This is my first real build. It is a ‪@JayBates‬ inspired miter station where I incorporated my experience with laminate to add a decorative element. I made plenty of mistakes but had fun and was totally pleased with the outcome. I even purchased some new tools to help me with the build. I've listed some of them below. These are affiliate links that help support the channel. Thanks for watching!

Nice job! Cut your festool bags at the bottom and use a small piece of wood to roll it up, clamp it with small clamps, and just empty the bag that way. It barely leaves any dust in the actual container and you save THOUSANDS in buyer their bags. (I bet someone that’s handy with a needle and thread could sew a zipper on it)!

Thanks @shawnhillis5829 ! Thanks for the tip! I did already buy a 5-pack of bags 😭

@@SmallProjectCentral well I don’t even own one but just watched another YT video on how to save $ with supplies and came across that tip. 😂 I plan to do it with the rigid shop vac after I run out of the multi pack I just bought too 🥲

Long steady pull strokes with file. Let the teeth do the work without sliding up. Keep the angle and position. Draw filing at an angle closer to perpendicular. Fantastic cabinets. Love the dimensions and how they fit in your shop. Love the color line. Small drawers so great for handling all the small tools.

Hey man, the fix for your measuring mistake is genius! I was thinking to put the spacer on the cabinet. Putting it on the drawer is perfect.

Well done! Saw you later got the track square from TSO. Makes using the tracks so much easier and more accurate. Like someone commented below…you have partaken of the green festool kool aid….oh my,,,you’re in for it now. Ask me how I know, lol.

Absolutely fantastic video! For your first tutorial on building with wood, this was incredibly well done. The quality of the video is top-notch, and your presentation is clear and engaging. The step-by-step instructions made it so easy to follow along. The miter station you built looks professional and sturdy - a true testament to your craftsmanship. Can't wait to see more woodworking projects from you! Keep up the excellent work!

Pretty slick build. My garage wall on that side has needed a station for many years. Definitely grabbing the track saw before embarking, as I too am very tired of wrestling full sheets through the table saw; for the birds.

@SmallProjectCentral
@SmallProjectCentral 16 дней назад
Thanks @Bulldozzerdoser! Unfortunately this is a discontinued laminate. Formica had this about 8 years ago. You may want to check with your local Formica distributor. They may have left over inventory. I just googled it and saw this. Not sure if they still have. goodvaluecenter.com/index.php?option=com_eshop&view=category&id=640&Itemid=334

Really good video even when you make errors you show what happened. God knows I have made the same errors on drawers except my drawers were too wide. BTW I use Cutlist + and if you right click on the part in Parts tab you can rotate the part(s). Pretty cool program. I enjoyed your video very much.

Be careful with that Festool stuff. It will get you! LOL. I started with a track saw and a domino and now I've gone completely crazy for everything they make. I will say, the MFT makes batching cuts out extremely easy. I liked it so much that I ended up with three joined lengthwise and I run the Benchdogs UK fence system. It makes cabinet making extremely easy. Great video!

Thank you! I laid the drawer front on top of the decorative side of the laminate, adjusted it to be parallel with the pattern, traced it, and then transferred those lines to the back of the laminate. It was super time-consuming but it turned out well in the end. Thanks for watching!

@@SmallProjectCentral there's a small blue looking asterisk. That means no grain direction. Tap it and it'll go to arrows going up/down, tap again and it has arrows left/right, tap again back to no asterisk.
@MMMS75
@MMMS75 Месяц назад
Very cool! But you’re not worried only having a few feet on the right side for off cuts? Not worried you will need one of the mitre angle positive stops that is on the wrong side and you won’t be able to fit the board in?
@SmallProjectCentral
@SmallProjectCentral Месяц назад
Totally agree @MMMS75 I have such a small space I’m working in. The cabinets to the left of the miter saw are only 72” overall. I think I optimized for storage over function. Hopefully the majority of my projects are small… :-)

Use Roo glue when you need to add glue to pre finished ply. It’s for non porous surfaces like melamine and works great on the pre finished ply

Could you have laminated the sheet of material first and then cut the drawer fronts from the full piece to keep from having to do so much layout?
@SmallProjectCentral

I thought about that but was afraid I’d get chip out on the laminate. I’m going to try to avoid any geometric patterns in the future lol
