I've just been given an old DSLR (Sony Alpha 200) and noted it takes CF memory cards ... a card type I had never heard of before. My phone takes an SD card. I did a quick search on RU-vid and this video popped up, which I found to be a well presented video. I'll now look at your other videos. I used to have a Pentax SLR, but that was many many years ago. I see you are from Kenya. I actually thought you were actually from SA (as is my wife) since the name Thandiwe is quite a common there. Regards from the UK
Thank You, I basically use 64 GB SD cards. I mostly shoot weddings and live event. The risk of losing data is there, to void that I always use a slave camera the one capture the even from the beginning to the end. I missed a very important part of a wedding once. didn't film when the couple was cutting the cake went outside was just lucky I got the sound from the other camera and few images used pictures and some inserts to display that very moment.
As a photojournalist, I use 16GB cards. They have enough storage capacity to shoot a few events, but they aren't so big that I'm putting all my eggs in one basket. I shoot on SanDisk and Lexar cards. Fingers crossed, I've yet to have one fail me.
So, my girlfriend has a cannon 7D mark 2 (something like that, she's the photographer in the relationship) with a broken pin in the SD card port. It can't read SD cards anymore...I've been looking for solutions for her. Of course we're gonna get it fixed eventually but money is an issue at the moment. Should she switch to CF or get the port replaced/repaired?
Last year I travelled to France where I bought three Sun disk 64GB CF cards, they have been working well but now I tell you what, all of them can't keep data any more (got spoiled!!!)After making your shots, on copying data off the CF card you find when it's spoiled and all data has gone (turned into viruses)! I thought that am the only person facing such a problem but on asking other guys around my home town Kampala-Uganda, they're also experiencing the same problem with CF cards since this year began but with SD card for them are ok! On trying recovering the data unfortunately can't be retrieved!! Could u be having any advice?
I am your no. 1 fan...You inspire me...My question is on the concepts you use to do your fashion shoots...I am currently learning photography online but so far I haven't been able to get good pics as I cant discover the concept that would go well with my shoots. Please advice on this..Will appreciate :-)
Thank you for the kind works Muthoni! This is a great topic for an episode but briefly, the concept is decided even before you go out to shoot. So I first decide the story I want to communicate e.g. an all red shoot, and that in turn determines the stylist, model, clothing, lighting, background and makeup I'll use for the shoot. Photography is all about communication so you need to first determine WHAT you want to say then you can decide HOW you're going to say it. For inspiration I go to Pinterest to find visual references of what I wan to do.
Glad to be of help! I've actually done an entire episode going into a more detailed answer of your question so be sure to look out for it in a few weeks!
The next one is finally up! And it's all about flash. You can find it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MGInmiXNqOg.html Thanks for being a faithful subscriber!
