I haven’t seen something like that in a while. It’s nice to have a fresh, I interesting spin on what would have been a pretty normal fight. This is exactly what I look forward to on this channel.
Not gonna lie, my brain had a hard time processing the fact that grombrindal was the dawi opponent here. "Grombrindal is trying to kill those dwarf. -Waite, what? Oh that grombrindal" is a speach I've had several time in my head during this glorious battle.
tbh I'm happy there aren't too many cool terrain features mainly because CA's pathfinding AI is completely braindead when not in completely even terrain. Either the regiments form 1-man queues when rounding corners, become blobby mess, pathfind to even-god-doesn't-know-where, or otherwise break.
Thanks for casting this game Indy! I think this has to be the most fun game I've played all patch, but the play has nothing on your cinematics and videography! I think you are probably right that grombrindle needed to ignore my vanguard and go straight for the artillery. I didn't realize how much damage the poison winds did till I watched this. I think Grombrindle popped rod twice on only Belegar, so I assume he was either hoping for the leadership debuff to break him, or it does more damage to SE than I thought too.
Shetland Apache Thanks for this great game! I was wondering: is there any reason why you used dwarf warriors with great weapons rather than the shielded, regular ones against skaven, who are rather lightly armoured as a faction?
@@felixhesse9902 My one real concern taking an army like this was doomflayers. I took the 4 gw warriors and the ror miner cause I wanted to at least feel like i would damage them if they were present. I'm still not sure its worth the extra cash though.
@War_Catx 13 Well, the rangers chased the jezzails all the way around the cliff so I could cut off the retreat. The dwarf warriors great weapons were shamefully chasing off one of the slaves that they were originally ignoring when attacking my bolts.
MY GOD THIS REPLAY IS AWSOME. the last time i have seen a replay this good was like 1 year ago but this has got to be the best replay i have ever seen! Keep casting replays and keep casting overcast pit of shades.
What beautiful examples of a) the dwarf player creating a pressuring situation immediately, with multiple strongpoints and overlapping enfilade fire that really turned the heat on, and b) that eshin backstab at 8:30 gutting a perfectly vulnerable position, chef kiss

yeah interesting idea but pretty risky- if the skaven'd just ignored the hill with no artillery or lord & gone the other way full force it'd force the dwarves to chase through the mud- you'd get the same lategame but without 80% of the skaven casualties...
I can't have been the only guy hearing 'The Battle of Pelleanor Fields' in my head when those full-strength Warriors and Rangers came in at the end, right?
That was a great battle, very nice to see someone try something different in terms of both build and tactics. The arty on both sides was brutal and the Death Runner RoR were absolute blenders. Great cast Indy, and props to both players for a hard fought game.
This is one hell of a replay; having a very unusual map was great, having a very unusual force was excellent, and having players good enough to exploit the weaknesses in such a spread deployment was great. To notch.

A full vanguard dwarf is a vanguard where the lord has to run during 2 minutes too get to his army. During that time your army has destroy the enemy or has been destroy by the enemy :)
This was hilarious! Amazing battle! Been watching lots, lots of battles over the last year or more, but this one was a fabulous one. I loved the tactical/strategic depth of the deployment and the necessity to adapt. Absolutely glorious! Please more of those asymmetric battles!
I got curb stomped by a similar build on my first online match. I was lizardmen and took as much armor piercing as I could (mainly red crested skinks) and a few Cold One Cavalry to take on artillery or ranged units. The match loaded and I only saw a few dwarf warrior units and thought "wow, dwarves are more expensive than Lizardmen!" Only to get ambushed from behind with tons of rangers.
That was a brutal map deployment for the Skaven to overcome. Not a perfect game by neither player but the initial position was so massive in favor of the Dwarves thanks to the Vanguard deployment it was a massive uphill battle, literally, for the Skaven.
I am more of a rattyboy myself... They got everything I enjoy the most (execpt maybe some flying missiles ? xD) But I gotta admit, that dwarven strategu was awsome to watch, and I rooted for them until the end!
I really thought this was going to be a decisive victory for the Dwarves, but some bad micromanagement on their part and good moves by the Skaven nearly tipped the scales. Really did come down to just scraping their units for all they had left.
great game, always love seeing the dawi win! BTW indy, are you planning on doing another trials of tzeentch sometime soon/ I love that game mode and I miss seeing it.
It's not the CPU, it's the SSD that matters here. Also, the whole discounted game with DLCs costs as much as a low build. So, if you are having $$$ problems, stay away from it.
I believe charge bonus, fatigue, leadership, and fire arc are all affected positively or negatively depending where you are on a hill in relation to your opponent. I know for sure that charge bonus and momentum are severely impacted when trying to charge up hill
I'm from Brazil, and I want to say that i really really Love your battles of total war II, but please, speak more slowly, sometimes I think that u speak very fast and I can't understand. Again, I love your battles and your strategy. Congratulations for your work and best regards! :D
