I agree to all, in fact I like to say he is a good drummer, but also a composer, and an artist.

100% agree that’s exactly how he is. His drumming skill alone is a marvel but even more important then that is what you bring to the song and he adds so much but he never over plays. See that’s the key to being a great drummer it’s knowing instinctively what to add and he could bring any song to a whole other level. The Classical Conspiracy live album shows some of his greatest drumming ever. Actually John Bonham from Zeppelin was the best at making a song even better by his playing. The unique and fantastic drumming and what he could add to a song was just incredible. Stupidly he’s known for being a pounder instead of his intricacy and as I said what he could bring to a song.

Two years ago, french sports magazine L'Équipe published an article called :"my job is sports". Removal man and drummer where the two most physical jobs. They said concerts' length was mostly limited by the physical capacity of the drummer.

Mark Jansen said all the songs on that album were designed for live shows, so... Maybe Consign to Oblivion will be replaced by another song as the finale in live shows...? (I mean, OMEGA is going to deal with The Omega Point - An end). I love Consign to Oblivion, but I think it's time for a new finale.

@@blivion7203 i think their approach to composing has been this for quite a while, thinking about live shows, since TQE and THP... and i agree with you! i love consign to oblivion but it’s been too much already lol a new song to end the concerts would be really cool.

​@@LadyLazarus1027 I'm fine with that direction, as long as the songs are not too catchy. I don't really like catchy songs (from what I've heard the choruses are very catchy, but I personally prefer either impactful choruses or no choruses at all). I just hope EPICA doesn't intend to abandon their complexity...

@@blivion7203 same here! i like their complex and intelligent songs more than the catchy ones like edge of the blade. but honestly i think they’ve reached a nice maturity to their sound and they keep making songs that maintain that complexity and still sound great live.. only thing im keeping an eye on is the sometimes cheesy lyrics 👀

@@LadyLazarus1027 I think RftI did this best, though. Mark Jansen referred to it that way, and they've done an amazing job when it comes to its complexity. Just why are the lyrics cheesy...? (Beyond the Matrix & Edge of the Blade did have cheesy lyrics, but they were written by Simone, and not the almighty Mark Jansen...!).
