Showing off the beginning of my sand rail journey. Starts with the frame from East Coast Sand Rails and continues to the engine and transmission I plan on using.
cool Video man! You're gonna have fun with this build. Balljoint beams are OK - Max travel is only about 7", but they're pretty bullet proof when setup correctly (gusseted and bumpstops installed).
Hey, looking forward to watching the process. I've just about done building my storage shed to clear out my garage to start building a rail. I've never built a rail before, so looking forward to lot of videos. I'll probably be asking some questions during your build.
It was because I had a bunch of parts (including a rebuild kit) for a ball joint front end. Had that not been the case I would have done a king pin because of better performance at full extension, etc.
The price depends a bit on the options - 2 vs 4 seat, what size, etc. I'll refer you to the folks over at eastcoastsandrails.com/ to hook you up with the details.
Thanks! They only build the frame, but there are some folks out that there will build them as far as you would like such as www.bigdssandrailsandbuggies.com/
I'm about to get rolling again on the project. I'm moved into the new house and have completed some of the first projects in the house. I've also gotten past some starting friction - I wanted to have a theme / color scheme in place before going to far. I've got an idea that I think is unique and will be fun to do. To that end, I have some product arriving today to do a test of the look on some scrap steel. I'll take a video of that test as well as a tour of the new shop.
After a lot of research I have come to the conclusion that ECSR Frames are the best! Did you pick a ball joint front beam because you prefer them? If so why? Same question for the rear beam. Did you just tell ECSR and they supplied the IRS type beam? Thanks
Not yet - we're in the process of moving to a bigger garage! My life has been consumed with getting our current house ready to sell (and finding a way to move the buggy!). I'll post an update soon about how I was able to move the buggy and what the new space looks like.
