Thanks. I volunteered to be in the clinical trails for MR at Stanford and Mayo but that focal study only allowed one zone that was deep rather than multiple epilepsy zones. Darn it. Yet I rejoice in where your field is going. ✌🏻
How much time taken partially to recover after resection of right frontal lobe and middle anterior region sir totally how much time csn be taken to recur fully any suggestion for epilepsy
Hi Dr. Omar. I’ve been watching your videos all morning to see why I still have seizures. I had brain surgery when I was 10 for a benign tumor in my frontal lobe. I was fine with no seizures until I was 14. I had a seizure and my doctors realized they missed some of it. After that surgery I continued to have seizures. Most of them happening at night. They were grand mal seizures every time. One of my doctors said it was all in my head and I was just tricking myself into having them. Now my parents and new doctor won’t believe me when I say I have these seizures at night sometimes. And now during the day I will have a jerking movement out of nowhere and won’t be able to talk for a split second. I also get an aura feeling sometimes but i control my breathing and it stops. I don’t know what to do about this because my new doctor also says they’re not real seizures.
hi doctor omar,, my son have FCD and had his surgery two weeks ago and still in his medication suddenly he have a seizure last night why what happen? im crying as a mum rigt now
Hi I am from Ireland was diagnosed with epilepsy at 20 am on anti Convulsant medication since and in 2011 had right frontal lobectomy epileptic surgery in Beaumont Hospital Dublin luckily my medication has been halved down to control my epilepsy health is wealth with the aid of my dearest parents in heaven rest in peace watching over me👍👍🙏🙏🙏and our dear lord and lady Mary in Heaven ❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏love your comments absolutely appreciated it is much appreciated best wishes Declan 🖐️🖐️👍👍🙏🙏
I had a left temporal lobectomy in 2004 when I was 19. I will say that it helped my grand mal seizures extremely. I still have partial seizures as scheduled because I have catamenial epilepsy, but it’s manageable. The downside is that my concentration and attention span is very short like I developed ADHD 😂 My memory is pretty good but my verbal processing skills can be bad some days. I have turned into a visual learner. When I was a teenager I could read something and I got it right away. Now I understand better when I hear and see instead of just reading simply. My Dr offered the VNS surgery about 3 years ago but I am already almost 38. I think the younger people should try a surgery if they are able. 😊
Thanks for sharing. So I guess the left lobectomy didn’t stop it? Or the scars from that surgery 20 years ago are now the problem? So LITT not the option? Or the new wave of MR or UltraSound studies may become an option?
I agree with you. I am 41 years old and now they want to know exactly where the seizures are coming from and I am scared to death because of all of the things they are wrong with me and I expect it along time with it. I also was just told that a have frontal lobe, epilepsy and I did the the longer EEG. I the hospital because they told me that I didn’t have epilepsy.
@@daniellesherk8969 Do they also try giving you the new medication? My doctor loves to Rx me the new FDA approved drugs w/crazy side effects like Onfi, Briviact, Vimpat, Fycompa, and now Xcopri. The only newer drug that has worked for me w/no weird side effects was the Epidiolex. I think my doctor is getting compensation and that’s why she doesn’t care much. I think the younger ppl are treated differently bc they’re brains are still immature and the parents have say in what to do, u know? An adult can make the decision, unless their epilepsy is serious. The healthcare system has become more about money than the patient care sadly.
Salam doctor Omar Your video is very informative. As a man with epilepsy, I've had my eeg & mri. My doctor said that I need a surgery because my seizures came 2-3 times a day. Keppra did not work. I take clobazam 10mg 2x2 and carbamazephine 1x2 everyday. The seizure frequency drops to 3-4 times per month. However, I get difficulty in finding words when talking and my short-term memory drops down worse than before currently. May I know what is your opinion about my condition doctor? And your suggestion to take a surgery. Thanks for your reply
Hi Dr. Omar. I just did a Cranial Fiduciary Placement today at the West Los Angeles VA Hospital with Dr. Langevin from Torrance, CA and we can see what is next. I have all of my chats on what they did when I went to do a MEG exam and something else when I went to the University of California San Francisco in August of 2023. I go back to the West L.A in 2 weeks for the actual surgery and from there we will see what decision it will be to have. I’m currently on 5 medications. If you could assist me also with any additional advice that would be great. Thanks Dr. Omar.

