she lost her dad, never found peace afterwards met makoto who helped her, finally comforted her, falls in love giving a sense of hope and happiness again.. then makoto dies so it makes ALOT of sense for her to start acting irrationally cause she's back to what she was feeling in the first place twofold. so when she isnt given what she wants (a chance to see him again) she finally breaks. og had her acting realistically cause she probably feels more lonely than shes ever been. you dont just lose family, then lose your lover soon after and not be affected lol. anyone would start acting batshit crazy, if i was in the same situation, i would be tempted to do the same. f**k the world, the earth can go to hell if it means i can see them again.
I always said that, unlike the rest (not Fuuka) she was the only one to not have had faced resolution from Death, just from being incapable of doing anything about it. Everyone faced death of someone that mattered a lot to them and then face reality of "things are, I am to grow from this." Ken faced this with his mom AND all those imotions went to Shinji, which was the moment he realized what it all means... what was even the point of his purpose if death was all he looked at? For Yukari, it wasn't like that, instead, it was to right the wrongs of the past and move forward... death was just collateral, but now faced with it, she had to go through it again and she collapsed. She hadn't faced this type of death during her resolution.
And to this day, Yukari's still wishing to see Makoto one last time while making sure she keeps her promise to him I guess it's the only wish that's left to fulfill her heart and she's yet to see it come true. Maybe then, she will gain real happiness
The best thing that Episode Aigis did was get people to finally understand how and why Yukari acted the way she did in The Answer. The same people that hated Yukari's actions in The Answer now WANT her to express her real ugly and raw emotions because they've been nutured in Episode Aigis. Yukari never acted out of character. All we had to do was grow up to realize it.
A lot of people have already realized this long before Reload was even announced. I would see Yukari rising higher and higher on every poll and constant comments gushing about how she reacted in og Answer. Maybe it's because it resonates with more people now then ever, maybe Covid experiences played a part? Either way it's too little too late and now Atlus thinks we hated it.
Unfortunately, this came at a price. I think removing the part where she tries to pry the key from Aigis really removes a lot of the emotional impact Yukari had. Also, welcome to the club. I never disliked her from the beginning.
@@ShadowOfMassDestruction Honestly, I think Covid really did help with Yukari's rep because it made people realize that if someone close to them died, then there's a good chance that their heart will take over their head and make them do stupid stuff like Yukari did.
Honestly, I prefer the original. There’s something about her trying to pry the key from Aigis’ hands, then being told her efforts would be in vain before falling to the ground just hurts so much harder.
@@gamerbeast3616no shit, she’s dealing with emotions of loss. 😭 With an opportunity like that, she desperately wanted to save the only person she cared about and who understood her.
I also like the original more. I see what they are trying but it feels like they pandered too much to the other end where I can't really feel like she had that strong of an attachment to the mc. I do think in the original there were some moments that weren't written too well that it feels a bit out of character for her. But I definitely felt she was more desperate and emotional about the mc's death
@@gamerbeast3616did you forget the part that she's a teenage girl that lost 2 of her loved ones? OG Yukari is exactly how I can see a normal teenage girl would react if they've given a chance to go back in time for a slim chance of saving a loved one. It portrayed a person dealing with grief better. The Reload version, while isn't bad per se, doesn't portray the scene with much emotion in comparison.
Fun Fact: In the Japanese version of P3FES, Chidori wasn't mention at all by Junpei which he is actually referring to Makoto. This was changed in the English version of P3FES which is either a mistranslation or the change was done on purpose. Both the Japanese and English version of Reload opt to removed the part which led to Junpei not mentioning either of them.
Probably a mistranslation since depending on your actions, Chidori doesn't die. Sure she's amnesiac and not the same person, but she's still alive. Makoto dying makes sense no matter the outcome, so I'm sad they removed any mention. Makoto being brought back gives a chance for him not to even be the same person, just like Chidori, so I felt that it was important.
