For the famous cities, Carthage, Rome, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, and Athens. They should make it to where you have to take the entire city, even the acropolis. That'd be epic!
They really should have made Jerusalem the region capital and done work on it like they did for Carthage and Alexandria. Imagine the Jewish Temple Mount under siege form Roman legions. I was pretty disappointed to see they didn't do that.
***** true, but with the historical significance for Jerusalem being enormous by itself they should have added the temple of solomon in all its glory. and made historical events about jesus and the judean revolts
You guys NEED to do an anniversary rematch on this map, only this time with Rome and Carthage fielding the most elite units in their rosters and playing with some of the most popular Total War RU-vidrs: you, HeirofCarthage, PrinceofMacedon, LionHeartx10, LegendofTotalWar, and WarriorofSparta. And do it like a Sub-commanders video, with one player controlling the navy, one controlling artillery, one controlling infantry, etc. That would be the definition of EPIC!
... or what it could have been. Seriously, this sort of stuff is awesome but rarely if ever actually occurs in the main meat of the game, which is single player. For obvious reasons.
EternallyInebriated Please tell me that was a joke about the ai.... if the ai can beat most players I'd be seriously worried. I mean even on legendary it's easy. I've had to search for mods that change the ai behaviour so there is atleast a slight challenge
seanazaz I was indeed joking. I've been playing since the original rome total war, so I know what you mean when you're looking for a mod that adds challenge to the campaign.
Tyler Watson If by crippled the Roman Empire you mean defeated the small Roman Republic in a few battles in Italy then proceeded to be defeated by the Romans and lost the war, then yeah, they crippled the Roman Empire.
Perky Bellsprout No, the battle that Hannibal won in Italy were hardly minor. The battle of Cannae actually led the citizens of Rome to prepare to surrender if Hannibal immediately marched on the city afterwards (he did not, widely considered to be the greatest strategic mistake of his entire campaign). The Battle of Lake Trebia was equally devastating to the Roman Empire. Rome eventually overcame Hannibal via a war of attrition because they were for a long time unable to defeat him in open field battles (until they had greatly eroded his initial force). I studied all this in college, as part of a History of Battle course I took as part of my degree at Cornell University (an Ivy League school), by the way. I am extremely well informed on this matter.
Rome breathed not a word of peace throughout the entire war. Even though Rome lost a lot of men in the war, Hannibal would have needed 5-6 Cannae's to deplete the available manpower of the Roman Republic. If Hannibal had marched on Rome after Cannae he would have been crushed.
Definitely not a words guys, but I respect and appreciate the hell out of your efforts in making this video. Thank you for this and all your other badass TW vids, my friend.
This is an amazing video dude. I really like the idea of splitting the battles (land and sea) its less of a rush for you to explain what is happening and we can enjoy more fights.
Misusing the elephants was just about their only mistake! They won at sea, had excellent layered defense, with top-tier missile units on commanding (and well-guarded) heights...I'm surprised Rome won at all.
This was honestly the one I've been waiting for, I love Carthage xD And Latin Rome too, I remember watching a documentary about one of the Roman sieges on Carthage, and they let prisoners out of jail to fight and used hair as bow string. And they had multiple layers of walls, not just one outside wall. Also, they were supposedly the first to come up with "apartments" where they stacked houses on houses.
So... I'm not usually a fan of Rome II vids because IMO the game is a bit of a let down. But you manage to make Rome II as it was meant to be, plus you're immensely entertaining to listen to, so many many kudos! :)
Mohamed Sawan the gallic barbs had experience with field battles, few-none of them had little to no experience besieging cities as large and defensible as rome
This video goes beyond any "let's play" that has ever been done in a Total War game. The fact that you chose to just play the replay(with post commentary), got rid of flags and the ui, is the single best thing you did. The decision to use the debug camera was in itself "epic!" A video like this is what I have been searching for on you tube for a long time. A video that feels more like watching History channel than it does like watching a computer game. I applaud you on this effort. I am now a subscriber and I will forever continue to watch the progress of this channel. My only hope is that you do not return to the status quo of Total War video's. As an avid Total War player myself, I do hope you decide to continue making ALL your battle video's in this fashion. Cheers, and thank you for making " The Greatest Total War Video Ever Made!"
Thanks for posting these videos, The quality of both camera work and voice over has improved with every video. I really enjoy these battles and this one was top drawer. Keep up the good work.

Woahh... Watching this makes me imagine the last stand of Mighty Carthage and how she was burnt to her very foundations... :/ Screw it.. Gonna play as Carthage now with Patch 15

When I was about 8-9 I'd read about Punic wars Plutarch about Hannibal and imagine now you can actually play and be kinda present right in the middle of battle so cool
So this was the end of the 3. punic wars... and it was also the end of carthage. The romans wiped out an entire population- and not for the first time! Anyways, great vid. Keep it up :-)
The more I watch your massive battles series, the more I wish competitive Total War was a thing, and the more I wish that you would be the main commentator.
Hey Invicta, new subscriber here and history lover to boot. I LOVE what you're doing here. It brings ancient battles to life in a way I thought impossible without actually building a time machine and being there. You said you were open to suggestions. I'm sure I've got a countless list of battles I'd love to see brought to life. One I'd love to see is Boudica's final battle with Roman troops in Britain. I'd also love to see some battles of the Third Servile War if possible (I know Spartacus didn't have regular troops so it might be hard to create specific units of his slave army). Also what about some battles between the ancient Hebrews and the Philistines and some of Alexander the Great's final battles in his ill-fated India campaign? I'd also like to see the Battle of Actium if you haven't already done it. Don't forget ancient and medieval China and Mongolia!
I really wish the ai would fight this way rather than pouring everything to one spot. I've never had a battle past the gates because they always just go there to fight
What that map needs is to have you go to...the next level. There's another terrace of hill, with a wall, and then that massive building at the top. I'd love the idea of multi-turn siege battles.
Fun drinking game idea: Whenever he says the word "effective" or any form of that word, you take a shot. I bet you won't make it through half the video.
Very cool and epic video ! I really like how you are commentating , I started to watch rome 2 videos because of you ^^ keep it up btw it is also a good way to learn english as an not narrative speaker
not really an introduction to the series , I started playing with rome 1 but end with medieval 2 and after that i did not really play anymore Now I can play at least Medieval online which is very good tooI want to play rome 2 but my pc is not good enough :/
wow something in your comentary has gone up , before you were talking like you didn't enjoy what you were doing and now you are talking completely calm and confident in yourself :D good job.
In reality it took thousands of ballista shots to dent ancient walls they were well constructed, it was giant rocks being thrown at massive stones. If you’ve ever seen a rock thrown against stone you will see what I mean.
This was awesome battle most epic i favourtied and subscribed also could i make a request ethier a eastern barbarion defence agsint rome or a briton defence against rome would be much appreciated
