Katy and I have an emotional arrival into New York City after a few days of traveling down the Hudson River from Catskill, NY. The arrival in New York City marks a pivotal moment in our journey where Seawind gets her first taste of seawater and her crew anticipates the unknowns of the Atlantic Ocean. Join us as we travel by beautiful landscape, historical architecture, and stunning bridges. We also encounter some bad weather and have our first experience of lightning while actively moving on the boat.

Congrats on setting out goals and achieving them with hard work and determination……..something that used to be common but it is lost in the younger generations today, so good on you both!

Anchor in Manhasset bay. It’s free and usually safe. Or get a morning ball. Cheap! Then you can use the railroad for access to NYC and be very safe.

Nothing like some fresh mussels. I had some about two months ago in Annapolis. Fresh tender and mild . Best I’ve ever had. I’m always looking for a badass oyster poor boy. Gotta go to Gulf Coast . If food is on your agenda thats the place to go.

We had oysters in Annapolis but not mussels. If you’re ever in Catskill you have to check out Piccolo’s Italian Restaurant! Best mussels we’ve ever had. We love good food it’s always on our agenda 😁

Another great video, and I appreciate you sharing the feeling of your toils, and that they came to fruition. Life is good for the ones that are willing.

Enjoying your videos Might I suggest adding a hook to hold your anchor to prevent the strain on the windlass and also consider a snubber for when anchoring out to prevent strain on the platform.

Thank you! Yes we have one made by a company called Mantus. A chain hook with a 3 strand nylon snubber bridle for offloading the windlass

@@SailingSeawind Fantastic just wanted to make sure that you won't have to do too much repair work sooner than necessary

@@johnchilds4156 yes I couldn’t agree more thank you for the tip! We have prepared the boat fairly well for what we’re doing but we are definitely “newbies” at cruising and anchoring! Although we’re much more experienced than we were just a few months ago haha. We always welcome any suggestions!

I stumbled onto your videos recently curious of what travelling the Erie Canal looked like. Thanks for taking us end to end on that trip! Now seeing you guys deep down the Hudson has me wondering if you're gonna do The Great Loop. Regardless your trip intentions I am really glad I found your channel as I have been well intrigued by your videos. Shout out to Ashtabula, too! It is my current town of residence and I have always lived nearby. Be safe, my friends, have fun!

Glad you found our videos Wayne! It was really great putting them together to show people our experience of the Erie Canal. The Hudson River was an incredible experience as well! We actually aren’t doing The Great Loop. We’re in Miami right now waiting for a weather window to cross to the Bahamas. From there we will sail into the Caribbean Sea and over the coming years sail slowly around the world! Wow what a small world! We love Ashtabula! I bought the boat in Cleveland in 2016 and took it to Ashtabula Yacht Club that year and it became our home port for the restoration/learning to sail. We’ve been all over Lake Erie!