Overall I think Reload improved on The Answer, when it came to showing the grief all the members of SEES have over Makoto’s death, Mitsuru’s new lines in particular are great. Yukari feels very watered down though. Her new VA really sold her grief during her breakdown scene, but without her trying desperately to snatch the key off Aigis, it loses a lot of its impact.
I was looking forward to the scene where Yukari tries to take the key by force. It hit so hard for me with how real it felt! She wants to see him so badly, and emotions are so overwhelming that she’s willing to even steal the key for herself! Feels anticlimactic with how she just falls to her knees instead.
Two differences that I noticed are summarized as follows: "This isn't going anywhere, we'll settle this with a duel." in Reload, Yukari acts much more mature, and Mitsuru agrees with her idea. "I really want to see him! If you don't agree, I'll take your keys by force!" in Answer, Yukari acts desperately and starts having the idea of resorting to violence to get what she wants. The argument was saved only because Mitsuru mediated the situation by standing with Yukari and acknowledging the need to fight for it.
@@yuusatakehito7579 It's also a part of her upbringing up with abandonment, loneliness, looking for information on her Dad all on her own that she developed this to quote Goku "if I don't who will" mentality. Even in the scariest situations because no one was there for her in moments of distress she feels she's the only one to count on so she'll bite back out of impulsive resentment as shown with her encounters with the thugs. She shows a lot of care for Makoto obviously but one moment that stuck out to me in particular was when I rewinded one of my saves just to see her forced platonic rank 9 dialogue. She was very insistent on being the one Makoto could lean on because in her eyes he takes care of other people and puts a lot of focus in his strength and power and not looking out for himself, something that sounds like it was inspired from the P3 movies. Makoto and Yukari mirror each other as like parallel opposites in a way. There are qualities that split them apart but the similarities they do have along with the traits that split them apart are what actually bring them together, like a puzzle piece to a space or opposing magnets. She sees a lot of herself in him which is also I think is a big reason why she is so attached to him. Combine that with that severe lone fighter "if I don't who will" mentality fast forwarding to The Answer you'll see that she thinks she's the only one who cares enough to even bother trying to save him. Nyx is a threat they've fought before and she'll do it again to bring him back even if it means doing it by herself.
For the original Episode Aigis/The Answer,Yukari's actions, while not morally understandable, are emotionally understandable. Makoto/Kotone was someone that came into her life and basically turned it upside down for the better, and in the process of all this: Gaining an unforgettable friendship at worst and a loving relationship at best. Once Yukari thought that life was actually looking up for her,it found a way to take away her sunshine just like how life found a way to take away her father which caused her great pain and agony for many years. Then, once she tried her damn hardest to just forget all the pain, life pulled her back in and placed all this stress in her situation on top of that, and the situation could've led to her own death. Then, she let a golden opportunity to see someone she loved deeply slip through her fingers for someone she was just clearly jealous of from day 1 and there's nothing she can do to salvage it per usual. Combined with the fact this is all happening before becoming an adult: She's going to shed tears and blood if that is what it takes sadly. As I said though: Morally wrong Emotionally reasonable
I’m just shocked at all this recent love and care for The Answer. Back when I first joined the fandom, everyone agreed that it was awful. Character wise, story wise and gameplay wise.
Wait, gameplay wise it still is awful, it really is just Tartarus 2, but without social links and the stuff that made P3 special. It really was boring and very repetitive And I think that's one of the reason people started to hate Yukari in that game, after hours and hours of infinite grind in a very boring and tiring gameplay your reward is seeing Yukari complain? I can understand actually And a lot of things were added or changed in reload, but some very specific ones like ??? Death Cutscene the community actually liked
In 2008 there wasn't as much awareness of mental health than nowadays, so is understandable that people nowadays resonate more with characters that struggle with grief.
@@narasnek The hatred for it was still present until it was unclear if it was gonna be in Reload or not. Then a bunch of people started clamoring for it.
