Sorry, i couldnt reply this question earlier, I ve just seen this comment. Let me explain it like this: In the writings of Tolkien, there are no female rulers seen in dwarven community. They were seen in Numenor like Ancalime or Silmaren, or Lothlorien like Galadirel. But not in dwarven community. And since Dain is a proved warchief, Commander and a member of the royal blood, he is the very candidate for the throne. Shortly, we can say that dwaves are a male dominated community.
