It's such a great place, Don, isn't it? They were lined up out to the street at times during our visit. In next week's episode, though, we went and harvested our own claims -- which tasted even better. 😉
All I can say about this video is WOW, WOW, WOW! Just a wonderful representation of that part of Oregon and it's coastal area, beaches and special towns along the way! The Newport Aquarium was special also. Makes me want to shout MORE, MORE! Thanks Mark for taking us to a unique and fascinating part of our country!
So informative!! We’re headed that way in August and truly appreciate your honest assessment if things. and I’m salivating for that seafood market!! Thanks!!
You are most welcome. Enjoy! Don't miss South Beach Fish Market, but choose your times carefully. While we were there, sometimes it was lined up out the door and out to the street.
Such gorgeous coastal scenery, I could watch the waves for hours. I love the holiday feel of the small towns that you visited as well. Looking forward to the next adventure tonight! (Suzane)
Beautiful images, Marc. I actually thought the aquarium looked great. But you may have done a great job capturing the various exhibits. Glad you got to stay nice and cool. We had 107° F here in Fort Worth today. The whole of next week will be mostly around 105° F. The seafood looked fab as well. Thanks for sharing all of that. Gord
Thanks as always for watching, Gord. I think I just had higher expectations for the aquarium than it delivered. The week before we stopped in the little-known Charleston Marine Life Center and for $5, our expectations were exceeded. Here, folks lined up to pay $26 and I actually enjoyed the Charleston Marine Life Center more. There was nothing wrong with the Oregon Coast Aquarium, I was just let down by my own expectations.
@@GrandAdventure Thanks Marc. Sounds more like a price-per-performance issue. Deep down, you likely felt abused and put off. I get it. Just know that when you see admissions this high, it is usually because the director in charge received a salary increase. He, in turn, approves a salary increase for those who approved his salary increase. Then they compute the expected attendence and calculate the necessary fee in order to justify their salaries. I agree in essence. Better to look at those high rates and just say no to their ploy. This is they difference between a self serving cooperation and a people serving Republic. The two are diametrically opposed organizations. Everything is a corporation today and none serves the people... they are only there to farm the people. The worst part is that the public have been trained and washed to support this abuse.🤔😳🙄🙊🐟💨 Gord
I may comment too often but your videos are like world class productions. Great content, amazing videography, narration and editing! Thank you so very much for sharing your travels!
We have driven this coast. So many little towns. Lots of unique bridges as well. So that’s what that park campground looks like. We happened to be passing through on a three day weekend and it was full….. go figure. The food looked great! Thanks for sharing. Ram 👍🏼👍🏾
Just had this conversation with another youtuber about vacationing on the Oregon coast to beat the heat...We found that out yrs ago and have taken advantage of it as often as we can ...Its always been convenient for us because we have relatives in Crescent City and Tillamook/Garibaldi...We have casino camped in Florence at the Three Rivers Casino...Have also been to MO's there for the chowder ...YUMM !! ...My guess is you have gone past or i would recommend stopping and having a crab sandwich at the Old Oregon Smokehouse in Rockaway Beach just north of Garibaldi and Tillamook..Its right across the st. from the red caboose you see in town on HWY 101...We like to stay at a nice little place called Harborview RV park in the harbor of Garibaldi as it only has about 20 spaces and its right on the water.....Found Toledo interesting in your video as i have never been there....Looking forward to next week , travel safe , and all be well...
Same to you! You are correct, we are now several weeks further north on Whidbey Island in Washington State's Puget Sound. And thank you for the tips for the next time we travel through the Northern Oregon coast!
@@GrandAdventure I have been to Whidbey Island many moons ago when i was 18yrs old...Like 50yrs ago full of moons...Puget Sound was beautiful then i can imagine its just as nice now...
Boy, that's the truth, Norm! A single dump station bay for 200-something campsites is completely inadequate. There was nearly always a lineup the whole time we were there.
We can't comment on hotels, Tammy, because we bring our home with us. But Google is your friend. Start planning that trip no later than this fall, as campgrounds fill up quickly.
Thank you Randy! Honestly, the options are nearly limitless. Kayak the harbor and Yaquina Bay, visit Yaquina Head and Yaquina Bay lighthouses, stroll the quaint waterfront streets of Nye Beach, go for a hike, ...
Enjoyed your video. We traveled through the Oregon Coast in 2019, we loved it, we visited Tillamook and Coos Bay areas, and we would day trip north and south of those areas. The area you are in now we only drive through on our way to Coos Bay and need to return and visit the coast much more intentionally, we had very difficult time finding places to stay as we only booked about 1-2 months in and in the middle of summer it was all booked. But I need to try that site you mentioned for cancellations. Are you a solo traveler or are you married/life partner? You always say we but I only see you and maybe your dog. A technical recommendation, when shooting video of self place your camera on a tripod, I was getting sea sick watching the background swim around your head 😂. But we truly enjoy eating your videos.
LOL! Sometimes I get lazy and just grab the GoPro for the intro and/or outro, instead of the mirrorless on the tripod with wireless lav mic, all of which takes some time to set up. But point noted. Yes, there's a "we." Mrs. GA, however, is intensely private online and refuses to appear in the videos. Every now and then, however, she gets caught on camera in the background. Campnab works wonderfully. We booked our stay for 5 days only about two weeks in advance, as did our friends who are traveling with us for a while. Campnab allows you to grab a cancellation as soon as it happens, before most folks find it. And we'll bring you to the Tillamook Coast this Wednesday!
We were in Florence last week and enjoyed the Old town, Heceta Lighthouse, and Sea Lions Cave. We are in northern Washington for wedding then heading south. We will be staying at Pacific City then heading to Crescent City, CA to see the Redwoods. I know the coastal drive will be beautiful, but how will the driving be with a class a gasser? Thanks.
To be honest I'm not sure, Donald. My age is not yet advanced enough to usually qualify, although I was surprised the other day to be offered a senior discount at a restaurant for anyone over 50.