@@Oath13K that's why those people shouldn't be taken seriously. They're literal fence sitters that once hated the answer and now all of a sudden they like it because they think reload's was a downgrade or wasn't gonna include it 😂
I love how Junpei’s being way more reasonable in reload, like instead of just being scared, he’s just a little scared, but also doesn’t know if it’ll work
i feel people fail to realize yukari was mad at aigis because aigis is a love rival despite being a robot, so aigis being apprehensive or hesitating makes her upset because it reminds her of how she was with her father: trying to move forward and forget the past, but makoto is an important person to yukari and so of course she wants to go back and see him again. it's just like how she was hung up on her father, but she never figured she could see her father again. she can see makoto again -- she's given the chance to. she's upset aigis is not willing to take the chance, because aren't she and aigis the same? yeah, they are, but they're at different stages in their life, their love, and their grief. when you beat her as aigis, she realizes that she's just doing the same thing she did before -- she's stuck in the past. she can't be stuck in the past, because aigis is, and that's not right for aigis to suffer the same pain as her. she becomes more sympathetic to aigis, and cooperates with her easily. yukari's upset because aigis wants to shut down and be a robot again, so it's like she's running away from the reality makoto is dead and she didn't actually care -- makoto's memory is a burden to aigis and just a reminder she failed her objective. aigis from yukari's point of view is a coward, and even aigis herself admits that. she knows aigis is not just a robot, so why's she acting like it? i don't think yukari was right in trying to take the keys by force, but even aigis herself admits that yukari is correct to an extent. it's why the ending focuses so much on yukari and aigis. they both understand each other, and they both are able to move forward, because they both loved makoto in the same way. they both grieved the same way. aigis had to feel makoto die in her arms, and yukari could only see him after he died. both times, yukari didn't get closure. her father died while she was at home, and makoto died while she was at the graduation ceremony, and she never got to see them before they died. while the entirety of s.e.e.s. were grieving makoto, it was different for aigis and yukari. they both lost the man they loved. while yukari is upset aigis got makoto's power, the reality is yukari would be too scared to even wield orpheus. the reason makoto and aigis can both use orpheus is because they both are scared of the people closest to them dying, but they don't fear death themselves. makoto is too apathetic, and aigis is a robot programmed to save other people. yukari could never wield orpheus because she's still afraid of dying. it's impossible for her to ever have orpheus, but that doesn't mean she's lesser than aigis at all, even though she thinks she is.
Also it was hinted by Ryoji that aigis will find the answer to life after Makoto did the great seal. Yukari was jealous of Aigis because she didn't have any memento of Makoto even when she went to his burial, while Aigis who didn't go to Makoto's burial and was shut down inherited Makoto's power.
@@narasnek Yeah. While I don't think Yukari was reasonable, I don't think anything would have happened if she was. Aigis would have still sat there feeling lost, unaccepting of her emotions -- Metis. Yukari saying "yeah let's go to the present" wouldn't have given S.E.E.S. the way out of the time loop, because that's dishonest. Yukari's whole process is learning to be honest and discard her anxieties. It's why she IS so abrasive -- she doesn't want to be, but she feels like she has to be or people will take advantage of her. It says a lot that Junpei and her were able to work together so easily, because they're mirrors of each other. Junpei tries to be overly friendly and jolly so he doesn't have to discuss his emotions, and Yukari is abrasive and sarcastic so no one will bother asking her, but notice how when she or Junpei are asked directly, they will always tell their true feelings. They're the most honest members of S.E.E.S. after Fuuka and Aigis post-Answer.
@@narasnek Plus she did say that she needed a sign that she is progressing forward to the future after Makoto's death and seeing aigis with the wild card abilities meant that she hasn't moved forward at all.
