Find you via my son in law and enjoying your videos. Now catching up from the start. Your injury reminded me of one I had years ago. Got permission from SWMBO for a trip on my new to me used Pan European to ride up to the Highlands. Camped in Keswick for a night & in the morning managed to blow myself up in my tent , don't ask. Rushed to hospital bandaged up and after a chat with the medical team I decided to still ride to FW and received daily treatment. Ver long story short my land lady became a friend for 25 years so it was worth my suffering. So why the comparison ! Well we're both Bikers of a certain generation and it takes a lot for us to give up with reaching our destinations once we set off. Now back to catching up. Stay safe.
Nice to hear you were in the Andrew, last year I broke my ankle I have to do physio exercises each day as it is recommended to prevent further fractures, plus vitamin D3 capsules milk and cheese.❤⚓️
Hi, I’m following your trip avidly and am greatly refreshed with your “down to Earth” presentation style. I used to ride but my biggest trip was UK to Italy _ it felt epic at the time. I am also a four wheel person - hopefully a nice one. It is great following you in almost real-time and I admire your sunny disposition and resilience. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your coming episodes.
Hi Eric, to be honest, I only started doing this for friends and family and it kinda….got a bit more coverage than I expected. I only thought I’d get a few dozen subscribers from friends and family. Bit like I said, I’m doing this for me and my friends and family, so what you see onscreen is what you get. I’m glad you enjoy what you see and hopefully you will keep on noting my future videos.
The adventure continues, excellent. Make sure you give us a tour of your campsite now and again. I think all your viewers want to feel the closest they can to being there through your videos. Wishing your ankle well.
Wow that coast road ride looks amazing... done it with the kids in a hire car many years ago and would love to return on a bike... well done great ride!
Good job on the video. I like the background music and your lead in with the explanations. Been through Spain myself on my Superduke GT, so great to see the familar terrian. Keep the videos coming
It,s good to see you,re resume you,re trip . ( take care with the ankle ) I took the boat to Tanger Med also a good ferry. Good luck and beautyful kilometers in Afrika 👍
Safe and fun travels. I was in Morocco in July this year ( rode from N Ireland), so I’m looking forward to your videos and your experience there. Lovely people in a lovely country and delicious food. We used the Moroccan INWE SIM cards which worked really well in the areas we went to - Rif / Atlas Mountains and the farthest south was Oarzazate - Marrakesh- Essouira . 20 euro for 20 GBs data and got them at the port in Tangerine Med - I’m sure they’ll be at your port too. Enjoy the Mint tea. Def worth a try - lovely !!. I only arranged a Revolut card on my phone a week before departure and it worked in the garages where my Halifax card wouldn’t, so worth getting that sorted prior to the ferry or some backup and having cash too as most of the country/countryside work on cash only. Def get into the queues quickly for customs & police when you board the ferry - it takes longer than the ferry journey, hence why the ferry was late arriving - we found this out after standing in the queue for 2-15 hrs on a ferry that finished the trip in 1-5 hrs. Enjoy the trip and hope your ankle heals well 👌👌👏👏🏍️🏍️🍻
Sorry to hear about your ankle, good to see you're back on your feet. Two weeks after the ankle injury and you're cutting the plaster off and riding 250km! Well done you, what an inspiration. 👍👍👍
Sorry to hear about the ankle, mine broke a few years ago due to "deer interface issues", don't rush it. I was down in that area last month, there are top class roads inland a bit if the ankle is up to it.
Really sorry to hear about your injury but mightily impressed by your response...nothing seems to get in the way of your adventure. An example to us all. Keep up the positivity and thanks for sharing your journey with us. Ride safe
I’m planning a similar trip in the spring, riding from Stockholm to Bilbao. I’m starting to prepare my bike now, being roughly your age, at least I want my ride to be in top condition! Take it easy with your ankle!
It's great 👍 to see you back on the road again and on your way to Gibraltar. Sorry to hear about your ankle...take care and enjoy your awesome journey ! I really enjoy your travels ☺️-Gary
Well done to you sir! Enjoying your video updates greatly, and looking forward to the next instalment.. Hope the ankle holds up 🤞 Went to Morocco a few years back with a touring company (have a video on RU-vid), and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Worst part of the trip for me was the ferry from Plymouth to Santander - I’m not a very good sailor! 🤢😂. All the best, Paul 👍
respect mate, your a tough old cookie. I imagen a lot of peep would have quit with a broken foot but that obviously never even crossed your mind. impressive.
Love your videos, nice easy going and relaxed. An inspiration to get out there and explore!! Hope your ankle is ok, seems very quick to take the cast off after two weeks! Take care and safe travels :)
Really good videos chap. I’ll be watching all the way through. I’ve been thinking of this journey for a while. Was very envious when I seen the start of your trip. I recognized the landscape. I’m over the water in Greenock. Stay safe and look forward to your next video!
