The "cut" scene where freiren murmurs "so dark" during her sleep made me chuckle. It meant she was having a nightmare(?) of being eaten by a mimic 😂

She hate how Frieren always surpressing her mana but she still done the same way, she said spell creating a field of flower is useless but held the 3rd exam in a flower garden, she said how dissapointed when take on human students but she remember well correctly what is Flamme idea, which is Flamme favorite spell, how Sense react when she in trouble and how Lernen was when he was young. Series words and action never same as one and I think those words she said is that how she use to forget a certain pain about losing more and more important people around her

Frieren's Full Mana is just basically Serie's Fully Suppressed Mana. Her mana must be big as a country

@@PbeingXDmore or less. In absolute power I’m pretty sure she should be stronger, but it was stated she never fought the demon king because she couldn’t visualize defeating him. Mostly because she’s a warmonger who never wants a time of peace.

I legit had goosebumps when Serie said to the old first class mage that "... he couldn't notice the fluctuations " like bruhhhh, that mana level is soo high and it was AFTER BEING COMPRESSED ???/ Wild....

The fact that Lernen ALWAYS oversees the final test shows how much respect Serie actually has for him. Other tests are conducted by a rotation of other First-Class mages, who essentially get a negative vote by failing some candidates, but only Lernen is delegated the right to make the positive choice that someone does get to become a First-Class mage.

the whole episode is about frieren not being able to understand, or rahter to connect with her feelings, as Heiter tells Fern in the flashback. After that we see another elf struggling to understand/express her feelings. By my understanding she is sad that her student is aging and soon he will leave her the same way that happened with Flamme. Not only that but she also assures Sense that no one will get harmed. And then, when she failed Frieren she got dissapointed that Frieren didnt talk back at her as if she wanted to get closer to Friren. I love this show and the subtle themes.

Serie is so bored from her long lifespan, she's become such a pessimist, but then she discovers Fern and is instantly like "Finally, new content!"

The staff isn't a placebo any more than a gun is a placebo. Yes, you can throw bullets at your enemies with your bare hands, but if you use a gun it works better. Same with the staff (or wand for some of them). Frieren is just unusual in that she can throw bullets at people just as hard as a gun can. I think she can't use much spell variety that way, though. Without her staff she's always shown just using raw force, like cutting off the wire-demon's arms/head or crushing Fern into the wall.

Gun is and isnt a good Way of Explaining it. A Swing or Spear Throw would be a better way to do it. Basicly the Staff is a Force Multiplier. It uses your Basic, Trainable Power and Multiplies it 10, 100,1000 Times (i dont think they ever actually explained in Details how much more powerfull a Mage is with his Staff). But this Multiplication doesnt mean a Mage without his Staff is Weak. Its just so, and thats also why Serie is so often Disappointet in Human Mages, that most Mages are just Weak by Default. Sure Compared to the Average Normal Human, everyone who can use Magic is more Powerfull.... But the Average Mage is like the Guy who got some good "Gen" and therefore is in a Decent Shape, while the Guy hitting the Gym 5 Times a Week and Training to be a Professional Athlet will out do him. Same goes basicly for Frieren, she is far above the Average Mage and what the Average Living Creature could handle, that her Base Power is simply high enought to get away without using the Staff. The Combination is what allows her to Kill Demon Army Commanders and Above in the End. A Feat Most Human Mages, at least above Second Class ( i would say) never able to do.

I see it that Serie is disappointed at her students lifespan. To see Lernen be reaching, if not be similar to the demon king in detecting mana, only to realize that Lernen only has a few years left, it'd be truly disappointing. Imagine how many great students she has had to see die before her, maybe she wasn't so cynical/nihilistic at first, but over time, she developed misanthropy as kind of a coping mechanism. I mean, she lies almost all the time, not understanding Flamme even though she tells Frieren what Flamme's dream was all the while remembering her very vividly. Saying that suppressing Mana is a waste of time even though she does it herself, she's probably the one who taught Flamme the technique. She shielded Sense from all responsibility by blaming Frieren Even asked Lernen's opinion for taking over his test, to see if he's okay with it. The only person she most likely is truly disappointed at is Frieren. For 1000 years Frieren stayed in the cabin in the woods, doing almost nothing. She's only been active for 80-90 years, she only started collecting spells when Himmel complimented her spells. Serie is like the grandma with a 50 year old grandchild who is very talented but did almost nothing in life and is just starting to open up a shop. Of course it's Frieren's life, she can live however she wants, but Serie doesn't have to be happy about it.
