Hi thanks for video, can you briefly explain when setting times on and off for auto, what if you don’t want it to come on during the afternoon. For example only on in the morning and then again during the evening; what do we do with setting 3 and 4? If that makes any sense sorry.
Just had a new WB boiler, and this EPH Controls, fitted. As you say, thermostat control instructions are not great! Your video did the job for me - in Belfast. Thanks Pete, much appreciated.
Your lucky, I didn't even get a leaflet - just told to leave it alone. It's costing more than my previous arrangement, and that left much to be desired.
Smashed it - ace video - direct and to the point - appreciate the time and effort to make this and has saved me a confusing end to the evening trying to get my heating on without having to wake up to do it. Respect
This video was so useful, thankyou! Recently my thermostat is showing a much higher temperature than what the actual temperature is in my home, it is not positioned near a window or a heating source, would very much appreciate any advice!🙏🏼
Great video, helped me set the timer ready for the weather getting colder. I have had it over a year and kept using manual control because I didn't really understand the instructions to set timer...I still don't know how to skip the 3 and 4 as I don't have heating on through the afternoon when I'm at work, this is the only thing that the video didn't address. So I have had to set an afternoon timer that I don't really want. Otherwise it's great 👍
Just moved into a new house in the middle of winter. Didn't have a clue how to work this. Now you've taught me, it's very simple and effective. Thank you so much 😉
@Combicert Gas it's OK, I found the answer. Unlike other timers, this doesn't have an "OFF" time. It only has a higher of lower temperature. So, setting a low temperature for when I want it to turn off will do the trick !@
Thank you this was really helpful. Can I ask I’ve used the programme function and set it to 21.0 when it’s on and 18.0 when it’s off. Is it more cost effective to set it to a lower temperature when it’s off? Or is 18.0 okay, I just thought it would be more expensive to set it really low when it’s off and then it has to work harder to get it to 21.0 when it’s on.. hope that makes sense? Thanks!
Good question… and one you could probably answer by taking meter readings to see the difference. I guess there are lots of factors at play when finding out how long it takes to increase temperature in a home and it’d be just about impossible to answer on here. Depends on house size, ventilation, windows, rad sizes, doors… etc etc. I tend to set mine at around 15 when not at home and 20 when at home… but heating your home when you’re not there is probably a bad idea - in the majority of cases. Pete
Thank you so much, had a Baxi fitted last week my previous boiler didn’t come with a temperature box so I didn’t know what I was doing. It came on at 4am, I have fully understood your video and managed to get it off woman flush mode 😳
Thank you so much! Heat was always on even in summer and the instructions are terrible as you said! The temp to come on at was too warm so it was always on! You explained it nice and simply, thank you.
Oh thank you someone who actually explained it properly 😂 I was lost I didn’t no how to make it go in at 3am for only 20 minutes and then turn off at 3.20 cause on number 2 there is still a temperature you have to set and that lost me I thought why am I setting a temperature for the time it’s going off 😂
Hi. My EPH controller buttons are working. The screen is up and showing room temperature and date as normal but none of the buttons are working. Could you please advise on how to sort this. Thanks a lot
Hi my mothers home all day nearly . is it possible to have the heating on in the morning and maintain say 20 degrees and at night 12 degrees every 7 days
Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I noticed that my EPH control does not make the clicking sound when I press MAN or off, and hence, my heating does not come on. I reset it, yet there is no difference. Please, what else can I do?
Hmmm… sounds like an issue with the receiver to me… assuming the temp is set high when you hit manual? Have you turned it right up to it’s maximum? I’d probably do basic checks such as the pressure on boiler etc… before looking at wiring/replacing receiver though.
Done that the only way the boiler is going on is when I press the button beside the boiler and it turns green ,it doesn't go off either when I press manual and put the temp up
my EHC combi boiler has its own program in the main body. Which does it follow? The one on the main boiler body or the one in this remote. I have seen that even if i put the remote on manual mode from 10 am to 11 am , if the program in the main unit does not have the central heating program from 10am to 11am the boiler does not swtich on , even though the fire symbol comes on in the remote. Can you help ?
The radiator upstairs is not working while downstairs is working any advice?? I tried what you explained it was helpful but still not working upstairs!!!
