Epic Games Invest $15M Core Maker Manticore Games

Today it was announced the Epic Games lead a $15M round of funding for Manticore Games, the makers of the Core platform. The Core Platform is a game creation platform built on top of the Unreal Engine. In this video we will discuss the investment and Core iteself and ask if this is the future of gaming/social media?

@@holdthetruthhostage No. I think they don't want the trouble of dealing with royalty issues. Inevitably some people would be importing models they aren't allowed to use even if Core tell them not to.

Thanks for the update I’ve been seeing them promote heavily with RU-vidrs, but have never thought about trying core because monetization wasn’t there. It would be nice to be able to port to mobile with the ability to monetize once those 2 get sorted I’m on board!

This is actually pretty cool. Seems like a great place game devs, gamers, and content creators can interact with one another. Really would like to see what I can do with it prototype wise. Monetization is a plus as well.

I tried using core and for some reason some of the games looked like after a while of playing my character was starting to separate I dont know if it was Core or an issue with the rx 5700 xt.

The only thing keeping me from wanting to use this is not being able to load in your own custom assets. I'm an artist, so i love making my own models and such, and not being able to kinda kills the joy of creating. I may mess with some of the games others have made at the very least.

This basically unity prefabs and example projects but has some restrictions , like core is more like game modding framework than an actual game creation tool , being bulid upon unreal I see why unreal invest in this module framework while they building UE5 .

@Peter Lustig if you think about it, there almost nothing like Dreams on PC , sure there's game modding games like Minecraft and robolox But it's not the main *core* future someone has to do it . Dreams isn't Garbage tbh its really good that it exceed my expectations infact I heard many people got hired because Dreams creation, sure it's not the first try to do something similar Microsoft had something similar but got cancelled around 2015, I didn't get my hands on dreams but I see many creation that probably I couldn't do even tho I have 5 years experience in unity Besides I love seeing more tools for indie devs

I think core is what expect to see in game guru but I'm not sure if didn't give i try if the core is what I expect except I by able to make quick prototype before i make the game logic for others game engines like unity

Lately yes. I don't like where Chrome is going and lately FF is way too much of a resource pig. So, Edge it is. Chromium Edge is actually really good.

Single game developer who designs 3d games, graphics, sound, coding. . one game = 1 million dollars five games = 5 million dollars 300 games = 300 million dollars how long does it take to make a game 3-10 years. Depending teams. I've been there 3 years in unity. I have hard time creating new idea for game.

build a team, that time can be reduced to 1 year. sharing is totally fine unless you're making game for fun for like a few months per game.

VRML was a great idea... but the lack of 3D hardware hurt it. Plus it was from the era of XML, and during the era of XML every single format was bloated and stupid.

Yeah I think it makes more sense to just use UE4 , I think they probably went with Lua because that is what they like, being veteran coders and all. Overall using Lua is kind of outdated as nowadays it makes more sense to use Python instead.

Epic really need to get their finger out and create a version of UE for kids/casual developers instead of leaving it to 3rd parties who are caching in on the super casual game developer scene IMHO.

The thing is they aren't really after the casual developer. It's much easier to invest/donate to an already existing product(especially one built on top of their engine) than pouring resources into making one themselves.

REally?? 15 MILLION into a game that "can make games"??(modding) wtf they dont know where to spend their money from fortnite You want to invest(xaxa) to something like this? ok Fund them by 100 thousands. what are they going to do with 15million at once??

It's basically glorified Roblox. Tried to make some games on it, was so disappointed that it's nothing but fortnite.
