Would be fantastic if Mr. Anderson uploaded the recordings of the Ingalls' friends he interviewed. Wow what a podcast that would be.📚

THRILLED to see Mr. Anderson’s interview. In the late 80’s, after visiting DeSmet because I got them interested in the books, my parents bought me his biography of Laura. I was enthralled to read what the books left out. So grateful for his work and of course passed this legacy to my daughter. Now a middle aged adult, she and I finally visited the home sites in WI, MN and SD 2 years ago. This year she’s going to Mansfield with her husband and attending the Little House celebration in CT. Thank you isn’t enough for all he and the LIW groups do to preserve the sites and stories. And those of you on the TV series-thank you for loving the Ingalls-Wilders and being so generously, graciously involved with it all. And with us.

Loved this interview! As a child born in 73, I don’t remember my teachers reading this to us. I wish they had! I vaguely remember an excerpt of one of the books (I think it was On the banks of Plum Creek) being included in our literature book. I didn’t get it because it didn’t look or sound anything like the TV show. 😂 I didn’t end up reading them until I was an adult and reading them to my kids. I do so want to travel to all the historic sites. One day I will! A funny thing I think about is that on a cross country move in 2015 from GA to NW WA state, my kids were watching LHOTP in the car on the DVD player. Maybe as we traveled through some of the same states they did. ❤️

Bill Anderson is such a treasure trove of Laura info. I have every one of his books about Laura. I am also a fan of both the books and the show and have a special place in my heart for both. Really enjoying these podcasts. Great job, Alison, Dean, and Pam.

Wow that is so cool! What a great historian he is. Did your uncle ever have children? Does the literary/historian gene continue on?

@@amorgan8040sadly he never had children TvT We often talk about history and art a lot. He's honestly one of the only family members that gets me tbh. We started talking about Mount Rushmore because we were there at the time and it was awesome!

@@amorgan8040I really wish I saw him more :( but it's always fun when my family gets together. Most of the time when he comes to my house, we go downstairs since I have an art room down there and we draw and doodle

@@courtneyoreilly5913 Awe, well thankfully he has a niece who appreciates him! I remember meeting him outside the Mansfield museum home years ago and he struck me as so affable. What wonderful historical contributions he has made to the real Laura's legacy. He has a lot of fans who appreciate his good work!

Number one this 50’year concept is great! Thank you and I expect as more people pick up On this podcast the viewers will grow.. a little surprised not already much larger. For todays podcast.. if you have not been to Mansfield take trip! I did not realize how relatively short both wilders were ( no short jokes Nellie.. lol) and how they tailored the house for their needs

You are my people. I am both a TV and book person lover of all things LHOTP. I loved them both. It was such a joy to watch the show and read the books with my daughter when she was a pre teen to re live it all over again and to visit Pepin, WI, Walnut Grove, MN and De Smet, SD in 2017 when she was 12 yr old w/ our 9 yr old son. It was a fantastic experience and I wish I would have known about the tourist things when I was a kid. I have listened to all the podcasts thus far (not in real time) and listening to Bill Anderson has been my favorite yet as his love for history and LIW radiates thru the screen w/ his wonderful humor and stories about his college years. I will be going to Simi Valley and experiencing the 50th anniversary on the Fri of the Festival and cant wait to go on the tour of Simi Valley and experience all things the festival has to offer.

A friend of mine and I are huge LHotP tv series fans. The episode where Layra goes to get her books published was on. I remember telling my friend that Almanzo was a modern man for his times for not stifling Laura’s ambitions.

I'm only 4½ minutes in, watching 2 hours after this posted, and the stats on the video currently are 18 likes and 67 views. 1867 - year of Laura's birth. 2 - month of Laura's birth. Was this podcast done yesterday, February 7, 2024, on the 157th anniversary of Laura Ingalls Wilder's birth? I'm glad I saw the stats at those positions, as they'll surely grow.
