Another trip to a time that perhaps never was, but certainly will never be again. If the memories weren't so joyous, it would be sad, but instead it's like a trip to a wonderful yesterday. Thanks Midnight Special!

I remember this one, I think Jerry Lee was in the middle of a comeback and it had a couple of songs chart not long before this. I was barely a teenager and had never really seen him before, it was a lot of fun I can't wait to see it again

Jerry Lee, doing version of 1960's Sam & Dave " Hold On" He still retained, his Pentecostal influence of background, right thru all the ups & downs. A few years ago, he " made it right" with the Lord, prior to his promotion!

Tina Turner doing River Deep is a whole concert in one song. The Killer was everywhere during this time, Hee Haw, and any variety/ talk show he could get booked on, I never knew his earlier scandal, by this time all had been forgotten. BB will be his smooth self, and most of the rest of the artist will, I believe will fall into my favorite category, songs that were the soundtrack of a particular time, but no longer get played on the Oldies stations. Can't Hardly wait!

Dalton and Dubarri was an excellent surprise in this set. Great seeing Peter Banks (ex Yes) band Flash. Tina Turner is always powerful. Shame on the director for never showing keyboard players laying down the groove with a Clavinet or soloing on a synth.

That was Ike playing those parts, and the fact he's never once on camera can't be a coincidence. I wonder if maybe he did something to really piss off the producers of the show.

Hello MS and all my friends, I'm sorry I missed out on tonight's live chat but I was too over come with the passing of Wayne Kramer a personal friend of mine and who I recently spoke with. He told me he didn't feel great but wanted to release a new recording "reigniting the spirit of 1968 when we were young revolutionaries, I think we are at a very dangerous time in our history, and if we don't all organize, come together and step up, we could lose it all. Democracy could go away, the forces that we are up against are not joking, this is not playtime, this is serious". MC5 attitude until his end, a true stand up man and musician RIP. This follows the emotional passing of my friend and mentor Peter Brotzmann last year followed by the death of his lifelong manager Jost Gebers, which has been beyond too much too take. I will have my party hat on next week and see y'all then! Thanks for all the hello's and goodbyes in chat! 😉

“River Deep-Mountain High” was written by Ellie Greenwich. She lived a few blocks from me on Long Island. She went to Memorial High School and after she graduated in 1958 taught at my high school MacArthur High School before becoming a songwriter. She eventually married Jeff Barry and together they wrote many early musical classics. I have her “Let It Be Written, Let It Be Sung” album which contains her version of “River Deep-Mountain High” and eleven other great self-written songs. It’s a lost classic.
