Utah's West Desert comprises a lonely series of mountain ranges and extraordinarily flat valleys, stretching from the Wasatch Front to the Nevada border. It's home to such curiosities as the original Pony Express route, a herd of wild horses, and the military's Utah Test & Training Range. Join us as we explore this starkly beautiful area of Utah on Episode 31 of Grand Adventure!
Filmed on location April 20-22, 2018.

ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a RU-vid channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on RU-vid, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Thank you Kristie! We were very fortunate to find the herd. Our episode 106 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VExhdDxxnaA.html features a former mustang from that very herd now living on a sanctuary ranch nearby.

They're wonderful, aren't they? For the weekend that we filmed this, Bob and I were on a quest to try to find the herd, and we're so thankful that we succeeded.

I've been visiting the Pony Express Trail and photographing the mustangs about once a week for 15 years, your video captures the area very well, great account of a very special place.

Interesting about the Pony Express; I didn’t know that it only lasted nineteen months. Except for the flat tire, looked like a cool trip.

It was a fun one, to a side of Utah that only locals go.

Question: do you find it useful (longer boondocking stays) to carry 1-2 extra propane tanks for backups? Enjoy ur vids! Nicely done!
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 6 лет назад
Thank you Jim! We already carry 60# of propane in two 30# tanks, never felt the need for any more. In fact we use the house propane to power the BBQ grill, too.

One of the quick question: do you find it difficult to navigate with a longer trailer-Turnarounds for example?
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 6 лет назад
Jim, we've been in a few tight spots but always managed to get in and out. The worst was on BLM land near Mesa Verde, where an overhanging tree branch prevented us from using the turnaround at a dead end and forced about an 8-point turn. For this video above we actually drove just past this camp to where the road became too rough and rocky to negotiate, and then had to back down 100 yards or so to the campsite that you see here. Then again, I don't feel like we have a longer trailer -- the living space is 23', while the trailer overall is 25'11" long if you include the A-frame/hitch. Around here that's pretty small. I've had a bigger challenge with a few steep transitions, such as getting out from a creek's flood plain and up and out the riverbank while in Sun Valley, Idaho. It was for that reason that I had skid plates welded to the frame to protect the dump valves and stairs from dragging on those transitions, which is another video we're presently considering. For turning around, Google Satellite view can give you a good idea of what's down those dirt roads, and we can always send our drone out ahead for a sneak peek, but if in doubt, walk in and scout it out first.

New tires does make it a $grand$ adventure... Now I know why you drink Tito's... just kidding! Nice video Mark.

The Tito's was Bob's -- I drink the cheap crap. ;) Thanks TR!

Yep mine has a Kirkland label.
@jimburwell8405
@jimburwell8405 6 лет назад
Thanks Mark. About how long do those tanks last you continuously with daily use?
@GrandAdventure
@GrandAdventure 6 лет назад
Longer than we've ever needed. ;) Our longest trip thus far was ~10 days as we're not full-timers, and have to return for other obligations, and we've never gone through more than one full tank even in cooler weather with the furnace running moderately.
