We appreciate your dedication to set up the camera, go back down and then ride up the hill - again! Several times. Tells the story well but a lot of effort. Thanks.

Enjoying the videos, Danny. It’s an extra cost, and another item to recharge, but I ride with a Garmin Varia radar. I find it to be a fantastic tool when out on the road. Well worth the investment. Cheers, Leroy.

Glad you're enjoying them Leroy :) I did look into Garmins' when preparing for this trip, but I was keeping the budget as low as possible for this one. Definitely something I'd consider for a future trip. Thanks for the recommendation ✌

I also use a Garmin Varia w/camera now, after being T-boned by a "non- observant driver". Best investment ever.

Tough day. We really like those bike paths around Tathra, and between Narooma and Dalmeny, But the Princes Highway sections you had to do are very scary. Again, you achieved huge kilometres. Hats off to you.

That last stretch of paths into Dalmeny was incredible. This day was a killer haha, thanks :)

Probably the most picturesque section of your trip so far.

It just might be, so many great places in this one. The east Gippsland rail trail (day 3) is also a top contender for that title I recon.

I am really enjoying your trip. Really great show. Dunno how you can get up and get back on the bike each day. Is this your first long bike trip cos you are like a pro
@dannydonehue

@@snorkelreefing Hey, glad you’re enjoying it :) This was my first bikepacking trip yeah. I suppose the fact that I had a time limit and a destination meant that I had nothing to do but pedal until I get there. Once I left home my options were make it to my destination each day, or don’t, in that way I think diving in the deep end was the best way to go about this.

@@dannydonehue You were much more resilient and mild-mannered than I would be. Especially when my body sugars are depleted. Kudos.

I guess you've already finished this ride, but, pack some Jerky or biltong to add to your easy mac, it'll add much needed protein to your mac n cheese.

This was between December 16th - the 24th so yeah it's all done now. Had snacks with me for all of this journey, beef jerky being one of the best (nuts, chocolate, dried fruit, biscuits etc.) . I'd try to snack as much as I could between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner to avoid running out of energy on the road. And yeah after eating that easy Mac I sat in the tent and filled up on snacks before sleeping, was very necessary haha, was a very hungry boy.

Why did you choose to use ride with GPS over strava
@dannydonehue
@dannydonehue 11 дней назад
Good question, was hard to choose my navigation app. But from advice on bikepacking reddits I heard that the planning & navigation on ridewithgps is better. I've only really used Strava for recording rides (free), unsure how it works for planning & following a route. Found ridewithgps to be easy to plan routes with (on the pc web page), and the navigation on the app was just fine.
@bruce.KAY-bike-drifter
@bruce.KAY-bike-drifter 4 дня назад
Having used Strava for many years, it is definitely the BEST social media App for recording your achievements. Especially my mountain biking. However, despite the software engineering team from Strava continuously trying to add navigation and route planning capability to please their marketing guys, Strava is still not a good ride planning tool. I plan my rides with RidewithGPS. I ride with my Garmin to navigate. This gives me the ability to transmit my course as I go, so my wife can follow the dots from home. Vital for safety when I'm in the wilderness. Then, I publish my achievements on Strava. You can link them all up. I prefer to play to each application's strengths.
