@@javiercarrasco9410 mg-42 is a very obsolete gun. Mainly for its overly high rpm(low accuracy due to.high recoil), heavy ammo consumption and its heavy weight.

Virtually all modern machine guns use it as inspiration at aleast - and in an incredible amount of cases they straight up use the feed mechanism from the MG-42. The MG3 is effectively a modern MG-42 that is mostly unchanged from its predecessor. Even the absurdly high rate of fire is present with the installation of the "light" bolt. Ammo consumption and recoil isn't as much of an issue when the thing is mounted in a vehicle. tl;dr: The MG-42 could and absolutely would go head to head against any modern offerings on the battlefield and not be outclassed.

@Константин Щербаков I saw and I understand, but since boots are such an important part of equipment, not many other pieces of equipment can disable soldier so quickly and render him so useless than boots, I thought a bit about history, events pro and con, evolution. Since I was in the war I am totally aware of its importance

I guess you are right, but German did have standardized boots when attacked Russia and what happened? Could not wait to find some dead Soviet soldier to grab his footwear...

Imagine yourself being fed and armed somewhere on a front, but with frostbites and a "trench foot" and me without weapon or food, maybe I could have a knife, but with good insulating footwear, what do you think who would have better chances? Pain and immobility are just debilitating issues for a soldier. You would do better without such soldier than with one like that. My experience showed me just how much that is important, it is crazy, frostbite and trench foot is not taking away just that one soldier, but a couple more that have to carry him around and take care of him. I just can not underline that enough how important that is. From my own experience.

Seems like translaters of the show are focusing on american watcher - yank style narrator, and no metric system in subtitles.

As a Pole I'm very antirussian, but I must say - You are completelly wrong. STG-44 has completely different machinery inside. So point by point: 1. Gas operating system was invented in XIX century, patented by Browning, and in this case it was copied by Germans from Russian SVT rifles. So this part was "stolen" from Russians, who copied it from Americans. 2. Idea - first assault rifles were invented in early XX century and first mass produced assault rifle was russian Fedorov from 1916. So Germans took idea of STG-44 from Russians. 3. Ammo - russian 7,62x39 was developed in 1943 before STG-44 was born. 4. Internal machinery - AK uses rotating bolt and main spring is placed in front part of weapon, while STG-44 uses tilting bolt and main spring is located in a stock. So these weapons are completelly different. The only thing, which Russians probably copied from Germans was trigger mechanism, which is similar (but not identical) to these made by Hugo Shmeisser. And if you are looking for mechanical copy of STG-44 then look at FN-FAL, which is very much based on STG-44.

They look almost identical. I was always under the impression the Soviets designed the AK based on the sturmgewehr 44. Thanks for the correction my man. The more ya know.... ; )

@@RR-us2kp That Russian weapons are ideal for untrained conscripts. The conscripts in USSR served for 2 years in the army and 3 years in the fleet. They were everything else than untrained. It's just one of discovery channel myths. Also HK and FN are not better than Russian arm makers. In fact German army and government were very unhappy with HK in the last decade.
