Episode 216: Engaging with Transgender Ideology 

If I recall from a first listen, he didn’t want to use that term because what it does is it removes a human individual from the conversation. That is to say, it isn’t merely academic, or an abstract kind of conversation, but it is something that is a bit more concrete and deals with real individuals and it really affects people. So, in light of that concern, he didn’t want to depersonalize this. And he was concerned that emphasizing ideology de emphasizes the humans at the center of this conversation. Not familiar w/Rev. Calvin Robinson but i do know a few folks who're trans and they exist with absolutely zero pretense. Confusion? Perhaps; they're not monolithic and just like non-trans folks, things can change as time goes by. Gender, like Fashion, is a human construct and therefore fluid. The determination of "pretending" seems to be more in the eye of the beholder, just like beauty. Or lack of it.

​@@b8akaratn Assuming that these people really believe they are the opposite gender they most certainly are confused. From that confusion they attempt to masquerade as the opposite sex because they are deluded into believing that they are that sex. The definition of man and woman hasn't really changed. Most people define a man as an adult human male and a woman as an adult human female. Those who don't and adopt modern gender ideology cannot put forth definitions that aren't nonsensical.

There is pain and cruelty in the world so he became a woman. That is a statement desperately seeking logic.

I highly doubt your child switched genders out of anger at God. Trans people don’t have it easy in life. I’ve met several and none felt it was a choice. Same goes for homosexuals. Both are commonly bullied and have a much higher chance of being a target of violent crime. Also, they have a much higher risk of mental illness (depression, anxiety, etc) and suicide. I pray your daughter is able to love herself and has support from friends and relatives. I’m not judging you at all. I think it’s something that takes time to accept for loved ones. I’ve heard it’s like grieving the loss of who you viewed your child (or any relative) to be and learning to accept and love who they are. I used to feel differently. I now believe it is my Christian responsibility to love all others and to leave judgement up to God. If we have faith in Christ, I believe we are forgiven all sins. I don’t even think this is a sin, but know many do.

If we have no line of truth we stand at and will never cross, our hearts lie when they say they believe anything. Anything as broad as transgender ideology is not simply a singular this or that. Human beings are complicated and all our affairs have many attributes. Even if the matter of believing one is not in correspondence with their biological sex turns out to be simply affect and not willful, what it leads to down the line must still be evaluated morally as it is its moral matter, influenced yes by this, but that does not give free reign to do nothing about it If we simply say we believe in God and are not willing to do anything to actually help build the Kingdom of God and bring others to Christ, we only love ourselves and do not know God. If our faith has no action, it is dead and so we belong to death. If we do not carry our cross with Christ, we can never reach Calvary and so never rise with Him. Presumption of God`s Mercy along with despairing of it, are two aspects of the Unforgivable Sin, Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. So long as we do not repent of these, God can not forgive us, because we refuse to open the door, believing wrongly either there is no wall or He is not there knocking. If people spoke of pornography and masterbation as they do transgenderism, I would likely be a pathetic hopeless lonely slob convinced I could do no better and not be free. Do not do this to anyone on any matter of wrong moral or existential that ensnare the heart and beguile the mind. Do not crush them, but do not help the thing that already is either. Help them to freedom and the truth. To love another is to wish their good and it is not good to be enslaved to a passion, obsession, or disturbance of one`s mind and heart. If you love them, bring them to the Truth, even if it is painful, but do everything you can to make it as painless as possible, espescially if they are suffering. Ignore both options the world is putting before us, neither is right. Neither condemn them, nor leave them in their suffering and confusion. Be Christ`s hands and feet upon the earth, if indeed one is a member of His Mystical Body. Do not be a cancer that only takes and does not help build it up. There is no road to Heaven but through Calvary, Christ the Head of His Church is there, so there we Her members ought to be as well.

@@b8akaratn private Catholic school for my kid. And we don’t let her watch any Disney shows after like 2020 and before she sees any other kid movie we screen it first. Also we don’t associate with anyone who would posit that belief system around my child. So classic Disney shows good. New Disney shows are a no go

@@b8akaratn it’s worked so far. Control Your child’s environment. No social media, No cell phone until she’s much older etc. Form your children to have the right values. Takes some extra work sure but better than her coming home thinking she can become a boy because some idiot tells her that

@@halliehorn7523 A father must judge his children's actions. It's called discipline. What makes you think that our judgements will be condemned?

@@carolynkimberly4021 discipline means to teach…as in Christ taught his disciples. Punishment is punitive and not the same thing. Should he have disowned his daughter? Trans people are at elevated risk of suicide and more likely than others to fall victim to violent crime. I was always taught that Jesus taught forgiveness, love, patience, compassion and taught us not to judge others. Of course you are entitled to your opinion. It’s just a little closed minded to say he can’t be devout while still supporting and loving his child for who she is. I didn’t used to feel like this but after meeting trans people and seeing they are loving and accepting people, my opinion has changed. I was badly bullied so I guess I also relate to them. No one should fear being who they are.

We do not have 2000 years of teaching on Trans people. And the Catholic Church (I wish Catholics would read their own history) has changed doctrine often. Example? The Church once taught that the earth was flat and the center of the universe. They apologized to Galileo 400 years after his death for this wrong doctrine.

@@willchristie2650 There is no Catholic doctrine that the world is flat. There is 2,000 years of doctrine opposed to transgenderism. It's called the Natural Law.

@@willchristie2650Galileo’s math was proven wrong. While he was correct about the Sun being the center of the universe he was teaching theory as fact when it had not been proven yet. Yes as science changes our understanding the Church if need be should adjust their understanding of the science. And until that time the Church was siding with the accepted view of science. Perhaps you should re read the case on him This was a doctrine that developed with the science as the science developed. Science often gets things wrong like wearing masks during COVID for example will prevent you from catching COVID or this vaccine will prevent you from spreading it. Science is a field that is always changing and developing. It’s not a change of dogma for example which is different.
