nice video. I can't decide between stalker hood and mercenary hood any help on that ? and how do you deal with carving swords using mercenary hood since you can hardly brawl against them without stalker hood ?
I do prefer stalker hood for more aggressive brawling and being able to execute. Against carving, food determines more than helmet in my experience. If they are on eel stew and you eat roast snapper, you can brawl very well. But you are very correct that merc hood should make you lean towards kiting more. Especially until you get Q stacks up. Carving can kind of keep up but with cripple it's still pretty kite-able fight.
It's roasted snapper. It can be tier3, tier5 or tier7 and its exact name will depend on its tier: "Roasted Puremist Snapper" (t7), "Roasted Clearhaze snapper" (t5) or "Roasted Whitefog Snapper" (t3).
Forest of spears is unfortunately very weak in pvp because a) there is no way to force your opponent to just stand there and take the damage and b) some of the other Ws are incredibly valuable. I think you'll find part of the answer in Part 3 where I discuss spells.
Few questions.(1 month new player) If im already deep into learning points with another build, is it still viable to simply swap to this build?(dual swords atm) Is there any benefit to leveling a fresh chatacter other than focusing different crafting materials? I saw a lot of vidsos of players using shields. Whatre the benefits? Ps. I appreciate the depth of these videos with the information and explanations you give. Top tier build vids
Replying a bit late but here we go: Keep learning points for gathering if you are going to gather at all, don't put too many of them into combat-related stuff. As for changing builds and weapons - absolutely do it! You are never committed to one playstyle or one build in Albion and in fact, the more different things you have experience with, the better you will be in PvP! So whatever feels fun at the moment is usually a good choice. There is no benefit whatsoever to a new character. Only for very dedicated economy stuff you can use focus on alt characters (which all need premium). For everything else - use one character! The shields question is way too general. Look at the specific stats and you'll have your answer. If someone wants more defensives instead of cooldown, they'll buy a shield and not mistcaller. But all offhands offer different stats. And thanks for good vibes!! Have fun out there :)
I like the idea in theory but there is one dealbreaker for me which is that too often there isn't really time to switch spells between PvE and PvP. I wouldn't want to miss out on good opportunities to fight because I wasn't ready with my spells. On top of that - spear doesn't really struggle with PvE so the Hunter Jacket 3rd isn't really necessary. If you want to speed up your PvE clearing without harming your PvP readiness then stalker jacket feels like a better option.
I have not tried Specter Hood in the mists, actually. The reason it doesn't feel attractive is that it has a huge cooldown and it is onedimensional. A 2nd inferno can be strong if you are fighting against an opponent who only wants to brawl. But in majority of fights your enemy will be able to play around it and now your helmet is on cooldown for a WHOLE MINUTE. Other helmet options are much more versatile and you can use them in different ways + you'll get to use them 2-4 times in the same time period.
Hey man! For the spear itself I use life leech and I suggest to use it 100%. For leather armor pieces, you'll find a bit more detailed answer in part 4 of the guide but essentially both cdr and balanced mind are fine just don't go stack too much cdr (eg mistacller+eel stew+cdr passive = overkill).
I pretty much only play spear, and my high IP setup is Cultist cowl, mistwalker jacket, I feel like its really strong in most matchups, since the mistwalker is really op vs the traditional bloodletter build, but can be very tricky vs long range kite such as frost
That's interesting to hear. I feel like cultist can be very hit-or-miss. Against some builds it's strong but against some others not useful at all. Kinda same story with Mistwalker but I suppose you can win a whole fight sometimes simply by using it at the perfect moment. Do you change to inferno often?
I'm guessing you meant Hellion jacket. As far as PvP goes, hellion jacket is good when you are planning to fight against groups, especially small scale fights for example in roads of Avalon. However, for solo or duo PvP in the mists it's not very good because the heal is not that strong and in most cases you'd much rather have inferno or some other options like assasin jacket invis, stalker jacket damage or mistwalker jacket for extra survivability!
You'll find a bit more detailed answer in part 4 of the guide. I generally like to balance between cdr and being tanky. Often this means that I will use roast snapper and cooldown reduction passives. If going with mistcaller and/or eel stew, then I suggest picking balanced mind passives instead because of diminishing returns on cooldown reduction!
If you want to use a shield for roleplaying reasons, facebreaker is fine! But torch gives 2 pretty valuable stats for the spear which are cooldown and attack speed!
It will very difficult to play it in Mists because of lack of mobility. Doesn't mean you shouldn't follow your dream to be a spartan warrior but it can be frustrating if you can only win against enemies who are being too aggressive and chasing you. It's a bit easier to make it work in corrupted dungeons although some of the same problems will apply.
I prefer to use roast snapper and cooldown reduction passives. However, I think it's about finding a balance between CDR and things that make you tankier so if you already have more CDR from food or for example mistcaller, then I would go with balanced mind passives instead!
