We get ready to leave Tipperary Waters Marina and make our way around the corner to the Dinah Beach careening poles.
Once the tide is out far enough Wendy begins the task of cleaning and scrubbing Nutshell’s hull to get her ready for antifoul paint.
She checks out the Prop Speed on the propeller and is pleasantly surprised by how well it has done its job!
She also discovers a broken through hull which Magnus fixes pronto!
After plenty of scrubbing and painting Nutshell is ready to make her way back to the Tipperary Waters Marina for the last time.
The davits arrive and Magnus begins to install them. It’s the last things we have been waiting for before we head off to Indonesia.
Thanks for watching.
Until next time…
Wendy and Magnus

I feel so cherished after watching your videos. Like I’ve spent a few days helping with the boat, sailing, having some drinks… you’ve captured the pure essence of the cruising sailor and shared if freely. I cant thank you enough.

Only one type of thru hull fittings and valves needed and thats Tru-design. 100% end of corrosion, seized valves, and no more metal issues ever. Good old Propspeed is doing its job on the prop.

with the supposedly none return hose on your motor it needs a vent up the top like used in the head

See you have a bonding system hooked up to the valves. But could not see any anodes? AISI 316 and bronze are dissimilar matals, but not dramatically far appart.

I found how 'thick' my boat was when I changed the depth and speed log transducers. I was amazed to find that the hull was 50mm thick at that point.

I think I saw your rock scrape. Didn't look too bad and as you didn't comment on it I guess it was OK. Bon voyage.

Fortunately it was only a scrape which we were very happy about. Nothing a bit of paint couldn’t fix! W.

Had many happy beers in the bar at Dinah beach, I worried about you wading in there ! Seen plenty of green handbags in the creek over the years .

If you get anymore toys you will have to tow a Butty behind you as a garage 😉, the davits are a great adition and should make for quick and easy launching, are Careening poles an Australian thing or do they have them in other parts of the world as I have only ever seen them on your channel.
@LifeinaNutshell
@LifeinaNutshell Год назад
The davits have been great. We need to adapt them a bit better for the solar panel. I’m not sure about whether careening poles are elsewhere. I’ve Googled it but can only find that boats are careened on beaches without the poles. W.
@matui6983
@matui6983 11 месяцев назад
The poles arr also here in NZ. More commonly known here as a Grid. Used to be super common before Travellifts. We also have the Floating Dock system which is brilliant. You drive the boat into a sunken cradle which the gets inflated and the boat is lifted out of the water to then get worked on, painted etc.
