Episode 44. Catching the ferry from Santander to Rosslare in Ireland, from Belfast to Liverpool and then riding my Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 all the way home to Scotland after 5 months and 12,000 miles.
Ian . What can we say ? You have taken us with you on an epic adventure .... Thank you... We will be right here waiting on the next one ! (Trusting we haven't all gone on our own adventures after all your tremendous encouragement many thanks) See you out there
What a great series of videos, fantastic!! We are all now looking forward to your next trip. I just wish I had the courage to do what you have done but at 84 I feel I may be pushing it a bit. However, we have, in some small way, been with you. Thanks again for sharing it all with us. Very best wishes from your other subscriber 🏍
Thank you Ian for sharing your journey with us. Loved all of your videos and can't wait for you to earn some biker beans and start your next adventure. Also thanks for showing the world what the mighty V Strom will do. She's done you proud mate. EPIC !!!
Thanks for taking us all along on your Adventure Ian the videos and writing have been brilliant can't believe it's been 5 months looking forward to more in the future.
Thanks for sharing your adventure Ian. I bought an electrically heated jacket and gloves seven years ago. They are a game changer for cold weather riding. One lesson learned, I take my jacket everywhere on a journey after leaving it behind last May. I left France 28C and South England below 10C, I've never been so cold. I think a 650 is the best size for a trip like yours
It’s been thoroughly enjoyable to watch your amazing adventure, very inspiring as I may have mentioned before! Thanks for sharing your journey, and I’ll look forward to your next adventure, wherever that may be! Cheers, Paul 👍
May the post ride buzz last a long time. Then back to the drawing board. Well done doing what you did!! A man of any age would be proud of your epic trip. So glad an "oldie' has to show the young uns how to do a proper trip;)
Say hello to Manchester for me, lived and worked there for many years before moving to Western Australia 23 years ago on our great adventure . Ride safe and will wait in anticipation for your next great adventure, 😊.
From an old biker(72) to you. Thanks mate . Enjoyed your video diary to africa and back. I have travelled much of the world by M/bke and loved every minute of it. Northern Australia coming up next month. snakes and Crocs permitting . Ride safe.
Hi Ian thank you for taking us along. Would appreciate a ballpark breakdown of your costs and necessary visas etc as I would love to attempt something similar. Thanks again
Fantastic series Ian…Huge Congrats !! Loved the footage and the recap photos were brilliant too - must have an absolute blast for you reviewing and selecting a few the summed up that part of your adventure. Thanks for sharing the experience.. Enjoy a wee rest, then on to the next trip !! Cheers 🥃🥃🎶🎶🍺😎🏍️👌👌👌👏👏👏
Ian. I love the V Strom and am looking for one just now - that is how I came across the videos last November - and followed the series all along so that I feel I travelled with you. What is mad is that, after all the countries and all the roads, in THIS episode you rode by my village when you crossed the border into Northern Ireland! You could almost see my house when riding towards Newry! I have really, really enjoyed the series, so thank you. I look forward to the last of the series and a walkaround of the bike. Then I look forward to the NEXT trip!Best wishes, Art
😔your home safe and what memories you've made, thanks for sharing your trip over the winter months, even inspired me to get my go pro out and record my own trips all be it only France --again Thank you
Well done Ian you did it. I’ve watched all your videos and enjoyed every one. I’m going to miss them. But looking forward to your next trip. All the very best, Ian. And thanks again. Best wishes from your subscriber. 🍺👍
Hi Ian. I just wanted to say thank you for the 44 episodes of travel. I am off to Spain in a couple of weeks and have been very motivated by your adventure. Might get as far as Portugal but that will do for now. All the best in the next one and again Thank You Paul
Thanks for all the videos. I did a similar route early 2023 and you stopped at a couple of campsites I used, even nearly the same spot on one. Think I'll do it again soon or maybe head east somewhere. Take care and happy travels
Thank you for letting us come on your journey it's been brilliant to watch. It would be interesting to see what your vstrom has needed on your journey and what it needs now to put it back to pre journey condition 😁
Haste ye back Ian,what an amazing ride I've been on since you left Scotland, I've waited in anticipation for the next video one after another and enjoying each one more and more, what an amazing man you are, making a trip like that at 64 is truly incredible, I wish you health and wealth for your next adventure and just hope I stumble across you over the summer when I'm out and about in the west of Scotland, outstanding achievement.
Fantastic Ian, I've followed you from the off on here and the vstrom group and have enormous respect for what you've gone through, your enthusiasm for history and architecture is infectious. I will watch these episodes over and over. My favourite country has to be Morocco and will be going down there on my vstrom soon. Very many thanks for 5 months of great pleasure following you. Looking forward to the last episode and then the next tour. Still think you should lead a small group tour, you're a natural. Stay warm and safe. Best regards Steve.