@@VicZaneGaming i was using the damage passives from stalker hood and stalker jacket with roast snapper but I saw a lot of people taking few cdr passives so I got confused. Because in head the % it gives is not that much but the chest choice between the dmg or cdr has high numbers. But if I understand you properly is worth to take both on cdr, isn't it? I usually go 5.1 because I'm still getting economy. Thanks for replying, your videos really helped me to get into spear and improving a lot! And sorry for my English, I'm not native speaker
Hey! Yeah you're right, I did not talk about awakening the Spear because I don't usually use awakened weapons myself. One problem with awakening spear specifically is that you really want to have access to Impaler for certain fights but 4.4 or 5.4 spears will not have it and attuning 6.4 gets expensive very fast. For traits, however, I think CDR and Max Hp are going to be the absolute best (as with most weapons I guess). Next, I would choose Defense vs All. And finally: Ability damage, Item Power, Attack speed and Lifesteal all seem decent B tier traits to me.
Thank you!! I haven't tried mage cowl for a while because the utility of other headpieces seems much more valuable to me than just extra damage. If I understood patch correctly, the overall DPS of mage cowl got a +10% buff so might be a good time to test it out, you're right.
That sounds like a good plan if by 'early game' you mean low IP and by 'late game' you mean high IP. But you can also just run inferno shield on a good leather jacket in late game.
I'm trying a lifesteal build on daybreaker, with merc jack, hunter hood and roasted pork which is alot different from the objective of ur build, what r ur thoughts on that🙌
I very much love the idea to play daybreaker as a tanky, sustain-based build. In fact, I will be speccing up daybreaker soon on EU and will probably try something like that out also. Roast pork and merc jacket seem decent but I don't like hunter hood. I feel much stronger when I have a helmet that allows me to make plays and daybreaker already suffers from mobility problems against mist builds (unless you hit a perfect E to purge their mobility). I would definitely prefer fiend cowl or helmet of valor.
@@VicZaneGaming i thought about that too, but I'm trying to keep it cheap until i get the hang of it, btw if u r streaming on twitch can u add a link 🙌🙌 i would love to join ur stream
I've tried it but I don't like it. I feel like on the 1h spear it's much much easier to get good value out of inferno shield than merc jacket heal. And for inferno, I prefer one of the jackets with +30% damage (merc jacket gives +20%)
For plate boots, defense passive. For cloth cowl (if you are using one) I'd take the damage passive. However, for leather armor pieces I would choose based on the rest of your build to balance between both cooldown reduction and overall tankiness. I prefer to eat roasted snapper and take CDR passives but if you have plenty of CDR already from other sources, take the 'balanced mind'. You will get a bit more of this answer in part 4 of the guide.
Yo Vic, nice guide! Im just playing albion since 1 month and playing spear because of your cool guide. Im not playing lethals yet. Im farming mist/abbey in YZ for improve my spear gameplay and my fame. What tier do you recommand for solo pve YZ? Is tier 8 is overkill or need to go with?
Glad to hear you are enjoying the spear. Since there is no risk in yellow zones, you will come across a lot of higher IP players. Tier 8 is not overkill for safe PvE but I do suggest that you budget for some cheap 4.1 or 4.2 sets to start getting lethal mists experience in as soon as you feel comfortable with that. You will die a lot and that's part of the game but you will also get good experience and the fame+silver will be noticeably better in lethal mists.
@@VicZaneGaming Thanks man! Okok, I often see t6.3 or t7.2 but rarely t8. So, what tier do you advice for YZ? (the best ratio in your opinion) I have so many questions about spears! Can I? Haha. Like which spear is good for duo pve content with a my healer friend? Yeah I already have 4.2/4.3 sets with spirithunter for training multi pve and ZvZ. I will try lethal later, need to improve my spe
I've spent so little time in yellow zones that I don't want to make too many suggestions about that. Since you don't lose your items and you can always sell them back, it's not a very important financial decision (unless you go 8.3 or 8.4 and worry about repair costs. As for spears for duo content - spirithunter is only strong when you have other DPS with you that can take advantage of your E. In general spears are not ideal for duo with healer because there isn't as much constant damage as for example some curse staffs or swords. But I've seen some people still make 1h spear work, kind of. Just make sure that you are wearing cloth chest armor because with a healer you need to focus more on doing big damage and less on tankiness. Also btw heron spear is great for duos when you have a 2nd dps with you.
I use my whole build to balance between CDR and being tanky. My favourite is using roasted snapper and going for cdr passives. However, if I use eel stew or mistcaller then instead I would take balanced mind!
Hey :) I cover this idea a bit in Episode 4 but the short answer is that I choose either Balanced Mind or Quick Thinker to compensate for what the rest of my build doesn't have and balance between tankiness and cooldown reduction. For example if you choose CDR in other places (food, mistcaller), then don't take CDR passives. But if you are more of a tanky brawler, take cdr.
Thanks for your answer, i’m also a spear addict and i have to say that every thing u said is just perfection. But one more thing, do you use your stalker helmet when engaging ? Most of the time i keep it as my finisher but i’m pretty sure it will be up again to finish the fight if i use it very early (if no assassin jacket)
@@KingTogoday Yeah absolutely. If the enemy doesn't have invis that I might need stalker hood for, I try to use it just for trades during fight and not only for executing.
