points to a cause de jour for what was planned and implemented during the regime change. It’s also clear how the numbers for the vote of no confidence were engineered. No further comments. I really hope that you take time from your busy schedule to read this rejoinder, it’s just a response from one Sayed to another. Take care and God bless you.
