This is Episode 5 and the final video of this tour, covering Days 13 - 17 of my fantastic 18-day trip from the UK via Northern Spain to the 'Pyrenees, Portugal & Picos'.
The entire tour covered a ride into the Pyrenees, then across Spain to the highest area in Portugal, and then North into the wonderful Picos National Park at Fuente De, to spend our few last days exploring before returning via the Bilbao ferry.
The tour was organised by myself and Wayne Morris. Joining us, were 19 fellow motorcycle club members of the UK motorcycling club, www.pemc.co.uk. The PEMC club has over 300 members, mostly based in the UK, who enjoy a wide variety of well-priced events and trips based around the UK & Europe.
Day 13 ~ The weather was forecast poor for the entire day, so, I reduced our original route to a more direct 102 miles Northward from the Forte de Sao Francisco Hotel in Chaves, Portugal to the Hotel Temple Ponferrada in Spain.
Day 14 ~ We left Ponferrada for a 165 mile North-Easterly ride into the well-known bikers paradise of the Picos Mountains and our accommodation at the Parador de Fuente De, with easy access to a telecabin service and the mountain top towering behind the hotel.
Day 15 ~ A rest day and poor weather forced the decision to rest the motorcycles for most today. Ashley, his Sister Sukie and husband Chris chose the 2hr WALK up the trails to the summit and a refuge for lunch! Some decided to ride the local roads regardless of the weather. A few others and I took the telecabin option up the mountainside for some pics before a long lunch at the hotel opposite our accommodation, as the food and beers were considerably cheaper!
Day 16 ~ Again, the weather was unpredictable but as it was our last proper ride day, myself, Wayne & Mick rode a 96 mile loop to explore the nearby Cohilla Reservois, as seen on RichyVida’s RU-vid channel.
Day 17 ~ As the sailing departure time for our overnight ferry from Bilbao had been brought forward by Brittany Ferries to an early afternoon slot, I was unable to ride my longer planned route and we rode 130 miles, more or less direct.
It looks great on a Smart TV, as it’s filmed in HD.
