I met him in ‘85, Psi-Com played in an abandoned adobe shack in the High Desert. Probably 40 people tops. We all went to someone’s house in Victorville afterwards. He was REAL quiet, in retrospect he was probably high on smack
Amazing! I was at an American Records Release party in Nashville. I bellied up to the bar next to a dude who was in a flashy suit who was sorta in our group the whole day. I asked him where he was from and he said Silverlake. I jokingly said “so how’s Perry!?” He laughed and said brother, I use to be in a band with him. I knew he wasn’t in Jane’s so I excitedly said “Psi Com!?” And his mind was blown I knew of them and didn’t believe me when I said it was one of my favorite bands. He asked what my favorite song was and I said City of 9 Gates! He pulled out 200$ and said I’ll give this to you if you can sing me a verse, so I sang the entire song and he gave me 300$ and we took shots and partied all night. He was cool, it was an amazing experience but I was sorta sad he was a corporate type music industry dude that was over the top LA.
Inspirational guy but his vocal talents long gone . Between the drugs and that surgery he had. But i respect him. He was ahead of his time and without a doubt one of the pioneers of rock and roll of the 80s and 90s era.
I've been listening to some recent clips, and I gotta call bullshit. Dude's in his 60s, and hee doesn't have the effortless lung power of youth, but he sounds surprisingly good. He still makes judicious use of his electronics, and that can help carry some notes. His voice is never going to be what it was, but it's better than you're giving it credit for
I saw Jane’s Addiction on Lollapolooza in 1991. Saw Porno for Pyros in 1993. Both great! It was the end of Jane’s and a new beginning for Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins in Porno for Pyros!
Saw them twice at first lolpalooza ... saw them four years before that. Open for Love and rockets. They scared the love and rockets crowd. They were so hacked and high. Amazing.
Bryce Thibodeaux he always seems to be whatever his muse molds him to be. With Casey it was early Jane’s.. With Etti it’s plastic Beverly Hills Rawk Stah of the rich and famous... Casey is still Casey. I got into some discussions with her on my Facebook about ideology and while we didn’t see eye to eye, I still respect the girl. She probably hates me though. 😂 She’d post on my page calling me names and making fun of me, and it meant the world to me. There’s no pretense with that girl.
It's a Porno for Pyros song called "Orgasm." I don't know this rendition of it though -- I only really recognized it toward the end, when hearing Perry sing "... so good," etc.
