“The marketing team commented on how quiet this saw was” IS the #1 reason why I bought this saw, and #2 was the footprint. This has to be my favorite woodworking tool of all time. It’s precision is impressive and it’s ease of use makes me forget how much I spent on this tool. It is worth every penny. Thanks Festool for making a great tool.

I bought the SYS 50 on launch day because I'm an apartment woodworker in San Francisco. The city college woodshop has three SawStops, but hauling materials back/forth isn't always convenient and that shop closes all summer + winter break. No other jobsite/contractor saw is small enough, quiet enough, or dust-collecting enough to use regularly inside an apartment. This was a true game changer for someone trying to work on fine furniture projects in their spare time. I'd love to see four accessories released this year: 1. Miter gauge fence with (a) imperial/metric scales (b) stop block with micro-adjustment. 2. Micro-adjuster that slides/locks in the same channel as the rip fence. It would be sweet to eyeball the adjuster against the scale, lock it down, then twist a fine knob to shift the fence before locking that down. 3. Long fence options for both rip + miter orientations with a flip-up support underneath for long stock. 4. 120V/AC adapter (long shot). I'm only using this at home, so power is always available. Using batteries is fine but it would be awesome to just plug the SYS50 into my CT26, which (thank you, engineers) fits nicely underneath the stand.

you build wooden furniture INSIDE you apartment? That's lowkey awesome.
@BrendanFalkowski
@BrendanFalkowski 6 месяцев назад
@@dubjspecialk You can do it. A planing stop + shooting board on the kitchen counter or island is enough to get going with hand tools. I generally save machining for the shop, but having this at home is really helpful.

Can you put a sawstop blade on in it?
@BrendanFalkowski
@BrendanFalkowski Месяц назад
@@damaincantu1581 The CSC SYS uses 168mm blades, which are common to the TS60 series track saws too. Other brands of jobsite saws may use 8-1/4" or 10" blades. Cabinet saws use 10" blades typically.

I am waiting for an accessory unit which converts it to mains corded power like the Hikoki/Hitachi portable table saw.

I have this saw, and it replaced my crappy Bosch contractor, which was notoriously inaccurate. Would like to see Festool come out with a corded adapter and a hold-down accessory similar to the Jessum Clear Cut TS Stock Guide to fit on the saw fence. There is a T-track slot on the fence, but it's too small for other after-market accessories. All in all, I'm very happy with it. One other thing - the 18v Batteries are only available with a charger and systainer. I just would like to have two more batteries which can charge while I'm using the other two without having to buy another charger and systainer.

Still waiting for the engineers to dust off that mains powered prototype 🎉 and whilst at it add in a micro Sawstop like on the bigger TKS80. Safety / Precision / Portability

As an owner of the saw I’m very impressed. Great video, the best on the tool I have seen to date. However the machine has a glare engineering short coming. The fence is it weakness with no micro adjustment. And you should have used a duel scale on it with both metric and imperial scales. I use the saw for building in metric and construction in imperial. Just mark one side of the,scale metric and the other imperial, problem fixed. You also could have used a rubber friction wheel as it’s micro fence adjustment. It’s unfortunate to have such a sophisticated height, and angle adjustment with an archaic fence adjustment. My 30 year old Dewalt has a better fence than this. Glad to hear the larger batteries are coming, I need to get a second pair and I can drain the stock 5 amp hours one’s relatively quickly. As for value vs cost the machine is cheep given its capabilities and accuracy. Now about that fence…

Wonderful saw but a shame no 110/240v input. Maybe some power inversion on a battery connection with a dummy second stop battery.

Great presentation, im interested in this saw as a trim carpenter. You mentioned it started out on the drawing board as a corded machine. Do you have any plans to release a corded/cordless version like you did with some of your sanders? That way we can be cordless when needed and corded the rest of the time. Also could the fence not be digital like the rest of the saw?

I just took delivery of this saw and 4x 8Ah batteries. Should go some way to alleviate the issue of not having a power cord! Though I still think you should come out with a corded solution. I know many people who would love to have this but that being a deal breaker for them.

The metric fence scales cost me around $30 delivered which was somewhat of an irritant to me. You should have it available in the US as either metric or imperial. After several months of using this for fine detail work, the crosscut fence needs a flip stop and a scale that can be calibrated. It also needs a zero clearance insert available for purchase. Looking forward to the larger amp hour batteries too. Steve

There is no reason they can’t have a 120v AC to 36 V DC converter that looks like two battery packs feeding into an AC plug. They already do something similar with their sanders. It’s not that difficult of an engineering problem to solve.

I'm curious to know what Festool's reason for going battery powered given they spent years gathering feedback on this and the #1 feedback (and obvious configuration imo) based on comments here and on other sites is to have it corded.

excuse my ignorance but wasn't this designed and built in Germany. you guys talk about it like it was designed in the USA which I highly doubt since it wasn't released in the USA for quite a while after it was already out in Europe. did not one of your testers suggest a dial-in distance to fence which in my opinion is the most important measurement to recall. It's one reason I'll never buy it at this price.

I am with you. I have spent the last 4 months building my Festool Inventory and would have bought this saw, but the fence was a deal breaker so I bought a cordless DeWalt with the micro adjust fence until Festool makes some improvements. For the price I would like to see more of the features that are important to me.

Sawstop could be optional if you let the machine have a plug just for when you use it that way. But then you may as well just let us plug it in & not need the batteries. But then, you need to make it more expensive to make the brushless motor work right on corded mode. A bigger, shop-centric/home-use saw with the sister tech would be great. AFAIK, the table saws never made it to the US, or only briefly. I would like to buy a bigger saw for my shop with Festool quality & thought put into it.
