I normally knit sock two at a time, but willing to try knitting them in tandem. I have also knit socks one at a time but always forget what I have done with the first one by the time I knit the second. I love that you are having a great time with MJ. The years go by so quickly!

Ok, to help you knit second socks: I just make myself cast on immediately when I finish the first sock. I also make myself bring the second sock with me as my on the go knitting even if I want to work on something else 😅 So proud of you for getting your second sock going though!

Hi Nicole, Pretty Twisted Yarn has a Shark Week Sock Set available but there is no yellow in the color pallet. Just blues, reds and grey. It is a Jaws themed color way. Really enjoy your podcasts!

80/20 sock yarn tends to be closer to 400yds/100 compared to 75/25 swm/nylon yarn at 463yds/100g so maybe there's less yardage in your 50g skein (like 200 yards instead of 232 yards) so maybe that's why you're thinking you might run out?? I always knit my socks two at a time in tandem on their own needles so I'll have two 9" circulars going and cast on one, then cast on another, knit one cuff, and then knit the second cuff, 10 rnds on a leg and 10rnds on the other leg, etc. I also like to knit slipped stitch heel flaps on dpns and then switch back to 9" circulars for the gusset. The colors of those stripey socks are just so so joyful!! I'm currently knitting neon speckled summer shorties and look forward to casting on self-striping yarn for the next pair of socks or maybe I'll do scrappy neon socks....so many options! The end of the school year can be so bittersweet. My youngest said he whole class was crying (including their teacher) on the last day because nobody wanted the school year to end! They had SUCH a great year and their teacher is just absolutely fantastic. Summer "flow" is always a little tricky because it can change week to week (at least for us!). The kids have scheduled things but I like to have "free days" where we can pack up a cooler and head to a lake beach and bring books to read and knitting and whatever else we want. Oh that's totally it probably. My one 50 g sock set was a 75/25 and this 50 g sock set is 80/20. But, what surprised me, is I actually have pretty small feet so I was just not expecting to run out yarn. :) But that has to be it! I can see switching back to the 9" for the gusset. I may try that sometime. we are working on our summer "flow." Today was a good day. MJ helped with gardening and we seemed to have a routine. I love your idea of a free day. MJ has been swimming 6 days a week (sometimes 7), so there hasn't been space to just have a day to "be." the idea of one or two free days is really good!!!

Hi Nicole. I really like to knit my socks concurrently, one sock each on their own long circular needle. I use stitch markers and place them about every 10 rows so that I can keep the two socks progressing one behind the other. I knit toe up so I start with the yarn wound into two balls and knit them as long in the leg as the yarn allows or wherever it seems to be a good place to stop. So far this method works for me! I,too, knit my toe up socks 2 at a time concurrently on dpn 's. Works for me, when done, they are done!

I agree with you. “Syndrome” sounds negative and that you have a disease. Everyone is different and we should embrace that. I typically cast on my second sock within 24 hours of finishing my first sock. Also, who says you have to have second sock that matches. Maybe you can pair up your single socks to make pairs. That might be a fun video.
