It's hard to find good pistol drills that challenge shooters at every level and don't get old after a while. Pete joins Jimmy to talk about three drills that he and the other instructors at Vortex Edge continually go back to in order to assess their skill progression and potential areas of improvement. The best part about these drills is all of them are entirely scalable in terms of difficulty and challenge so you'll never outgrow them as you develop your skill.

I like the Baer Standard for developing a better grip; it helped me alot. The theory behind that particular drill is that any fair pistol shooter can shoot 3 rounds with a good degree of accuracy, but after 3 rounds, the grip starts to break down. There's also an element of throttle control, as the last 3 shots of the drill happen after a mag change and on a smaller target. I'm going to try this El Presidente. Good stuff guys hope this channel takes off!

Haven't played with that drill too much but it does make sense to us. Hope you like the El Prez.

One of our local ranges run by DNR has those spinning steel targets as well as Steel targets that fall down when you hit them. Some of my favorite practice. :)

@@Repeal.The_NFA Absolutely. I called there to get input on sorting out which scope (for a certain hunt/gun) would be best. Talked me through the specs and didn't try to upsell me.

These are all good drills to practice, I typically get out with live fire with my pistol every couple weeks and I bring around 20 magazines of 15 and 17 rounders and try to work on shooting draws and finding my optic then I'll do 1 + 5 or 6 round strings, then I try to finish with some moving then shooting, definitely have found dry firing has helped a lot 👍

All great things to work on and we are elated that you are dry firing and seeing the results because of the dry training.