I think I get it. Simply put, they wrote her grief in an entirely different way in Episode: Aigis, but in a way it still feels believable. In The Answer, she manages to hold onto that fierce determination. She's mad at their current situation, looping the same day over and over, and still having to fight shadows. And she's hurting, but pushing it to the side cause she just wants to get from point a to b. Damn the world, they can save someone they care about. The solution is /right there./ I wouldn't say Yukari is "watered down" in Episode: Aigis. Maybe her reaction is a little, but I think of it more like... at this point, she's exhausted. Yeah, she still feels all of the above, but... this time, it's written with the added exhaustion of bottling up all her grief. After losing, originally she was angry enough to try to argue and snatch the key, but now, she's just tired. She can't do it anymore, not to mention the majority of the team doesn't even want to go back to the past. It's just been constant fighting with both friends AND foes, and... she's tired. Maybe that's why her breakdown with Mitsuru is so much more broken in the new version. Before, it kinda feels like she's grieved at least a little on her own. Now, it genuinely feels like this is the first time she's fully accepted his death. Basically, I can see the argument for either version.
Eh. A middle ground would've been nice. The characters get their points across better in Reload, but Yukari just feels *so* complacent. It's perfectly reasonable to expect irrationality from grieving people and their emotions, so I wouldn't have minded Yukari closer to OG with just a bit of bitchiness removed.
Almost everyone else is just “OG GOOD NEW BAD” but this! There’s good parts to both of them. If they could just be closer to combining the two, there would’ve been almost none of this arguing except for a couple of people…
Okay, I get why Yukari was hated so much now in the original answer. The stuff she said was harsh but she was running on grief and Akihiko did push her into saying all of that. But to be fair they are both in the wrong for saying it. I never played the original answer or the original P3, but I can understand why she acted like that, especially when she was trying to take the key by force. There is something that Reload did better but I wish they didn’t take out the part where she was going to take the key. It felt off when watching her just fall down to the ground without any real reason be side her braking down. Not to mention In the og answer it seemed like Yukair was willing to fight them all even if Mitsuru wasn’t going to take her side. Plus just a little reminder she did lost her dad. And sure she probably did grieve for him a bit but just have to move on from it, cause of her mother going around to different guys. So back then she didn’t have any powers to go back in time and save her dad. But this time she does have powers and an option to do so. She already lost one important person in her life, she can’t lose another.
Junpei: "Is yelling at each other really gonna solve anything?" Yukari: "This is serious!" How the tables have flipped, from Yukari making light of death while Junpei is seriously thinking about dying... now, Junpei isn't making light of anything, but is making sure no one makes the mistake he did by flipping out, which Yukari is doing (I don't blame her, this isna serious moment).
Hmmmm. So Junpei mentions the big elephant in the room in the OG answer. Nyx. The last time they literally fought with all their hearts and souls and in the end basically became completely overwhelmed and couldn't even stand up until Makoto pulled a wild card miracle out of his butt and saved them all. There's nothing at all about their current abilities that would imply they would end up in any better situation going back and trying it again. And of course the chance that they all might fail completely and kill the whole world is far from zero. In the Answer Yukari flat out ignores this and just calls Junpei a coward. In Episode Aigis Junpei falters and doesn't bring it up properly. I'm not sure if I like either 'solution' better than the other.
From my perspective, I liked the Episode: Aigis ver than the OG/The Answer, but that version has so much emotional and heartbreaking moment than Episode: Aigis
Ngl i enjoy both, rather than just complaining this version different than old version, the message seems the same. Also get rekt yukari haters, you know youll act like her or worse if given the chance youre precious one to come back alive
I like both versions, the sadness and determination of Yukari in FES is really good, but Reload has something that I like more than the original: Still remember Yukari and everyone ARE FRIENDS It always been too weird for me how Yukari acts really agressive to the persons who spend, probably, the most important phase of her life. Im not saying her actions or attitude are bad, they are relatable and realistic, and its nice seeing this kind of situations happening where friends fight for what they believe, but Yukari take the decision to fight so fast (Even in reload version), that seems like she doesnt even care about hurting her more beloved friends. I kinda have the same problem with the Reload version, but here Yukari fight for what she believes is right, while also trying to emphatize with Aigis feelings
Reload makes her look so pathetic and complacent, like she was never fighting for anything at all. Hell, there was no reason for the "fight" at all in Reload because the passion and convictions on both sides were neutered. Now everyone feels half assed. Kind of hilarious and sad.
