If you listen to the Lucid earnings call you would have learnt that Lucid has $5.45 billion in liquidity to see them through into 2025 which will see the Gravity into production. If they need to raise more equity they will easily be able to do this with the backing of the Saudi PIF. They are also working on a smaller vehicle form factor which will compete with Model Y. Lucid has already shown that they can beat the Tesla Model S plaid on performance, range, efficiency, handling and luxury. The Gravity SUV which will do the same to the Model X & other competition by beating them in performance, range, efficiency, handling and luxury. Cory Steuben (former Munroe & Associates) will be working on the smaller Model Y competitor which will probably get launched in 2024 for production in 2025.

Ok you go and buy a Lucid vehicle then, if you are so certain.! Listen, I really hope they succeed but in reality, they are not going to be a mass-market producer any time soon. So why should I get excited for more high-priced BEVs, when we need the opposite to accelerate EV adoption and lessen consumer global LDV transportation GHG emissions faster than we are doing today!

In every video I've seen from this show the crowds seemed very light . . . except around the Lucid Gravity exhibit, which was constantly thronged with people. Kyle Conner of "Out of Spec Motoring" said he had to wait 3 hours to get close enough to start filming the vehicle. If the Gravity comes close in the SUV class to being the astounding balance of power, handling, room, comfort, and luxury that the Air is in the sedan class, then Lucid should have a hit on its hands. Full disclosure: I'm on my second Tesla (a 2021 Model S Plaid) and my first Lucid (a 2022 Air Dream Performance). The Lucid is the most amazing vehicle I've ever owned, and I plan to set things in motion to replace our 2018 Honda Odyssey with a Gravity as soon as orders open up.

Thanks for watching and for the info! Also thanks for being part of the "EV Revolution" with your EVs! The reason for the lighter crowds is that this coverage is from Media Day. This means only media were allowed in as it was not open to the General Public, until the following day. Hence the reason the crowds seemed light. Also, throughout the day, various OEMs do their press reveals/announcements, so most of the crowd tends to wander from OEM booth to OEM booth following all of these announcements. This is typical. With regards to Lucid, we will see and glad you like your AIR. Yes SUVs are a hit, but really we need more of less - more mid-sized and compact BEVs than large SUVs, so this really does nothing for me. And in the scale of the global LDV market, which is about 80 million units per year (plug-ins this year will be about 14 million of that), the few thousand/20-30K that Lucid might build per year, is a grain of sand in this global market so why am I to get excited about this? I want to see more mass-market adoption at a higher pace and expensive SUVs don't do that. IMO anyhow. Thanks.

Thanks for the information about the crowds. I understand your point about more down-market adoption of EVs. However, throughout the history of the automobile, it has been the high-performance and luxury products that whetted the appetite of consumers for the cars they could afford, thus driving the spread of more product into the mass market. While few people can afford a Lucid Air Sapphire, it is the Sapphires of this world -- not the Nissan Leafs -- that will dispel the myth that electric cars will inevitably be the death knell of driving excitement.
