GH5 owner, and absolutely love it. What I love the most about it tho, is the IBIS ! Paired w/ a stabilized lens and the camera just becomes silky smooth.. And that's where my issue is... I have the itch to upgrade to the S5 but... I dunno, something seems off (not as good as the GH5) about it's stabilization.. Have any thoughts on that ?!
I still have my GH5 and it's still my favorite camera! I switch in between depending on what I want to shoot. For example, emulating 16 mm look will be better with GH5. I use S5 mostly for weddings where you need lowlight capability and shallow DOF to get the creamy look. It's true that with a full frame sensor, the IBIS is not as good as GH5. So you're kinda trading one thing for another, in the end, there's no perfect camera. The question is, why do you need a full-frame S5?
@@vedroelcitra I also shoot photography.. So, I’ve had my fair share of full frame cameras, but the one camera that was the best at having both photos + video in one was, the 5DMK2. I guess I’ve always been chasing cameras that did both well, to where I didn’t have to put it down.. Seems like the S5 could possibly be a camera for that.. Especially for that price. Anyway, check out my IG, same name.. topshelfjunior, my photography is on there too.
Hi mate love the colours! When using Colour space transform to arri colours do you then use another colour space transform back to rec709. Cheers mate !
I used VLog in 422 10bit for the maximum dynamic range. For the grade, I color transformed the footage from VLOG>Arri Log> Rec 709 in Davinci cause I just like ARRI color space :p Then adjustment in the temp and tint. Shift the green color a little bit so it’s not too green. I was comparing it to some film footage. Then I colorgrade the skin so that it’s more lively and the highlight is not pure white.
@@vedroelcitra thanks for the reply! I own the S5 and it's an amazing camera. Playing with the natural profile and Brim Linny lut. Getting some great results.
my problem with this is that it looks like full frame, or at very least super 35.. that depth of field is not achievable with 16mm unless you are pretty far away from the subject and have a pretty long lens which would make everything look different. The post production process looks nice but from my experience, the emulation starts at the moment you shoot. Nonetheless great work! :)
It could be done the way you said it too, maybe if you want to perfect the emulation, it's a matter of preference and I prefer this look, with the depth of field.
Yo Rich! It's the best investment personally, in terms of the features and the value that you get for a more affordable price compared to other similar cameras. I like to run and gun, so IBIS is important. Autofocus is not as good as sony but I don't really use autofocus in the first place. Image quality is top-notch (4K 10bit 422), easy to color grade.
@@vedroelcitra yeah I bought one for the same reasons. I've done some photography with it mainly headshots and compared to my GH5 in terms of quality its levels above. I've shot a few showreel scenes for actors with it too great camera I'm glad I got it instead of the Blackmagic pocket 6k