@@matthewbraith0411 Someone had to say it. I joined this fandom back in 2013 and LITERALLY everyone trashed The Answer. It wasn’t until it was unclear if Reload would have it or not that it suddenly became liked. Lmao.
I admit I prefer original Yukari. Yes, she was being a jerk throughout the answer, but honestly, I get it. Not all of us handle loss that well. I think Mitsuru understood that which is why she's helping her.
In my playthroughs I romanced Mitsuru and never interacted with Yukari or used in my party. If The Answer / Episode Aigis played based on everyone's playthroughs, these events would play out very differently for me.
They took all the tension of the whole scene. Honestly Reload has great graphics, but the charterization is poor and is quite sad that People prefer the unrealistic take on grief that they did with Yukari. Yukari in FES was at her lowest and that is why all of her aftermath is so impactful. And Yukari is not a Bitch and never was. A lot of people has to see thought bubble video to get any idea how complex is Yukari's trauma after losing her father. Reload is great for newcomers, mainly about the gameplay, but in storytelling FES is much better. I miss when ATLUS wasn't afraid of showing flawed and human characters. Both Junpei and Yukari got flanderized to be more likeable, intead of true representation of teenagers.
@@narasnekdoesn’t help that after Aigis wins the battle between the two, she just drops on the floor and starts crying compared to her desperately trying to take the key from aigis after losing only to realize that all she ever fought for and her dreams of going back is futile.
Tbh, toning down aside since it's already in base game, FATLUS trying to make Yukari nicer. OG leans towards the 'show more, say less' and Yukari's frustration, jealousy, desperation and sadness are shown in the more believable manner if you know one or two things about losing the person you love most yet unable to move on. Many people in 2008, even the japanese, don't understand what those 'bitchy' actions she does are the result of MC taken away from her, not her core characteristics, so she got called a bitch. And other people who heard others say that The Answer (TA) is shitty didn't bother to play themselves or at least watch the story cutscenes on YT so they have no idea what exactly Yukari did to garner such hate. Reload tries to appease the newcomers by almost outright pointing out that "Look, she is grieving! She is getting desperate!" in a halfass way. Those indications don't show that her desperation reaches the point that she doesn't care about winning or losing, she will just take the key and go back in time so she can see MC again, effectively dooming the world with the Fall. Removing the crucial scene and prior actions will make her falling down and crying not as impactful. At best, you would think that she's crying because she lost, not because she realizes both the facts that the loser can't use the key, and going back in time will cause the Fall again, rendering MC's sacrifice meaningless. She has been very rational throughout the game up to that point and that scene just flips her personality. Right in the meeting scene, she knows that going to the past means fighting Nyx again. In FES, she doesn't care at all. That shows how deep her grief and desperation are. I don't like Yukari when she's this irrational and annoying, but I have to accept it as her character development. Don't water that down just because some of the audience don't understand what you wrote for her.
Og yukari's reaction is way better, but I liked mitsuru's speech more in reload. Either way we now understand yukari's point of view because all of us are way more mature than we were back then. As a matter of fact her reaction, to me, is very relatable: when my dad passed away I was convinced I could have prevented it, with time I realised that I would have delayed the inevitable at best. If back then I had the chance to go to the past I would have done it, now I wouldn't.
