You're making it harder than it has to be. You could have just divided 178 by 3 and times 10 in the very beginning. Easy

@noellebuckle4509
@noellebuckle4509 8 лет назад
all u had to do was divide 178 by 3 which equals 59.33 then u multiply Ur answer by 10 which equals 593.33

What if a problem has four numbers and doesn't have a variable? Would you still do the same thing?
@LearnMathWithMsM
@LearnMathWithMsM 9 лет назад
If that's the case, what is the problem asking you to figure out? When you "solve" a proportion you are looking for the value that will make it a true, meaning it will be proportional. If you have 4 numbers, you can't "solve" the proportion. The problem might want you to just check to see if they are proportional.

I don't think this is unit rate because isn't unit rate a proportion where you have to find try to find the variable for one unit like 3/36=1/x. What you did was proportions with variables it was still a good video though.

wouldn't you say that x is approximately equal to the answer?

In Chicago, the tax on a property assessed at $320,000 is $4,160. If tax rates are proportional in this city, how much would the tax be on a property assessed at $520,000? how do you work this problem
@normanhenderson7300
@normanhenderson7300 5 лет назад
$320,000/$4,160 =$520,000/x, then solve as in a proportion.

what I dis was to divide 178 miles by 3, then I multiplied the quotient by 10 and the answer was 593 without decimals. am I wrong?
