Really a gorgeous pipe and what a great job on the steaming the scratches and the dents. Final polishing was just gorgeous. Thanks for the lessons to improve all my pipes and showing me more common sense ways to do all this and to spend less ! Subbed for sure ! Regards and respect, LarryMac

If anyone is still interested .... the channel clams that BC pipes made their move to the USA in the early 1990's .... I bought my first BC pipe in Canada in 1983. As this is one of my favorite brands, I now own about 12 different BC pipes.

This was useful as I just bought one of their pipes. Like the Italians, they are artists and have a great tradition in pipe smoking. Everybody seems to produce in St. Claude in France. Butz-Choquin is not the same as Chacom, another big French producer I assume.

If and when you can a video on how to repair a broken shank would be wonderful. I've seen a lot of old estate pipes with the stem broken off in the shank, but there cheapest ones to buy are the ones that have been cracked in the shank. From the pictures, over-flexing or overtightening screw-in stems seems to have been the cause. Thanks, love your videos. Learning a lot. M.S.Tarot

Enjoyed the history about Butz Choquin. I had no idea they had been around for such a long time. Maybe when I am in the market for a brand new pipe I won't be so quick to Passover the BC models. They are extremely affordable in price. Well, looking forward to the next project. Especially how to tighten the stem and shank. Something tells me that steam may be involved in the process. Always a pleasure! Cheers!

@@pipesetc.5608 I haven't decided yet if I will go. I have a hard time leaving my animals all day like that. I have two dogs that are 13 and 15 years old. They need a lot of attention. I would truly enjoy going to Fort Worth for the show. It's about a three hour drive from my house. I will let you know if I can make it.

Excellent channel. However, you're incorrect when BC came to the US in the 1990s. I bought mine while still at university at the age of about 19 in 1983 from _The Tinder Box_ in Evanston, IL at the Old Orchard shopping mall. _The Tinderbox_ still exists but I think they only have one store now. For the longest time I thought the pipe was low quality but not with experience I think it's okay quality. It's not my best smoker but then again it was my first and the store clerk it right by suggesting it to me. I think I paid just north of $50 for mine and non-meerschaum. I noticed their prices have not increased that much in the several decades since.

Corvette Jim Piper thanks for watching. I have been experimenting and reading about it and I think I know what not to do, now I just need to figure out how to best sand out that bowl without ruining the lining.

Bonjour Monsieur, and Thank You for sharing this valuable information on the BC, to tell the truth I greatly favor French manufactured pipes and have them few, mostly Chacoms and Comoy's and Ropp, great pipes for the price, though often the air flow is on a bit more restricted than say on the Savinelli or Stanwells, those B&C Supermates are great pipes, and they are not cheap but rather higher end pipes, lately I'm noticing prices are on the rise for the well known French maker products, Looking forward on how You are gonna proceed further with this pipe, Best Greets, Paul

Paul The Scandinavian thank you. I think French estate pipes are quite underrated for their quality and you can pick them up for a bargain on eBay. They may not be as well known in North America which may be why there is a smaller market for them. But I have discovered that they are excellent value for money. This is my first BC and so far I have to say I am impressed by the quality of the manufacturing. Thanks for sharing the additional info and thanks for watching.