I actually sympathize with Yukari and prefer her original characterization, but Reload didn't fix some of the flaws with The Anwer. One problem I have with both versions is that while Yukari has understandable reasons for what she's doing (even if what she's doing isn't right), she's the only one who's actually pushing for the group to go back in time to try to save the protagonist. Akihiko, Ken and Junpei are against it, and everyone else is undecided- even Mitsuru just supports Yukari out of obligation despite not agreeing with her. Essentially, it's Yukari and Mitsuru vs. everyone else, so Yukari's almost singlehandedly starting the fighting is a large part of why a lot of people used to dislike Yukari. The tournament setup is also rather strange. Aigis and Metis end up fighting Akihiko and Ken, then Junpei and Koromaru, before Yukari and Mitsuru, even though the former two teams have more of a problem with Yukari's group than they do with Aigis' group. While Akihiko is understandably worried about letting Aigis have the key if she's undecided, Junpei only fights Aigis because he doesn't think she can win against Yukari and Mitsuru. And then there's how the vast majority of the plot development happens at the very beginning or near the end. TL;DR? Reload is worse but the original wasn't perfect, either.
Nope, that wasn't the point. Junpei is not taking any side and is afraid of taking a decision. Akihiko and Ken want to ignore the truth and keep moving. Yukari is stuck in the past, Mitsuru is with Yukari because she can't be honest with her. Aigis doesn't know what to do. All of this característics are part of their reverse arcana. In Reload doesn't make sense fighting to rush things is awfully written if you ask me.
They sloppily did this, because at the final boss, Yukari still apologizes for "saying some terrible things to Aigis" even though in Reload she doesn't say anything terrible to Aigis.
Boooooo! the devs caved in about all the people complaining yukari is a bitch and neutered the scene in Episode Aigis... the OG did a perfect Job in escalating the difference of their choices and how it leads to a confrontation in the Arena, made sense cause the characters were actually beefing with one another and in Reload they dont even sound heated
I really hated how they toned down everything that made Yukari's arc my favorite part of the answer, damn even her breakdown made me tear up in the original In Reload it was pretty dull, not only her breakdown but her whole attitude was meh
I like the scene with her trying to get the keys, but I think the way everything was handled in Reload is pretty consistent. She's more introspective and grieving, she just snaps a little bit because they're not thinking about bringing him back. In the answer, it looks like she acted like this because of the things Akihiko told her too (people forget he was more of an asshole in the original too)
Well said, although I believe they could've kept Yukari's aggressive comments on the talking scene, I think the new VA would've nailed It on balancing the emotion with the reasoning
We call that irony. By the end of her SLink Yukari realizes that even though her mom was jumping from man to man, it didn't mean she wasn't affected by the death of her husband. She comes to understand that we all have different ways of dealing with grief. In The Answer, Yukari falls back onto old habits and misconstrues Aigis' depression and withdrawal as her not really caring about the MC. By the end of the game, Yukari apologizes to Aigis, realizing that Aigis was also agonizing over the MCs death, just in a different way.
To give a short answer, people are pretty much used to yukari in FES because she's just unlikeable overall, when they saw this they complained how passive she is with her breakdowns.
@@ackerman1744yep. Either way the toned down Yukari in answer dlc for reload isn’t gonna change my opinion of her. I still dislike her from FES. The her from FES will always be the Yukari I know and dislike.
its more mixed some people like that yukari went a bit crazy when makoto died because their love felt more real some hate it because they want her to be nice!
@@Shadoxasyou don’t understand how that was supposed to make her feel human amidst all the stuff going on. @@gamerbeast3616 pretty sure everyone who’s played and grown up with the original has the same opinion. All the cutscenes feel so watered down and felt like they didn’t really get the whole tone of the original game. You can have an opinion, yes, but it can still be a trash one.
They both had an emotional breakdown, the only thing they really changed was her trying to forcefully take the key from Aigis, which doesn’t really change as much as you may think They’re the same, Reload Yukari didn’t care any less than the original, she just realized she couldn’t win (and if you’re gonna say she didn’t put up a fight, she literally held a death match for it, so I don’t wanna hear it)
I'm gonna say it, I wish they kept the super aggresive Yukari from Fes's The Answer. I miss the """"Bitchkari"""" from the original, her grief and jealousy felt a lot more obvious and natural to me. Reload Yukari in Episode Aigis seems heavily watered down and softened, she seemed more like someone starting some kind of debate rather than an actual fight that may dictate the changing of fate of her lost love. I don't know how to feel about these script changes tbh. I never even played Fes, yet I felt robbed somehow.
