EP393 - Model 3 Window Tinting. Was this the right decision?

Today, we got it finally done. After some consideration (see the last 2 videos), I decided to get the windows tinted to block out as much heat as possible here in sunny hot Australia.
The result is amazing and I really like the look with black windows, the chrome and the white body colour.
I also experience some more drama with the Sentry Viewer and had to reset the screen once again.

The tint looks really nice and was clearly a good idea. will be interesting to see the bubbles clear, or not! The issue with the sentry mode I think might be to do with the stroage. If you are using an SD card that may be the issue. SSD works much better. The recommendation from most users is the Samsung T5 SSD which is what I use and so far it has been flawless.

All bubbles have cleared and also the back window is now perfect without any wrinkles. I'm using an SD card at them moment and it's been in use for over a year in that purpose. The SD is designed for high frequent read and writing cycles. The T5 costs $125, the SD only $12. Both are from Samsung. I replaced the SD with another card I bought at the same time but also with this one it seems to have issues sometimes. Your car is brand new and I did not have any issues at the beginning too. Either wear and tear of the SD or the card reader?

I even see the battery do the same thing at as low as 80% Andy- it often rises after sitting for a few hours as it recalculates. As Summer comes along you will wonder how the hell you ever survived without window tint. Now you’ll have to disable the darkening outside rear view mirrors- takes about 5 minutes a side.

The windows were already tinted but now it's a lot better. My mirrors are fine, don't know, must be your eyes?

Doesn’t it seem like it’s giving you less range if you charge the 90% and then the computer re-calibrate and figures that you are really at 93%? I had the same thing happened to me about two weeks ago one morning when I charge to 80 was sitting at 83% but I didn’t think anything about it till I watched this

My 'S' does that about every time I set it to about 82% to finish charging by 7 AM, usually finish charging before 6 AM & crept up to 85% at 7 AM, it does consume extra power from the grid in that time.

I barely noticed any reduction in light after ours was done with the 99% UV reduced ceramic tint.

Most films do block 99.9% UV rays, the main factor of the film in which you’ll notice a difference is the infrared heat rejection. This is the the warmth you feel coming though the windows and the reason why Andy said he couldn’t feel any coming in through the side windows which were done in Rayno Phantom S9 (blocking 92% IR-heat). Other than that, if it’s the darkness of the film you’re talking about, that’s called the VLT (Visual Light Transmission). That’s how they measure how much light can pass through the window - the lower the number, the darker the film. The darkest legal varies between states, but you should be able to find all that information online too!

Purchasing ceramic window tinting we clean all the windows to ensure a clean and professional job. However a car wash isn’t included in a tinting quote unless asked for by the customer and would be charged as an extra service. Ceramic Paint Protection includes a full car wash and all necessary paint preparation would be included there.

Thanks Isaac. I didn't want to sound too negative about it. Some places do a full wash as a service. I want expecting it but hoping for it, so I didn't need to wash it myself 😂

John Reff yeah that sounds right. It’s the ‘freedom’ they have to ‘express’ themselves I find interesting.........and the matter of being an ‘accessory’ to the fact also. I don’t think anyone would do that for you out here.......?

david pearn I’m not sure. I live in central California and some places would do that not supposed to if it’s too dark for the law. There are always little differences and nuances in law between here and there and we can find ridiculousness seem probably but there’s some pretty ridiculous stuff here, and a big sense of entitlement I’ve seen with this young generation that we do not have in the 80’s

david pearn tinting the windshield is pretty stupid to me that’s not something that is normally done here! some of these assholes will tint their skin they’re such snowflakes.
