I haven't done any river sailing, so I'd like to ask some silly questions. If I am sailing South in a current of 5 knots (its a wide fast river) and the wind is blowing South at 10 knots. Will I get my normal speed in 10 knots of wind? i.e. if I normally sail 5 knots in 10 knots of wind, will I now get 10 knots with current? What if the wind is on the beam and at a right angle to the water flow? If there is no wind at all will I have steerage going downriver?

How many boats do you have? Can we get a look in your shed ? Would love to know what surrounds you at home, sorry mate I'm nosey.😎✌️
