Thanks again Colin! After working at this in earnest for a couple years now I’m just now getting comfortable with EQ. Part of it is developing your ears enough to know what you want from the sound and what would make it work better in the mix. The other thing is the variety of EQ tools - dynamic vs static, #’s of bands, blends with saturators/compressors, visual or not, that make it hard to get your head around. Some can also cripple your DAW.
Yes, I have been using EQ and want to thank you for all the videos you have put out on Garageband and Logic. I use EQ a lot to create space and bring out sounds in my songs. Your videos on EQ have be so helpful in understanding what I can do to improve my sound. BTW. I have printed off your Guides and Cheatsheets and have them in a notebook handy for me to use when needed in my process.
I absolutely love your videos/tutorials, but could you slow down a bit? I’m missing some of the content simply because I can’t keep up. Sorry for my age but it will catch up to you, too!
If you click the little gear button you can set the video to half speed. Personally I like the speed he goes, but if you prefer a bit of a slower pace then changing the playback speed will help a lot
I love your videos, my biggest struggle is as a bass player I can't ever mix bass to stand out yet 'sit' in the mix - I use a P-Bass and J-Bass with flats through a '66 Ampeg B-15 + capture DI through a UA 2-610, you'd *think* I'd get great results... I want the Jameson/JPJ tight snappy, almost muted sound - but in a modern context. Help! :)