Really enjoying following your journey and very pleased you have recovered sufficiently from your injury to continue your journey. Also been following you on Suzuki Vstrom Owners UK as I'm a fellow Vstrom owner.
Really sorry to hear about your ankle your an absolute trooper 👌loving the videos hope all heals up well looking forward to your next video , I prefer long trips on my own also just back from Switzerland stunning trip 👌 Steven
excellent , good to see you coped with the wee setback. I can recommend getting the ferry to Tangier Med, no fixers, no chancers, straightforward. You can get insurance just before you leave the port, cash exchange and a Morrocan sim card. My wife and I were there in April.
Good man. Won’t let something as trivial as a broken ankle stop your trip. All part of the adventure. Looking forward to future videos and good luck !!
A refreshingly interesting and inspirational trip which I’m following with interest. Really sorry to hear about your ankle but really admire your grit and determination to carry on regardless, brilliant. 👍👍
Enjoying your videos. Glad the ankle is healing. If you have time would love to see more on the Dessert Fox bags, how they are holding up? How you mounted them etc. nothing on RU-vid I could find. Thanks
The desert Fox bag is superb. Absolutely. I love it and wish id bought a second one now. Just before I go to Mauritania I'll do a bit on video about the bags. Promise.
Interesting to see you on your way to Morocco. Watched Itchy Boots go through there on her way down to West Africa. Quite a trip. Following you now. She is travelling around India right now to escape the rains in West Africa. Fair winds to you!
Your way of living life is brilliant. A normal no fuss person, these days this is a refreshing change. My last sentence sounds odd, but oh, so true. More power to you 👍
Hope the ankle holds up. We are loving your adventure. Have rode that stretch many times around Malaga ... it's literally like driving in Essex .. that's because so many brits. I dunno where you are now but you are so close to one of the best roads in Spain The mountain road to RONDA. if you get a chance, get well and sty well , we wish you a great journey. kind regards Mark & Lisa.
I’ve only just come across your channel Ian and I’m enjoying your travels through Spain and onwards. Those Spanish roads put our third world equivalent to shame. I look forward to seeing more. Best Wishes. Gerry R1200GSA
IM quite impressed BROKEN ankle riding YOUR BIKE reading your kindle and video editing your putting the young ones to shame had exactly the same year and model Suzuki same colour when I done the Pyrenees may I ask your age as im 70 and really impressed ALEX
Ian i hope things go well but am a wee bit concerned about your ankle. Only two weeks and like another person said at our age repairs can take longer. I am another V Strom rider from Scotland and have been to Morocco many times but no further. The roads are generally good but can change quickly i am worried about all that gear and your heavy bike. I have never camped in Morocco because hotels are so cheap and i imagine Mauritania/Senegal will be similar. If I was you i would try and lighten my luggage, you could leave it in Spain and retrieve it coming home, Also i would wait a wee bit longer and consult a specialist in Gib with maybe an X ray included. But whatever you do all the best
Sorry to hear of your problem If you don't mind, could you talk us all through the process of seeking medical assistance in another country It's something that is often overlooked Did you have insurance, or did you have to pay for treatment What did you think of the health care you received I think any info would be of benefit to other adventure riders Hope you take it carefully from now on and enjoy the rest of your trip
I just went to the hospital, and using Google translate, told them my issue and quite soon after I saw a Nurse, then a doctor, then an x-ray and then a cast was put on my leg. I had my health card and even though the UK has left the EU there is still an agreement allowing UK and EU nationals to be treated in each others countries. It was all very some and very quick. The Spanish hospital in Motrill was superb.
@onemanonebike8514 Hello Thanks for your quick response That's great news and very comforting to know Take it easy and enjoy your trip Watching with interest I have travelled to Morocco a few times and it is the Adventure capital of the world for me Hotels are cheap if you stay away from the major cities Haggle, and then haggle some more and you will love it Shout if you need anything Enjoy
As your one RU-vid subscriber, and as a man of a similar age, I'm worried the cast came off after only 2 weeks as we don't repair as quickly as we used to. Was this a doctor recommendation or on the basis of I'm old enough to make my own decisions? Either way, I'm looking forward to the rest of your trip. 👍
glad to know your ankle is mending, curious to know how your medical treatment was paid for, presumably by travel insurance and was it an easy process at the hospital, all the best
I didn't pay a penny. I had my UK health card with me and fortunately there is still an agreement between Spain and the UK for healthcare for both it's citizens in either country.
Hola.
Oh tea, you are a real noble, English (Scottish) man. But I'm worrying of your ankle condition. When you feel hurt or pain of your ankle, it's a sign of unhealed. At that condition, you have to fix your ankle by using the brace or bandage. Take care.