I don't know about anyone else but didn't feel like they got to the conclusion that they had to fight way to quickly i mean yea the Original wasn't to well written but the was atleast a full blown argument that led to everyone wanting to fight, here its like they just literally followed a script saying now its time to fight, i don't maybe thats just me
At the risk of being called “Media illiterate” I think both takes have there pros and cons. FES is more raw with there emotions and it makes sense this is a big choice involving someone important to them. However I get why people didn’t like yukari behavior. Yes even as someone who is my least favorite character in persona, I get and understand her viewpoint. She lost her father and lost the love of her life and lashing against those who are near can happen, however she was not the only one who has lost someone. Everyone in SEES has experience death and has to grapple with the lost of the MC. I don’t think people who don’t like fes yukari should be told that they “dont get it” because they didn’t like how she spoke to them. I have a personal belief that you being upset does not excuse you from saying what you want how you want without any regard for other feels and not expect people to have less then nice things to say. Again fes is more impactful but I think reload did more of better job having yukari express her grief strongly but not coming at the cost of her going to far.
Nope, in Reload it doesn't make any sense the colliseum battles. All the tension was about the conflict between Yukari and Akihiko, Aigis with out knowing what decision to take and Junpei more concerned about Aigis and not taking any side. They weren't fighting for "honor", but because all of them had different reasons and all of them were in the reverse form of their arcana and were grieving. That is why is heartful cry, all of them were in pain. Reload destroyed that narrative and honestly I'm surprised that people prefer tame characters to real characters.
@alexandersmith4731 So, you'd rather just put the problem Answer Yukari had on another character in Episode: Aigis? I'd rather leave those problems in her writing in the past

Like someone else said : *I can see what they’re trying to do in Reload. They wanted to make Yukari stick out like less of a sore thumb compared to the rest of the group. @@ivanahoria8491 just got to it and I sobbed. Having felt the connection between myself and Mitsuru, it truly touched my heart during the breakdown scene. The VAs absolutely nailed it, and I truly believe the writing was much better here on the Reload version.
Holy smokes, Yukari's breakdown was heart wrenching. I get that people are upset that she's not as hatable as in the original, but I've come to realize that Reload's Yukari was just not made to be that same as OG's Yukari: she's less snarky, less bitchy (sorry for the lack of a better word) and seems to be more friendly
While it’s not bad, Yukari took a significant hit with Episode Aigis compared to The Answer from FES. Her behavior in The Answer worked because she was finally overcoming the grief of the loss of her father in the original campaign, only to lose the person that helped her overcome the grief and now be put in an even worse spot than where she started.
Absolutely disgusting. People always have these extremely stupid takes on the answer. When you're dealing with grief who cares how you're supposed to act. That's why i always loved the answer story wise cause it took characters that weren't known for certain behaviors and had them acting out of character which is very realistic. Episode aigis doesn't have anywhere near the same feeling or evoke anywhere near the same emotions for me as the Og did, but hell that goes for the entire game. If someone were to ask which to play I'd still tell them to play FES, at this point reload is not a valid substitution and only works as a fan service for people who already played the og version
@@player2-lightwater914 I like the name change to "The Answer." Rather than just a generic title indicating Aigis is the protagonist, it references the theme of "the answer to life."
@@artificialaceattorney6822 In Persona 3 FES, the main story is called Episode Yourself in Japanese and The Journey in English. Persona 3 Reload does not named the main story in both Japanese and English.
