The Cimbri bowmen were a bit hot, apparently; they really needed that cold bath on that frozen lake, lol. Siege battles are so cool, they give a bit more of context also; what the armies are fighting for, what they're dying for.
Love the sieges man, I feel like you can see more of whats going on when it's a siege battle. Don't get me wrong, I love your field battles just as much, but I can't see as much as I can in sieges.
Speaking as the Lusitani player, indeed there was basically no communication between me and my ally. I am also not great, so that counts slightly, but altogether, it was a really fun battle! A shame your internet crapped out before we could play that second battle though.
It's very common to see players that pick tanky factions to play too defensively, placing all bets on a static formation, forgoing on any integration with their ally. You see it in both sieges and field battles.
Oh Oakley, thanks for another glorious battle. I've noticed that as Total War games have gone on, they have become more, and I hate the words, CINEMATIC!
Oathsworn with the AI are weird. They popped headhunt on a mob, and, the second that fight was over, I charged in with fresh Principes. However, even though they did not get a charge, the oathsworn held out for so long. Like 3 minutes! I barely managed to beat that fight after I killed their general and once I got from 120 men to 40 men. Then they had to beast out a dismounted heavy horse. That was annoying.
Hey Oakley mate, I'm sure you've probably addressed this before somewhere on your channel but is there a Steam group or something that you have as a way of setting these up? I'd love to participate in one of these Massive Battles.
The guy seems cool and very good at the game but I prefer how you said a long time ago. Being more about the strategy and tactics like surrounding instead of knowing one unit's exact stats and calculating if they will lose to this one because that's not even realistic or fun.
+funguide1 Sorry dude :( Yeah there's always going to be some overlap when we co commentate. We both put effort into making the video, so naturally we're both going to want to upload it. Often that means people might be slightly disappointed they've already seen it.
Will you ever play a Sparta vs Persia battle on a Thermopylae style map? If so, the Heroes of Sparta would be better, since you can get more for cheaper & are almost equal or even surpass the Royal Spartans in certain stats.
Hi Oakley, another interesting town assualt vid. I would love a chance to join you in a similar game where I could defend with a similar army choice or perhaps even Sparta again. I have to highlight though, I dont play MP very much but love making videos from the game footage so please think of me next time you need some players to contribute
@@saguntum-iberian-greekkons7014 dam this was 6 years ago. But the reference i was trying to make at the time was to the fact that spartacus in the series dies by getting hit by multiple javelins.
Try empire with that 1 faction that starts with an elephant general unit with guns, they seem to have some great cav and melee units but somewhat laking in range units
Yellow is player, and blue is Allied Forces. Red is Enemy Forces. But I have seen them change from time to time. If your confused look on the Mini Map of help.
Hey mate, what graphics card do you have? and have graphics options are you running? I've given up trying to play Attila, my gtx 770 OC with 4 gb just dies playing that game, 10 fps in not that big battles on Large unit size...only seems to run more or less well on unit details at max performance cause that' the only option where you don't get ALL of the damn dead bodies showing up. Don't know what to do anymore, thinking of going back to Rome 2.
That's what I think is weird, I seemed to be doing much worse than you with a better setup than yours, I uninstalled the cinematic camera mod and turned off the Blood option and it is working MUCH better now, even with MLAA and SSAO turned on. Do you have any Ambient Oclusion on? or Anti Aliasing? sorry to bother you with these questions, and thanks.
indy put this video up weeks ago oakley what have you been doing with this video all that time.... nevermind i dont want to know what you have been doing to this video
Am I the only one that find this game too easy to win even on legendary? I'm a very shitty player in battles, but I just outmaneuver the AI on the campaign map with diplomacy, superior economy and empire management. I've done this with Lusitani, Parthia, Spartans and Royal Scythians. I almost never need to play battles, I play them time to time for fun, even though I REALLY suck at them...
