It always bugged me so much how they couldnt hire someone who knows anything about cars for these movies. Very interesting to know they did and just didnt listen lol

Ive been a huge fan of this car for as long as I can remember. I knew a guy that was big in the import car scene back in the early 2000's and he had one of the original roof scoops made for these cars. (The paper work says there were only 10 made) This part now sits on a shelf in my shop, amazing piece of automotive history.

The eclipse is my first favorite car from the franchise. I remember when I was a 3-4 years old watching the movie on VHS and I hated it when the car blew up. Sweet memories

He said they settled on danger to manifold so it could be a simple phrase non-car people could understand. Yeah...non-car people don't understand that.

"Danger to Manifold" took 18 years to finally become a real phrase in the car world. Don't believe me? Just look at the Underground Racing Audi R8 at the Pikes Peak 1/2 mile drags last week.

Most 'non-car people' don't even know what a manifold is, you were right that low oil pressure would have been perfect.

Craig, thank you for finally setting this straight, been saying it for years...why? Because my best friend and I (rest his soul) met John at a car show down here in San Diego. I recall it having a PlayStation in it since my friend got to talking with John for like over 40 minutes and allowed for him to cross over the rope and fully check it out. He mentioned about being approached for an up and coming film and was planning on ‘meeting’ with folks in the near future about it. Fast forward about a year or so and our group- SoCal DSM was told about extras being needed for a street racing film called “Redline”. I couldn’t make the trip that day for racewars, but my friend did. Several members of our group did go and their cars made a few appearances in the film. Unfortunately the tape that I had filmed that day at the car show was non playable after 20 plus years, was one of the few recording I had of my Bro, but the memories and the movies help🤙🤘 Oh- and yes I did see the blown up eclipse in Vegas.

My buddy had an AWD turbo eclipse back in the day. It was pretty darn quick, just a couple of suspension mods, good tires and of course a decent intake manifold. 😏

I get the "the danger to manifold"...Dom mentions after the 1st race..."I'm surprised you didn't blow the welds on the intake"...they must have installed an intake manifold weld temperature gauge to that eclipse when using NOS...lol!

The Eclipse has NOS Stickers, before it had NOS installed...

I have to say though. "Danger to the Manifold" gives us comedy gold to last a lifetime, and I still say it with a smile in times of trouble

Each stickers is +5hp, the decals is +15hp, so if do the math, this thing is crazy fast.

I had seen this car when I was growing up and several years later, when I turned 16, I found a 95 Eclipse GS. I was so excited to own the same car as Brian! Of course I believed a lot of what I saw in the movie and mistook the Eclipse in the movie as the awd GSX model. I was bummed because by the early to mid 2000s it was very hard to find a good condition 2nd Gen. Eclipse and damn near impossible to find a good condition GSX version. Most were riced out or at least not to the specs/ style I wanted. I loved the car because it came across as attainable, reliable (kinda), and had a slew of parts available for it. The Eclipse is still one of my all time favorite tuner cars.

Hey Craig, I really do love the detailed list of the Eclipse and I appreciate every single part of detail you did to make this hard work. I'm actually curious to find the sound engineers for this movie + 2F2F + TFnF: Tokyo Drift to see if they still have their engine sounds so then I can convert them to a game called Street Legal Racing: Redline and Test Drive Unlimited (the power of mods are with this one). Do you know anyone who still has the engine sounds anywhere for the movie's cars?

This was and always will be my favorite car of the series. I remember trying to replicate it in Tokyo extreme racer as a kid! Fun fact that game had the trailer for the original fast and furious movie! 😎

Thinking back there was a replica Eclipse that ran out my area in the early 2000's. Guy drove it that way for years until he got tired of it and painted it dark purple with no graphics. The CF hood came up and smashed the windshield and roof after that and that was probably the last I saw of it.

I remember this Eclipse and the one from Need for Speed Underground made me want an Eclipse really bad. You can hardly find any of them anymore.

The Maxima was my favorite car from the movie. Bad ass story.

I’m building a replica now! :D. I found one that has the right color paint, blitz body kit, correct wing and CF hood already, but it’s in bad shape and needs some tlc. Side note, I was pulled over just 2 hours after buying the car and got two tickets. Reminds me of being back in high school.

