Made this tonight and LoVeD it! I’d prepared everything prior to heating the wok so there I was - oil smoking, chicken in and ended up adding the onion to the last minute or so of the chicken. End result was so good I will make again😋😋

Made this the other day, I was not a fan, the fish sauce really put me off, but the husband and kids loved it, so it never went to waste. I may try it again and use either less fish sauce or none at all.

Many indonesian don't put fish sauce into their nasi goreng at home, the only essential sauce to make nasi goreng is actually kecap manis (sweet indonesian soy sauce), the use of fish sauce is definitely to add more of the umami flavor, but you can switch it up with a little bit of oyster sauce or even using terasi (indonesian fermented shrimp paste) but in my opinion you definitely won't like it since it has pungent smell and strong flavor. So you can just stick to kecap manis because that's how millions of local Indonesian makes their nasi goreng at home. The ones with fish sauce are usually restaurant style nasi goreng.

I dont like fish smell either. so I switch Fish Sauce with Chicken broth powder and it works.

Maybe try 1tsp instead of 1tbsp. 1 tbsp can be a lot. Fish sauce used correctly can provide the right amount of unammi.

Delicious! Nasi goreng can never go wrong especially on a busy week day night. I usually just throw whatever protein I have and pour the black soy sauce or without, to turn it into malay style fried rice. 😋

Let me know how it goes. It's legit my favourite fried rice version. The whole family agrees (even the 3 year old if I tone down the spice...)

@ScottBaptie
@ScottBaptie Год назад
Hi Andy. Yield is just the portions. As in the recipe yields 4 servings etc. The scale 1x 2x 3x if you click them, you will see the recipe quantities increase so it does the doubling etc for you. Hope this helps.
