Damn the Czech/Bohemian cavalry did very well.Though keeping a large reserve of the imperial forces was a wise decision. Also, THEN THE BOHEMIAN KNIGHTS ARRIVED!

Props to the defenders! Boh using the knights extremely effectively. HoR using in-depth defense that preserve his forces and inflict huge losses to the Ottoman.

just a little explanation for why so many of the Ottoman units had Kapikulu in them: Kapikulu was basically what the most Elite soldiers in the Ottoman Empire were called, there was the Kapikulu Sipahis and of course the Janisarries. The Kapikulu were the Household troops of the Ottoman Empire and fun fact: All the Kapikulu with the exception of the Sipahis were personally owned by the Ottoman Sultan.

This is the most epic siege battle I have seen so far. So many highlights. The sally out, the glorious but dumb charge of the Imperial Knights, the fight in the streets.

I think the soldiers at 11:00 were just pretending to fight so they don’t have to be sent to the front lines and the HRE captain finally realized what his soldier was doing and yelled at him to stop messing around.

Just a note: Square Formation - in context of firearms - exists laterally as an anti-Calvary technique. Horses don't want to charge into a wall of explosions and if the charging Calvary diverts the enemy can cross-fire the Calvary between the squares. ("But what if they hit one-another?" Well the riders are taller than infantry so they are firing upwards). This -very thing- cost Napoleon's Calvary Officer his whole division at Waterloo. When I saw you getting hyped over charging I was just sitting back and going "NO NOO NOOOOOOO" It's really cool because the use of the Square Formation went from a defense against Archers to defense against Calvary the moment firearms came into play.

Finally some more 1212 AD, it's been too long, I love Rome 2 but we have seen so much, and yeet, no more fishy siege tower tactics

Weird to have the HRE playing for Austria and not the available duchy of Austria which is playable. I guess maybe Austria isn't as fleshed out or something.

What a great replay! Excellent tactics from the defenders. Bohemia and the HRE really showed skill.

What's everyone's favorite medieval period? -Early -High -Late

That battle was absolutely stunning. A lot of moments where I had wished the camera would've been in to see the full scope, but it was a great video. Absolutely love seeing defenders do amazingly well and hold the wall as long as possible. The charging of the cav outside the walls was also great to see, although it was a shame that the HRE cav at the beginning got wiped out by gunners. Still, we got to see a very nice play with the square formations.

They were downright surgical with those catapults. Most impressive

Dude, that Bohemian player was pretty much the backbone of this defense. Excellent job to Cassius V. That was some of the best defensive play I've seen in a while.

Why are the attackers never focussing enough firepower from their trebuchets, catapults and guns on the curtain wall BEFORE attacking/storming the walls??? Also, Cavalry should be used to shield the attackers - that are storming the walls through the towers - from any other counter cavalry assault?

Why do the HRE soldiers carry shields only with the crests of the prince of Aachen and the arch-bishop of Maine? There were around 40 princes at that time, there is certainly no lack of variety.

Hey Apollo don't know if you know but, the Yenicari unit was mostly made of Bulgarians who were taken by the Ottomen when they were babies.The Ottomen looked after them as if they were their children and made them go to mosques and become muslims and even sometimes kill their own parents.

Hey can you test out a blitzkrieg strategy? A few rounds of heavy arty followed by a concentrated cav charge followed up by spearmen and halberds to hold the flanks of the columns while heavy infantry and swordsmen push foward and flank around?

Cavalry sallying out, great wall defense and excellent artillery/ranged units use by the defenders decided the battle. When it got to the final area, there was no way the Ottomans could win.