Great video ending on a great song from the time. Put a huge smile on my face so thank you! I graduated high school in 1996 so when this movie came out I was all in. I saw it I think 9 times in the theater.

The most hilarious part that gets memed in the car community is danger to manifold. Hahah

The dumbest part was the floor board falling out, I was like wtf how is that possible when I first watched the movie. I also immediately recognized the 420A engine it had and not the 4G63 Mitsubishi turbo engine, so many weird wrong things that happened in this movie but to this day it is still my favorite movie of all time

The Stunt 2 Eclipse in Illinois is located at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. I had the privilege of seeing it and taking some pics after it was displayed at a theater opening in nearby Vernon Hills, IL.

I still have my eclipse. It's a 95 GS. Riced out to the max. Rebuilt engine and transmission. 12 piece wide body kit. Carbon fiber hood, hatch, mirrors and interior. Sparco seats and detachable wheel. 20 inch trims. Hok Candy orange paint. 3 15 I'll inch JL audio subs. 4 old crossfire amps that are no longer available. Owning the car brings back nostalgic memories but I'm too embarrassed to drive the thing now lol.

Lots and lots of people will HATE me for saying this but I still don’t like that body kit. The facelifted 1997-99 Eclipse body for me is like one of best looking cars in the world. And that paintjob. I don’t know, it’s too all over the place. I liked the paintjob on 3Gen Eclipse from 2 Fast 2 Furious. It is really tasteful in my opinion. You’re not seeing this in our times. Car nowadays have either bone stock looks or are riced out like crazy. No middle ground with styling actually done right.

just watched F&F again with my kids last night. its funny coz my kids are only 10 and 8 years old and for the past few years, have been showing interest in a lot of old car related movies. and a few days ago, I just overheard my kids talking about "Motec Systems Exhaust" and I was like, you guys want to watch the movie again?

Got caught for exhibition of speed in San Diego at the Sorrento Valley street races in my Chameleon, widebody, R32 tailight conversion CRX 😂 back in 2002. Talk about a full bowl of rice. I had a ZC DOHC with a 60 shot single fogger. This lady cop literally gives me a lesson after seeing the bottle "haven't you seen the movie and youre going to blow yourself up etc etc etc etc". That movie was in my opinion the death of Kearny Villa Rd.

It appears no one noticed or pointed out on the list of Brian's eclipse, it has it listed as 2.0L 1997 cubic inch !!!!! That is roughly the displacement of "5" Chevy 350s combined!!. Some type I know. Should be 1997 cubic centimeters. But I found it to tickle my tummy. Thanks for all the real info though Craig. Much appreciated.

Ive been to the Las Vegas one, very surreal,i love how the wheels were still in tact,i wanted to buy them,i actually have a video of that museum on my channel if anyone wants to check it out, i also fell guilty into owning one of those 50+ replicas lol,before i was finished with mine i also got interviewed by Mighty Car Mods when they went to Vegas in 2013,the video can be found both in my channel and also in MCMtv2,later that year when i was finally done with the replica i heard the sad news of Paul Walkers passing,on the next day i tied a black lace on the rear antenna and drove all around Vegas where i was getting thumbs up and compliments on the car and where ever i parked i got people wanting to take pictures of it, later in 2013 towards the end i was asked to represent Paul Walker in a Memorial Cruise wich can also be found in my channel,the last 2 events i showed up with my replica were at a Car Meet in Vegas and also attended Import Face Off in Las Vegas Nevada,These Movies have really been a big part of my life growing up,specially in my love for cars,I love anything Fast and The Furious,and i hope everyone enjoys my videos as well. To be fair I leaned out hard in a 93 TSI and fried the rings. I drove it like that for 2 weeks (maybe more) until I picked up a replacement engine. It still drove okay and pulled hard on boost, it just would blow the dipstick out and spray oil if I ran it too hard. Its perfectly believable that Brian drove away and outran the cops after the race.

This is just like pimp my ride. We thought it was cool when we were kids...

Okay so I know now that the real eclipse was a mostly stock rs with body kit.. but the movie still portrayed it as turbo, you can turbo any vehicle and tune it, it doesnt have to come stock turboed. It was portrayed as an aftermarket tuner vehicle doesnt mean the real car prop had to be. The "imaginary" movie car is turbo with a Garrett ball bearing 30r

its got a greddy sticker on the bumper but doesnt have a turbo. haha.