I don't know if I'm going to be answering my own question here but... I have set the auto to the times I want, but the no6 seems to be keeping the boiler on. I want it to turn off at 8:00 PM. To make the boiler go off ready for the next morning, do I need to lower the temperature right down so it goes off and stays off until the morning when it's set at 6:45? 🤔
@@petegasguy thanks so much! I don't like having the heating on overnight so will set it to the lowest so it doesn't come on at all 😊 you're instructions are so much easier to understand than the booklet!
So helpful, thank you. Just had this fitted and hadn't a clue. One question if I may, once you've set the times for the auto function and no longer require those times, how can I delete these? So for example, I set number 4 to come on at 10pm and number 5 to go off at 11pm, how do I delete this? Thank you 😊
Superb video and well explained How do i only use 2 times of the day ( morning on/off and midday on/off) but i dont want to use the 5 and 6 option (3rd on/off setting) on the day? In auto mode Cheers
Hi how does the copy work plse is it possible you can do a quick demo video on this please I'm not tech savey & the booklet not to clear or if anyone out there can help me Thanks
Can I just Turn the the heating on and off when I want to the temperature it is set at ? Do I need to set the program times . As I am in most of the time. Thank you . It is easier for me .
So when it’s in manual and the flame is on. Once the flame is gone Does the thermostat switch off once it has hit the temperature?? Like I mean once it hit temperature my heating goes off and if it fall below temperature my heating will come back on? Or is the heating constantly on when it on MAN mode?? sorry really new to this I watched and set the time and date perfectly but unsure of the above question
Yes - when it reaches temperature it will knock off… it will then refire when the temperature drops. Manual… if you set it to 20degrees 24/7- it’ll try and maintain 20degrees 24/7
Hope someone can answer my question as I reset ours. In the 24H programme, do I only have to set the times and temperatures once as they will cover every day in the same way?
what does the copy button do ? just thad one installed asked the gas engineer to set it up monday to sun same times each day but does not seem to be working more so when room temp drops combi does not come on the maintain room temp ??
@@petegasguy I also have this problem but the reciever seems to be making a bit of a crackling noise, doesnt seem to connect properly and doesn't fire up after altering the temp for it to kick in?
@@jake0r sounds like a loose connection within the receiver. Power off - pz1 screwdriver and check all connections. Check power is definitely off before commencing checks
@@petegasguy I'm 95% sure that is the case now that you've confirmed it, I'll probably be better off contacting the installer as I'm not very handy and have no ability to fix it myself
Hi Pete, sorry to be a pain. One question. I have the control on MAN to adjust as required for temperature. Every night and morning do I have to *reduce/increase* the temperature, OR, can it be set to be OFF at 1030pm and ON at 7am?
Manual - it does what it says on the screen... Sounds like you want to make a programme for it to follow. So i would set it to schedule and make a programme for it to be on an off at those times... you can still move temp up and down when on a schedule with the override
Any idea why the flame symbol is not coming on? When the heating is on the flame symbol no longer comes on. It's hard wired and yesterday i turned the boiler off and since then when the radiators are on the flame symbol doesn't come on. And weirdly heating came on last night even though temp was higher than the setting.
I don't want to set" holiday"function, during the Summer,I want the heating off altogether. When my boiler was fitted the engineer told me NOT to use the off button as this would turn off the hot water too. How do I switch off just the heating please?
@@petegasguy thank you for that. It is a combi boiler, an Alpha Evoke 33,so it's going to be alright to press the off button during Summer, and not lose hot water? Then simply switch it back to auto, and the timings and temperature etc will be restored to what they were programmed originally ? Just need to be sure.
What if you only want the heating to come on twice a day? I tried setting the on and off time the same for say number 5 & 6 but it keeps adjusting them 10 minutes apart. Thanks!
Hi can someone help me? Once I’ve set the programme according to the time and temperature I want. Say the room temperature is 21 degrees but in my programme I’ve sent the heating to come on now at 20 degrees? Doesn’t seem to come on? Am I setting this wrong? And it’s on the auto setting
Just a ‘connected’ signal - this one wasn’t connected to anything wirelessly... so it was probably searching for the receiver which is connected to a boiler
Hi my thermostat is not connecting to my Eco compact boiler …..so my boiler keeps firing up independently of settings I’ve programmed on the thermostat Edit: it’s flashing red on the signal sign
