This week we visited a good friend Riley Jimison of Riley's Reptiles. Our species focus in this episode is one of my all-time favorite pythons, Morelia bredli.

My Bredli is bar none my favorite snake I own. He's the only snake I have that I genuinely feel recognizes me and appreciates handling. I may be anthropomorphizing a bit, but seriously, these guys just seem smart.

I got a 3 month old baby from Nick. He's a nice little guy, doesn't bite and is not defensive but does eat very well. Can't wait to see him grow.

This is helpful, thanks. I have a nice baby bredli coming to me soon, and it helps to know that they are hardy. I like your phrase "offered to bite." Nice euphemism.

Nice, that is quite literally the perfect choice for a first snake for me. I live in central Australia so the cold winters and hot summers describe the climate here accurately. And they’re also the most accessible and affordable ones locally. Them having a really placid nature would be ideal. And their hardiness is what I’d be looking for. I could save a fortune on electricity and lighting if I can build a suitable enclosure that can give them access to the sun to bask in. And I could save a fortune on feed costs if I can breed feeders

I don't know how well the feeders will do with those temperatures, you'd have to keep them inside or with shelter. I remember those sub 0 temperatures.

@@j.kaimori3848 yeah our winters get quite cold so provisions would be needed to keep feeders from freezing to death. While also not keeping them inside the house because rodents are some stank ass creatures

@@unstoppableExodia rats aren't as bad as mice but yeah. Have you gone about getting a snake yet? It might be worth considering what time of year you want to start the breeding. I wish you well. Sometimes you can also supplement pythons with poultry as they get older.

@@j.kaimori3848 yeah I’m still some way off getting a snake. I need to get my place ready for it. I’d like to be breeding quail and rabbit for meat at some stage in the future so I’d be able to feed some from them to a python or some other such carnivorous pet
@j.kaimori3848

@@unstoppableExodia that sounds fun if you can handle the guts. I don't know if I could. It's probably better than some farming if you are able to also kill them in a good way.

Nice! Very timely for me to watch, I’m adding my first Bredli to my collection in a few months. I’m getting one from Steven Katz’s latest clutch.

I have four Bredl's and only one of them is as docile as the reputation haha. One is a complete psycho and the other is 50/50 and the next is like 70 percent chill. Only one is a complete angel.

These a good beginners snake ?
@GodboldExotics
@GodboldExotics 5 лет назад
They get big but are bulletproof and pretty laid back so except for size, my thoughts are yes. They will top out at roughly 8 feet for a large female but you can keep them small depending on how you feed.

Godbold Exotics my is about 5 months old and I handle her once every few days is that ok and leave her be after feeding of course was thinking of feeding her fuzzy mice as she is smashing two pinkies a week that are your thoughts ?

@@GodboldExotics does that mean if you feed them smaller meals like mice or frequency of feeding?