Good morning Dr. Danoun. Thanks for your different videos on epilepsy. Dear Dr. My 16 year child is suffering from epilepsy. MRI says Right Mesial Temporal sclerosis. Dr. says it is generalized seizer. Kindly guide which surgery is possible? Where surgery should I performed in India?
Hi doctor, I am considering surgery because I believe I am drug resistant, been an epileptic for 7 years now. I have 5-10 auras a week, do you believe the surgery and medicine after the surgery take away my auras? Thank you for all the information on your channel ❤
Hi doctor... I am Mayya from India and am regular viewer of your RU-vid channel. I am suffering from epilepsy from past 25 years and I had a surgery last month. Doctor's said surgery was went very well. After epilepsy surgery my usual seizures and sudden falling get stopped, but now I am getting seizures regularly during sleep, which was not there before. My doctor said that it would take few months to recover after brain surgery. Please let me know what is your opinion about this?
Hard to tell without evaluating the patient, However, successful brain surgery should stop seizures right away. I like this video, my son is 3yrs old. His has a seizure Diagonosis. His doctors has brought the next steps for him. 1, vagus Nerve stimulation 2. Corpus callosotomy Could you please discuss a detailed video of the Corpus callosotomy surgery ?? That would be awesome. Thank you in advance
What if you have seizures, but they are abnormal and neurologist can’t figure out why you have them? I am now 30 and been having seizures since I was 4, but they don’t know if it’s epilepsy. I got an MRI, EEG and EMU, so at least they can see the side of the brain they are coming from. That being said, medication helps with the grand mal, but I still have breakthrough partial seizures and they can’t figure out why.
i have been finding it difficult to find words lately and being able to finish a full sentence when my fiance and i have an argument. what can i do about that??
Doctor.my 14 Years old daughter has focal cortical displasia .there is a leision in right peritral lobe.seizures not controlling .is there any risk to doing a brain surgery.we are so helpless.pls help
Hello doctor my son who is 18 years old has got encephalitis on January 1, 2023. He has been bedridden for almost 4 weeks. While he was asleep he had a lot of convulsions and was given 4 different medications for it. After he woke up and the swelling went away, the doctors had reduced his anti-epileptic medication. Now 2 weeks ago he had a lot of seizures and he is back on 3 different medications for the seizures. The doctor told us that his seizures start in the superior temporal lobe. Now he is still in the hospital to balance the medications as he has a lot of sensations and 1-2 seizures per day. He has done all the tests and they are sure his seizures start there. Do you think surgery is a good solution? Sincerely
When I was born, I had 11 surgeries in my stomach in the small intestine, and I got cerebral palsy, i’m on chroma, ptosis, haemochromatosis, hepatitis C antibodies, and at the age of 14 I developed epilepsy, and I still process osteoporosis will I should I still have the probes in my brain but I still have seizures and ani seizures medication does work
I've had seizures since I was 3 years old and I'm 20 now and still have them. My Neorology Doctor said maybe for a Surgery and I'm super scared because it's gonna be my first one🙁🙁
I was one such drug resistant patient. Surgery was the ONLY thing that cured me. Sadly too many neuros just want to keep their patients thus their income.
hi Doctor, My 1 year old son's diagnosed recently with epilepsy, he had short seizures like west syndrome between 30-120 times (usually after waking up, noon time and evening) during day, but stopped after taking some medicine. Diagnosis: Congenital malformation of the brain. Focal cortical dysplasia (right side of brain, size 31x21x25 mm). Epileptic encephalopathy. Infantile spasms. Is it safe to have surgery asap, or better to wait till he becomes at least 2 yo. His vocabulary is very less than before, but physically active still.
I can't provide medical advice online. However, in little children, it is essential to cure the seizures with surgery ASAP to save the development. Please review the video on infantile spasms
Because it is generalized over the brain, resective surgery meaning cutting an area out nut Neuromodulation works as we explained in the drug resistant epilepsy video
When I go to sleep in the afternoon or at night as soon as I hit the pillow my head starts to shake or jerk, it moves from left to right, and right to left continuesly, I have had a stroke 7 years ago, and immediately after that I had 2 seizures, I am on anti seizures medication since then, so why is my head shaking at night????
So as a epileptic stroke survivor', basically even with surgery there's a good chance of still having seizures, then why not find a high bridge, take all epilepsy meds at same time. Overdose then take a swan dive is an instant cure. Inmho. I'm taking , 1000 mg keppra, 300 mg lamotrogine, 10 mg clobazam and still having extremely strong aura's, seizures. Waking up to auras etc. Am so tired of this epileptic life, world
