I never knew that I wanted a ranch management horse game, but now I want it very much. It would be awesome, to build a ranch, get horses, train them up for the guests, assign them to different tasks, manage the guests... There are plenty of games (both good and horrible) where the main point is riding the horses, and while that is obviously something most horse lovers want, but we also need games where that isn't the focus. I want to see my horses doing well not just under my saddle, but also ridden by others.
i really recommend the game she was talking about that came out around 10 years ago, the graphics are still good enough and it is exactly that, plus its on steam!
I love management games, but one thing they desperately need is the ability to hire stable hands. Once you have too many horses it gets overwhelming to remember all the small chores. Let alone complete all of them and have time to ride and train.
Horse games with real functional genetics have my heart. The only reason I played ETG was because of the gene panel and breeding. Im looking forwards to seeing where this game goes because between that and the barn management it sounds like a good fill for a small niche that I particularly like. Edit: If "management" could even include things like ordering feed/bedding, scheduling the farrier, etc I would be THE happiest camper. So much realism "real estate" that games dont expand on enough imho. That and y'know... leads lol
Same! I just don’t care for actually riding my horses at all, I want to manage my stable, but i just don’t like when I have to ride my virtual horses 😅
I always love your game reviews, I would love if you could make a video explaining your ideal horse game. Like what sort of game it would be, what it would feature, etc.
I'll think about it! If I do make a video like this, I would like to use examples from games that exist to give people a point of reference, I think! Just to make it easier to visualise! I'll see if I can write something up like this! :D ♥

I have only played the original My Riding Stables, but always loved it. EQUIRE sound very interesting and the horses look fine, except for the tail, I hope it won't twirl around that much in walk and trot further into the development.
I look forward to this a lot actually. I really like management type games as long as i can control them right( i could not get a hold of my riding stable).
That moment you watch a video expecting to learn about a new horse game (which I did), but you actually come out of it MORE overjoyed that someone else in the world played Jurassic Park Operation Genesis!!! XD
Ooh, Equire is looking really good! I absolutely agree on the single player preference. Not everything needs to be an MMO that you just HAVE to play right now before it dies in 5 years. I’ve been noticing gameplay from Star Equestrian in the past few videos. Do you plan on reviewing it? The Discord situation after the pegasus update was hilarious
@@YTRattle The devs had announced a dressage update a few months previously that they never followed through on, but a lot of players on the Discord were still holding out hope. Then the devs announced the pegasus and pet update out of the blue. No warning. Nothing in that update was in the roadmap of the game’s development that had been shared shortly after the game released. The Discord is fan run but has some devs in the server who leave a message every once in a blue moon. The rules are pretty strict about not complaining about devs while complaining about the game. Everyone was so upset after the update finally came out that those rules were put on pause for at least a solid week. One of the things that was particularly upsetting to me personally was while players were picking apart the new races in the trailer video and saying that we the players did not want them, one of the devs popped in to tell us that the devs had been having lots of fun playing the new races and that we should try them first. Which would have been fair if the new races hadn’t been a buggy, underexplained, overstimulating mess. But there was no dev response then, even after multiple people tried to ask how the leaderboard point system works. Nothing. I haven’t been following after that, so I couldn’t tell you if there’s been drama since then. But overall, there is a lot of dissatisfaction with the lack of communication from the devs
It bugs me that many games call their stables "ranches" Yet what we always get is jumping related disciplines... I wish we would get actual ranches, with western disciplines.

I will wait before I get this game... as 99% of the horse games have had issues of some sort so I'd rather not waste my money if it turns outs to be like every other horse game that promises you something but never delivers or only gives you a half assed promise that may or may not be exactly what was promised
10:57 i’m so happy about this. i’m so sick of horse games only being about riding around and hitting space over jumps to train them, and i’m so bored of competing being the only goal. i really hope this game comes to fruition

One thing I see in a lot of these horse games is that the animations for jumping always seems to be running much slower than all other animations. It's like there's suddenly less gravity and the horse slowly flies over the obstacle. I wonder why that is. It looks weird.
Maybe it tries to give u the feeling of a powerful and fancy jump, some ppl like to see it in slow mo but yeah its unnatural and bothering when its all the time 😂
@@xWhiteKuri That might be. Maybe it could be an option for those that want to study the elegant jump in detail, but I would prefer if it moved more naturally and fluidly like in reality.
This does look like it could turn out well. He has a good idea of how things should be done and knows well enough about horses and ranches. Starting out with only one breed and focusing on gameplay is great too. Customizations in any type of range should come last - the game needs to be fun and have a gameplay loop of sorts first. I hope he keeps up steadily and makes us an actual nice horse game because I do find most horse games lacking or very P2W with ignorant devs lol
Future me will most definitely keep doing Crosscountry and entirely ignore literally everything else in the game. Especially guests. :'D Jokes aside tho; I am VERY excited for this one. Not just because of the crosscountry but also because the dev mentioned being involved with studying stuff regarding genetics. So I'm really interested in seeing how this turns out and how close to reality it will be. (Anything is better than literal RNG deciding the colours tbh.) The fact that we can choose to entirely ignore grooming is SUCH a great thing tbh, I have always hated it because it takes away from the actual fun parts of the game (competitions, training or management). The management aspect is something I am looking very much forward to since I never had the chance to play the original Horse Race Manager and similar games and I am hoping to get something akin to Mein Pferderennstall in terms of cozy, simple but interesting management gameplay.
Have you ever considered making a series out of revisiting old horse games? :) Reviewing them? I think you’d be great at it! Something like “Worst MMO ever” series, maybe, if you’re looking for some inspiration ;)

Im so glad theyll apply a stablehand! its such a bother in the ranch of rivershine its insane. I cant wait for this game as Im a major breeding and different personalities lover and for random things to happen :D and also real happy that there wont be microtransactions haha
YESSS!!! i'm tired of horse games focusing mainly on competitions, so getting a game that focuses more on facility creation/management & horse care is a dream! as a planet zoo player this game is very intriguing .
I love the guest mansgement side. There was an ooold horse game called "my horse farm" that i loved as a kid. It included riding competition and ranch management. It had some ugly graphics but it was so much fun. Ive been wanting soemthing similair for years

What do you think about the horses in sims 3 or 4? I LOVED playing 3 with the pet expansion when I was younger- it had so much to offer. 4’s horse pack seems kind of a let down.
OK I'm only 24 seconds in and that artwork looks like AI... this doesn't give me good vibes. if the game is only 5 months into development, we have no idea what it will look like, games change a lot though develoment.
I can see the horse training being use for horse behaviour students. How can the students condition the behaviour of a horse before they go and handle actual horses.
I'm a bit worried the thumbnail image for the game is AI, I'm sincerly hoping it isnt but if it is I wont be touching the game at all. If it is made by a person I would love to get their socials as it does look amazing, it just feels like nothing can be trusted anymore.

In terms of games, AI is everything that makes a decision that isn't you as a player. This includes the really simple stuff: for example, a goomba from Super Mario Bros. whose decision making is "move forward, hit object?, turn around"; to complex NPC interactions that read from many states at once. I'm pretty sure that's what's being referred to here, at least.