I think Yukari is less of an asshole about it reload for one. I'm still not crazy about her decision but I kind of get it. I still find it very confusing they split into 4 groups...over 2 choices.... That and mitsuru's rationale to back Yukari is kinda... silly to me. Literally just cuz they're really close? Like does mitsuru not have her own opinion on this? Especially seeing as mitsuru is the one that helps Yukari heal and accept the death the most too. I stil think the epilogue has some real bullshit in it tho.
I don't like that Junpei doesn't know what he means. It's clear to him that the present matters, and it's clear that he doesn't want to go back... saying he doesn't know what he "means" makes no sense. Also, I like the straightforwardness of the original. It's more clear what each character means and who they are by how they word their feelings Akihiko saying "throw in the towel" and "flat out refuse" to undo Miki and Shinnji's death? Ken saying that it's not fair undo a sacrifice... thinking about Shinji too. Maybe Yukari was too holier-than-thou in the original. It was clear to everyone this moment was pivotal and there was no way to convince anyone of anything. The fight was inevitable, especially when Aigis wasn't sure what to do, and Akihiko says it flat out, that she doesn't have the conviction to face Yukari, so he won't allow someone weak (will = power) to face the strong.
All of them were at their worst at that moment. All of them in the answer represent the reverse arcana this change after the colliseum fights. That is why they were weaker. Junpei was afraid but worried about Aigis and wanted that everyone calm down. Is the closest to a voice of reason, but at the core he didn't know what to do. He only knows that meddling with the past it was completely wrong.
The splitting up in Reload made it a little less about themselves, feels like. Removing the key prying is a neat change, too - Yukari now knows she has no chance against Aigis. There is no point going against her.
In my opinion I felt bummed that they removed Yukari trying to take the key from Aigis. In my eyes her trying taking the key was her last desperate attempt to she Makoto again and when that fails she ultimately has her breakdown. In Reload without the scene it felt like there wasn’t a climax to her breaking down. She just gives up without making one last attempt to see Makoto again by taking that key.
Well, the Reload version was so boring. You know, I can't even complain about Atlus ruining it since this is most likely the answer to the backlash people gave to them for writing Yukari like an actual teenager girl who's going through the stages of grief. Can't wait for them to make Kanji gay and Naoto trans in the P4 remake.
Reload in terms of how the tone was handled, portrayed characters, and music is just such a huge downgrade imo. Let’s take these recency bias glasses off for the love of god.
@@GreatChadhan the gameplay loop is unbearable i couldn’t finish crazy how i completed fes over 10 times and couldn’t finish reload once . The music is great tho just something is off
Oh shuuuut up, Reload is better than the original in most aspects. If I have recency bias glasses for preferring Reload and not pretending that it's trash, then you have nostalgia goggles
@@theprotagonist2025 To be honest, I think the gameplay cycle of the reload is better than the original, the old tartarus was quite boring after a while, the new one and the game in all was much more dynamic in my opinion.
@@shawnsindulfoabellana3912 meh. I get she has her frustrations, bla bla bla, but she was never that likable in the original to begin with. Reload did a better job with her character
I've never actually had issues with Yukari in the Answer, and so knowing how much toned down she is in Episode Aigis kinda took me by surprise. But I definitely understand why ATLUS decided to tone her down this time, just wished that she retained some of her frustration/desperation in the Answer. I feel like that combined with the way they handled her in Episode Aigis would have been good
Like, the script still plays her grief well but she doesn't snap at others or get angry as much which feels so weird when she has the right to be upset even when in the wrong about it
@@Ermwhatthesigmayyt she was, but I didn't expect her to be THIS toned down ie I was expecting some sort angry outburst like she did in FES when she was trying to forcefully take the True Key from Aigis, or at least something like that
Also Yukari in FES shows a different kind of grief that I don't think a lot of media covers - the anger and desperation/frustration of losing someone. What we tend to see or acclimatised with is sadness being the outcome of a grief, whereas it could range from sadness, to anger, and even feeling empty and while I can feel her grief, I wish there's a bit more anger in her