If your ever popping over the water to Largs Vegas I will put the kettle on ☕️😉 Thanks for sharing your adventure thoroughly enjoyed it 👌🏼 Keep it up and keep them wheels rolling 😉
Sad to see it over! I absolutely LOVE the desert! Hope you had a good visit with your family and the chipped bone is healing well! Glad you're back safe, as an ex courier I can say, 'respect'! Hurtling through the border, man on a mission, safe parameters, nice! I was expecting more traffic in Belfast, that was well a surprise. All those ferrys.. our summer service got cancelled just this week.. grrr! And I stubbed my big toe and properly fractured it, so I've joined the hopalong gang!! Stay warm, I've heard good things about those jackets.
Glad you are home safe and sound Ian. It's been amazingly interesting and informatave following your beautiful adventure. Wish you many more safe and enjoyable adventures.... cheers Ahmad
Congratulations on finishing an epic journey and vlog, its been brilliant to 'ride' along with you. Thank you so much and I look forward to the final round up. 👏👏👏

Never mind your journey has come to an end, so has mine and your subscriber, going to miss the journey and what a journey it has been, but as you say all good things come to an end. You even passed through my neck of the woods when you arrived in Birkenhead😊 So Ian it might be so long for now, but already looking forward to your next adventure. Thanks
Great series and adventure mate, glad your home ok. Many memories to last a lifetime. would stick with the bigger bike, they cope better with luggage than smaller bikes. Many thanks for sharing with all of us, much appreciated.
What a great series, congratulations. Am sure we are all awaiting your next adventure. The thing i like about your channel, is that its down to earth, and'natural', not staged, and certainly not made with a pompousness seen in so many RU-vidrs..... Again, jolly well done 🤜🤛
My heart is beating faster till you arrived safe in your country home.I've got the same bike ,but i'am not strong and brave as you are!!Congrat for your marvellous 5 months trip,What a wonderfull times and memories .you are a true gentelman and i admire you!Well done,
Your RU-vid subscriber has been joined by a few more since the beginning of your trip haha I take my hat off to you sir , what a remarkable achievement! Looking forward to your next adventure.
Großartig, was du für eine Reise hinter dir hast. Respekt für diese Leistung. Für mich ist es eine Inspiration ähnliches zu unternehmen. Grüsse aus dem Schwarzwald.
Great semi last vid - 12,000 miles true adventurer, bit of a plan but always ready to change route, nothing fazed you since the start - hats off to you, you’ve put the rest of us semi mid 60ts guys and girls to shame 😢 but given us great ideas - loved the music when you were in Spain it was Spanish/ Mexican music then you arrive in Ireland it’s Celtic music then you arrive in Scotland it’s highland music 😂🤣 I’ll miss these vids - honest travelling - one man one bike 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi buddy, it's your true subscriber here, don't leave it to long before the next vid, even if it's giving the bike a good clean, or how you are planning your next epic adventure. Perhaps a few vids around your beloved Scotland. The evenings won't be the same. I'm sure I speak for all the other subscriber who have followed you. Stay safe, ride safe and get the next video out soon pls
Really enjoyed following your adventure Ian. Look forward to hearing about next one. And the video on what you learnt about the bike, luggage, equipment, etc. Heading off for the month of June to Morocco on my GS. I’ll retrace some of your steps. Stay safe. Padraig.
Great vid to finish of your trip Ian. on a side note, I spotted a suzuki vstrom yesterday in Renfrew parked outside a tattoo shop, had a quick look at the stickers on the bike & realised it might be your bike, I had a quick look around for you in case you were wondering what I was up to hovering around your bike, just wanted to say hello as I'm enjoying your vids, atb Stevie
Welcome back. 🥶Your travels and vids will be missed but watched over many times. Looking forward to your next mission should you take on the challenge. We will all be waiting. 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿
Glad your back home safe Ian, have really enjoyed watching your adventure, I’m itching to get away myself but have got two pinched nerves in my spine so am waiting on Salford Royal now to get me fixed up best wishes for now pal hopefully see you on your next trip this summer.
Ian, it was nice to be on your back seat, virtually, through the whole trip from Helensburgh and back. I got here on my armchair no dust, rain, wind, sun caused skinburning, money expences, currency lacking etc. Your footage was on high level and professional all the time. Moreover your voice is pleasant and specially suitable for talk inserts. I think, if there were a row of bikes, I would know now the sound of your bike. Thanks afterwards from Kotka Finland.
You should have told me you were coming to Manchester, you could have popped in for a brew. Watched all your vids and enjoyed them. (Geoff. 1250 Suzuki Bandit rider) Can't wait for the final one! Ride safe.
