Serie’s intuition is always right. So when she said there were too many mages passing, then she observed them herself, Serie had the humility to apologize. It’s not that Frieren carried them, it’s that there were just a bunch of powerful mages that deserved respect. And Serie acknowledged them.

Laundry spell is a godsend when on long missions, saves an hour of time or more per day(they didn't have washing machines). And even if demons and monsters went extinct and the world became truly peaceful, it's a solid spell to make a business out of. Very practical.

Little detail that it seems like you didn't notice, and it's pretty hidden (in fact I didn't notice it too the first time I watched the episode): in the final scenes, when the ending is playing, you can see a frame where there are Ehre, Lernen, Wirbel and the other guy of their team. It's very likely, from that scene, that Lernen is Ehre's grandfather, because: 1- She thought, when fighting Fern, that she fought like her grandfather. If we assume that she was referring to Lernen, that'd make sense because he seemed to fight, in that little scene against Frieren, very similarly to how Fern fights. 2- In episode 20, she said to Wirbel, before finding the Stille, that they still could travel nord because her grandfather is a First Rank Mage. If we combine those two pieces of evidence, and also the fact that it'd be strange for Ehre to introduce Lernen to the other two guys (you can see that she's in a stance that suggests that she's introducing him) otherwise, it seems pretty clear that Lernen is, in fact, Ehre's grandfather. Kinda interesting detail, and maybe it explains why Fern detected Ehre as the strongest in her group, since she seems to be the granddaughter of the most likely strongest human mage known.

To me, this was an absolute masterpiece through and through! The characters, the storywriting, the visuals and directing, the subtextual context within the flashbacks and how it contributed to Frieren's subtle yet significant development as the titular heroine of the series. This pretty much had it all! Hopefully s2 will be possible in the near future! (Rather not have them rush out a sequel, if anything).

this is the only anime that I don't mind seeing multiple flashbacks in each episode. tbh, I want more lol. and I like that until the end Frieren always remembers everything that Himmel said which is for me so wholesome. I wonder If Frieren falling in love with Himmel if there's next season. would love to see that.

If there was one thing I had to pick that makes Frieren one of the best series to me. It'd have to be consistency. Whether it is episode 1 or episode 28. Himmel is Himmel, Frieren is Frieren. Nothing feels arbitrary, forced, put in just for a plot development. Series like this come only once in a while. Cherish watching it for the first time everyone, just like Frieren learns to cherish the relationships she has built.

Can't wait for season 2 . More action and lore in future. It might be the spurt of moment, but this has become my favourite anime of all time. Very surreal , inspiring experience . Himmel has become my favourite hero type character , good as well as cool and not whiny and pathetic.

It's interesting that you mention the sky is depicted so clearly and angelic as you put it. Himmel means both Sky and Heaven in German. Throughout the anime they've depicted this clear cloudless blue sky. Sometimes taking up the majority of the frame in certain shots. Himmel may be dead but he is still always with Frieren.

If you loved Frieren, may I recommend "To Your Eternity." It is another supernatural, fantasy story that deals with how a nearly immortal being deals with life, departures of their love ones and others they've met on their journey, and living the consequences of the impacts of time on human societies. In short, it's another I came in for the feels, stayed for the SURPRISE action, but still cried for the feels.

In terms of writing quality i would recommend "Ascendance of a Bookworm" and "Record of Lodoss War" if doesn´t have to be the newest stuff (though they are currently working on AoB seasson 4, so...). Both are easily on par with Frieren.

At this point in the story it's been 29 years since Himmel passed so roughly 80 years since the defeat of the demon king, and Fern first met Frieren 9 years ago, making Fern around 15.

No other studio could have done this anime justice not even Mappa, Mad House always knows exactly what scenes need detailed animation and what scenes don't, what part of the story needs heavy focus and what is fine to skim over. Not a single anime they are in charge of has been adapted poorly.
