A little can go a long way - the new Project 20380 and 20385 corvettes. Those small ships can fight in both close and far sea zones. In terms of the amount of armament, they outperform many of their foreign competitors. In the new episode of Combat Approved, the viewers will see the exclusive footage of the first ever voyage of the Project 20385 Gremyaschiiy corvette. In addition, our journalists will visit the Severnaya Verf shipyard, where they make those ships and their next generation - Project 20386. It’s able to sail not only with the diesel power, but also with electricity. For the first time on TV, we’ll show you its newest one-of-a-kind radar, which protects from both enemy missiles and electronic countermeasures. Under its dome, you can hide several ships, submarines, or even a naval base. Moreover, the viewers will see the main weapon of the Project 20386 corvettes - the Uranus missile complex. All of that you’ll see in the episode of Combat Approved.

Wiki: " RT (formerly Russia Today) is a state-controlled international television network funded by the Russian federal tax budget. It operates pay television channels directed to audiences outside of Russia, as well as providing Internet content in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Russian." There you go. Russia trying to sound american :)

@@alexanderholm9278 BTW - the narrator voice is certainly NOT Russian. It's either English or American. BBC, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle, etc. NATO states devote by far larger funds to their state propaganda across the world. I've seen people turned into a herd by our media before aggression against Yugoslavia in 1999, Iraq in 2003, and the distorted depiction of events in Ukraine in 2013-2015. We now even have censorship by google, facebook, twitter, and not just over domestic issue and Trump, but against stories we don't like.

@anarchyandempires5452 3 года назад
You have heard wrong, this ain't a frontline fighter, it has neither the weapons to take out a carrier nor the counter measures to get close to one. As a matter of fact this series was initially designed to be the dedicated escorts for The Kuznetsov and the Kirovs, their purpose envelope was increased later on and their design was modified several times until their modern incarnation, they are fairly decent surface warships now but they are definitely not supposed to take on capital ships or true Frontline warships like Destroyers and modern frigates, modern Heavy frigates like those used by Russia and Italy, in particular The Gorshkov and the FREEM Would Rip small warships like this asunder as they were created specifically to deal with Missiles and small fast warships.

@BenVaserlan 3 года назад
@@blakkmoon Thank you for the compliment. :) I can say that Vlaidmir Putin is very much like a Keirsey ISTJ (a shortcut to understanding this is just to look up "Keirsey Guardian" to get an idea of Putin's temperament). So he's naturally conservative and self-disciplined. He is also like a counter-phobic 6 in enneagram hence all of the macho stuff. The main thing though is that Russia lived though very high inflation in the 90s. The upshot of these factors is that he is very much about fiscal discipline and balance budgets so he will cut military programs or delay them to that end. Russia has a very low debt to GDP ratio. USA by contrast has a bigger deficit than it's defence budget so in a sense the US's defence spending can be said be funded entirely by debt. The US has been able to get away with this for decades because of the reserve currency status of the US $. IMHO, The Lider cruiser won't happen but the Lider icebreaker will. I think the Super Gorshkov will happen due to economic factors. Oil is back at over $60 and all commmodities are rising. Commodity prices very important to Russia who exports a lot of commodities. So i see the Russian defence budget increase as the general budget increases. Peter Schiff predicts oil will hit $100 a barrel by the end of this year.

Everyone in the comments is talking about the narrator, not the ship. Great corvette design, though I was surprised to see the vls on either side of the helicopter landing area. I think I would put the fast reaction missiles, like the surface to air ones, in the bow launchers and keep the rear ones for land attack, ship attack etc. That gives time to hanger the helo, or have it in the air.

It seems that the 20385 corvettes were designed around the German MTU diesel for propulsion (I wonder why German and not Russia). However, because of sanctions arising from the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, deliveries of MTU diesel beyond the first two units were stopped, resulting in the cancellation of further units. And the revised 20386 seems to have two replacement Russian-made 16D49 diesel turbines. Look like pretty nice corvettes.

19:00 The model resembles the outline of the 'Derzky'-class (Project 20386). 'Modular' sounds useful on paper, but arguably undermines combined arms warfare as the actually needed modul at any time may be stored at a shore depot... The Americans have difficulties to maintain their modular designs (LCS 'Freedom'-class frigate), so that one can wonder if such an approach is rather a bureaucratic idealization and won't stand the 'friction' of actual naval conflict. It is crucial that anti-submarine warfare is integrated, indeed as these ships will replace the indispensable Soviet 'guardship' role of protecting shores from submarines (threatening strategic missile strikes, but also special operations). Will there be any modernized Russian aircraft carriers ? Yes, but probably consisiting of lighter variants without a nuclear propulsion, mostly guarding sea bastions with automated drone wings.

Many are complaining about the Optimus Prime voice. It's more tolerable at 1.25-1.3 x speed as I listen to most videos at that speed anyway.. to get through the videos faster.

So the question is how meaney Aircraft carriers, which is the cheapest to run in the long run if each aircraft carrier suppose to last at least twenty five or fifty years with upgrades and life time modifications. To me the Nuclear option looks likely to me for the shear factor that it might only need to be refuelled once or twice In its lifetime, were as a conventionally fueled ship would have to go in for services every couple of thousand kilometres for services and repairs and replacement of worn out parts, were as nuclear yes it would have to have maintenance but the intervals would be fare longer than conventional so that would mean that you would have a ship ready to go to a map point at sea and be on station ready for further orders and be able to loiter for days or weeks depending upon how long the crew can last or how much food they have ! , the nuclear option looks like the better option in the long run the problem is cost conventional aircraft carriers cheaper or nuclear more expensive but cheaper to run in the lifetime of the ship compared to a conventional ship.
